Meteor Fall Master in the 'Starry Abyss'

Chapter 227: 049. Natural Calamity

Until this moment, the people of Grante’s dismissive fantasies about the Gamma Phase were finally shattered.

"Even the most powerful beings are just carbon-based life forms, there’s nothing that a covering fire cannot solve!"

The premise of this statement first requires a nation with enough firepower to even make such a claim.

The Bemudes soldiers from Xi Silong fought bravely against the Duchy’s defenders, holding strong beliefs in their hearts, but when Duke Gamos descended amidst the thunderous clouds, they lost their will to fight, people screamed and ran away quickly, and the officers had to coordinate order, instructing everyone to take their supplies and retreat orderly.

Alpha Squad, still clearing enemies in Sulut Palace, hadn’t even caught their breath when they were immediately crushed underfoot, powerless to resist.

It wasn’t entirely out of fear that they did this but because no mortals would be foolish enough to resist a tsunami with their bodies.

The heavens and the earth connected, thunder roared, and the castle-like towering figure entwined with thousands of strange and sinister spirits; Cang Cui’s wolf-skin cloak was swept up by the storm, shining like a bizarre aurora in the endless night.

Duke Gamos slowly lowered his three pairs of giant hands, smashing the umbilical cord and placenta onto the ground like a meteor hammer; clad in white like mourning, the snail antennae atop his head slowly rotating, the four pale blue Magic Eyes reflecting the collapsing army and the ruined city, the long night brought snow and sand, the thunderous dragon in the sky instantly ripping through the heavens, illuminating the creepy figures crawling beneath him.

The Shaman stood in the midst of this disaster, natural thunder and ghosts at his command.

The heavens and earth whistled, the wind also mourned sharply, leading to piercing complaints, causing one’s spine to chill, and scalp to tingle, making it hard to suppress the emotions, hard not to think of an absurd thought:

This planet, is crying.

It couldn’t support existences beyond its ecosystem; giant size and incredibly firm structure made Earth’s gravity seem like a joke, the continuous influx of Spiritual Power from all directions felt like converging into an endless funnel, never enough to be satisfied.

Boom!

The Duke instantly swung his umbilical cord, the swaying placenta heavily smashing down, the ground swaying, a deep ravine immediately devouring countless fleeing individuals, the modern forest of steel and concrete under his Martial Force seemed like a joke.

People desperately raised rocket launchers, aimed 122mm howitzers at the Duke, hoping that the scant shower of bullets and sparks could harm him—but as the flames propelled the projectiles close to Duke Gamos, they simply floated past like through a curtain of water, creating a ripple.

Boom, boom, boom, boom—

The prolonged barrage passed through the Duke’s torso, tracer rounds crisscrossing in mid-air, yet completely failing to bring about the bloody death they desperately hoped for; the sound of the guns as loud as a million drums, metal and fire scorching, bunches of flames bursting in the air, as if these weren’t lethal weapons at all, but fireworks meant to celebrate a New Year’s festival.

Never had the soldiers so desperately longed for slaughter and power, pouring out their firepower hopelessly.

Duke Gamos stood among mortals, reveling in their symphony of steel.

"This is a true Gamma Phase."

Gravity lifted broken walls, Li Aozi’s left hand’s flame extinguished as he caught Alicxia, both jumping out to face the nearly 40 meters tall Duke, appearing like ants in comparison.

The planets of the universe are quirky, but when faced with an overwhelmingly powerful individual, they seem to feel crisis and fear.

Gamma Phase, to the universe, is just the most numerous backbone force, but for Azure Star, this could already be considered a Disaster-Level creature.

This was still a Gamma Phase not in its prime, already old, chronically under-oxygenated, and lacking in energy. Perhaps a massive barrage of high-density firepower and ballistic missiles could truly defeat him, but for the underdeveloped agricultural country of Grante Duchy, it could be bluntly stated:

"Duke Gamos is a deity upon this earth."

"A deity?"

Alicxia crossed her fists and said in a deep voice,

"The deities of old days should make way for the new human era."

Li Aozi tilted his head and said, "I think so too."

The next moment, the two of them burst forth suddenly.

Gravity acceleration—150G!

Clad in armor, in Overseer Form, all Arcane Energy was integrated. With an additional fifty percent in movement speed, Li Aozi’s actual speed immediately shot past six times the speed of sound. A dazzling red shadow instantly tore through the sky, striking directly at Duke Gamos’s head like a long sword.

"Ha!"

The Duke’s figure flickered, and flames scattered the ghosts clinging to him, startling them away. His massive body displayed a flexibility that severely defied the laws of physics, as if weightless, and he immediately dodged Li Aozi’s attack and escaped into the Spirit Realm.

Traditionally, people have always felt that the stronger the creature, the slower its speed and the more clumsy its movements.

But they forget one thing, for Transcendents, what’s powerful is not just their strength, but their power output rate.

Strength and speed have always complemented each other; without great strength, there would be no explosive acceleration.

Duke Gamos’s multi-eye form has four eyes, each capable of rotating independently, practically giving him a third-person point of view.

Missing his strike, Li Aozi’s body was immediately exposed to the Duke’s grasp. Six arms flailed simultaneously, each strike reaching the speed of a cruise missile, and they were untempted by heat decoys. Before the finest perceptual computer that is the human brain, they relentlessly pursued Li Aozi’s form. Meanwhile, the Duke even released a dense wave of