Chapter 231: 053. Prepare for Advanced
Xi Silong led the soldiers of Bemudes into the Sulut Palace, broadcasting live just in time to announce to the entire nation and the world that Duke Gamos and his henchmen had been eliminated, and that the temporary military government formed by Bemudes was now taking over the country.
Thus, the Grante Duchy, enslaved by Frost Plated and the Grante Family for five hundred and twenty-seven years, had officially become independent and was renamed the Grante Republic.
The situation was far from optimistic, though. The remnants of the Duke’s military forces had either fled or surrendered on the spot, but the war-torn city left many without a work environment or jobs. People needed consolation, and more importantly, the sky was filled with Ersha.
If this battle didn’t affect many civilians, failing to activate the barrier generators soon would ensure everyone would freeze to death.
When Li Aozi flew back to the city, looking for Alicxia, he found upon landing that no one cared about him; instead, Alicxia had just fallen to the ground, and Bemudes’s soldiers had taken her away to a war hospital for treatment.
"That’s how it should be," Li Aozi not only didn’t feel dejected but even nodded in approval.
His charisma was extraordinary, equivalent to ’love at first sight’ for humans, and even someone like Mingji Professor, who deeply despised him, wouldn’t dislike Li Aozi now with his 100 points of "Charm".
The people of Grante had no time to worry about flattering and pleasing him. Defeating the Duke and the post-war handling smashed their psychological shackles, giving them a sense of independence and autonomy.
Li Aozi glanced at his task:
[Settlement Conditions]:
A. "Child of Volcano" — Overthrow Grante’s comprador group, help the people of Grante regain power, and rebuild the republic.
B. "Buried in the Ultramarine" — The greatest resistance of the rebel army is the ruler of the old world. Kill the Duke of the Grante Duchy, Gamos Luwenqi Grante (completed)
——————————
"Buried in the Ultramarine" was completed, but he still needed to help the people of Grante take back power to finish the entire "Roar of Freedom" task.
Defeating the Duke provided a high amount of experience, along with a random reward issued by Settlement Condition B, which Li Aozi was not in a hurry to unpack.
On one hand, he was at the cusp of the final mutation requirement and needed another four to five hours to advance to Beta Rank. Stockpiling experience, for now, had no immediate use, and he couldn’t find any skills he needed to upgrade.
On the other hand, Li Aozi felt his luck always followed the law of conservation.
Based on his recent experiences, if he received a good reward now, his forthcoming awakening of Arcane Energy and Mutation Options would likely not be as favorable.
He wished Meibei could take some of his bad luck away, but alas, the fellow had no such specialty.
As for Settlement Condition A, "Child of Volcano", that wasn’t too difficult.
According to the task description, taking back power and reconstructing the republic which Alicxia had already laid the foundation for the people of Grante. All that was left was to clear out some roadblocks and eliminate the remaining forces so the international community could recognize the authority of the Grante Republic.
The socialite events Li Aozi had participated in before had already given a heads-up to Red Arrow, Zhengxu, and Sky Ring. Now the international issues weren’t challenging, and clearing domestic obstacles would allow the newborn republic to stand on firm ground.
At this time, the usefulness of attracting Banam became apparent.
When Li Aozi found Banam, he was standing in front of a car hood, directing personnel with a computer and map.
For the basic-educated soldiers of Bemudes, managing a city was baffling.
Banam, this poor university graduate, from an outsourced salesman, had now abruptly become one of the most educated individuals in the republic’s regime. As the Frost Plated Roll King, his solid learning ability was very much capable of effectively assisting with governmental affairs, and he happened to know some human resource management techniques.
"Hehehe, come here, come here," Li Aozi beckoned to Banam with a hook of his hand, "Let me tell you something, Banam, do you know about the Colonist Party trained by Frost Plated?"
Banam set down the documents in his hand and nodded:
"I’ve heard about this."
Half an hour later.
The warriors from Bemudes, armed to the teeth, stepped into the Sipeya Street underground Shelter. They had just set foot on the civil defense project’s staircase when they heard a woman’s hysterical roar from inside:
"I don’t care about the rise of great nations, I only care about the dignity and happiness of being a small person!"
Several soldiers from Bemudes exchanged glances, confirming with each other: they hadn’t come to the wrong place, the intelligence was correct.
They didn’t rush to open the door but used the terminal’s recorder to capture the voice, and then heard the speaker inside speak with heartfelt pain:
"Compatriots, the suffering you endure now and the property you have lost all come from the shameless cruelty of those rebels. They are the ones who blew up your houses and shops. If not for their extreme hatred towards the Frost Plated People, we too should have been citizens of a developed country among the Four Nations. They are the ones who took our peace away."
Someone quietly pushed the door ajar and pointed the camera at the crowd. He immediately focused on the man standing on the platform, speaking forcefully, dressed in Frost Plated formal attire, his hair slicked and face powdered—sure enough, the speaker emitting a voice similar to that of a woman was a man.
He looked at the people with a compassionate gaze, and ’I’m doing this for your own good’ expression emerged on his face, clearly injected with estrogen:
"Oppose war, we want peace. The Frost Plated People came with peace and friendliness. They built us schools, factories, and gas stations, while the ’manly men’ of our nation only dream of proving their courage through fighting and slaughter—crude, how vulgar!"
The warriors from Bemudes quietly mingled into the crowd, slowly approaching the man on the platform, while two others moved to seal the exits. An officer compared the photos on the terminal to the ’man’ on the platform and nodded:
"That’s right, it’s him, Chen Muci, the spokesman for the Colonist Party."
The ’man’ known as Chen Muci said excitedly:
"In Frost Plated, I can see that boys also have beautiful looks, and women can be high officials and business owners instead of being required to bear male children—no, in Frost Plated, girls are the treasures. Think about it, what’s the point of those extreme nationalists?"
"We should wholly accept the governance of the Frost Plated People. White Frost Plating Clothes, unstained by the original mind. The Frost Plated People are civilized and cultured. During the several hundred years of Frost Plated’s dominion, our cars had fuel to burn, our children could speak the advanced Four Nations language, and we were able to discard the primitive and backward native language of the Grantians."
"Go take a look at Frost Plated, compatriots, the air there is clear, people live with dignity, and every one of them, even if just washing dishes, can live in a villa and enjoy free healthcare. We should rightly accept the baptism of an advanced civilization, rather than lead a desperate existence under the evil dominion of Grante’s nationalist regime. The beasts of Bemudes have only instilled in us an education and mindset of hatred, not realizing that without Frost Plated, we wouldn’t even be able to drive our cars today."
"Good! Well said!"
The soldiers from Bemudes clapped their hands, and only then did people notice that armed personnel carrying rifles had walked over. The Chen Muci on the platform kept his composure, holding his head high. Even as the soldiers from Bemudes approached, he walked forward with an inflated sense of importance, puffing out his chest, like a martyr bravely facing his fate. He shouted at the soldiers from Bemudes:
"What are you here for?"
"The city has already been taken over by Bemudes’s armed forces. I’m here to tell everyone to go home to avoid the gathering of people." The leading soldier said with ease, "Mr. Chen, have you got your Frost Plated green card yet? Do you need us to take you home, or to the Frost Plated Embassy? You wouldn’t be unable to get in, would you?"
Whether Chen Muci had a green card was unknown, but his face certainly turned green, his expression darkening:
"I am giving a speech, this is my job."
"Alright then, you’re unemployed." The soldier gestured with his mouth: "Take this gentleman away."
Chen Muci waved his hand in feigned anger:
"What are you doing! Are you arresting progressive people? This is political persecution! Do you dare to take action without an arrest warrant?"
"Sorry, it’s military governance now, the military calls the shots. If you don’t cooperate, that’s obstructing our performance of duty, suspected of disturbing public order and illegal assembly."
Chen Muci trembled with rage, sweating profusely. But facing the dark muzzles of the guns, the confidence he had during his speech immediately dissipated. He pretended to be composed, tidied up his clothes and even waved goodbye to the audience.
"Don’t worry about me. If my accident can awaken more people’s conscience, then I am willing to make that sacrifice."
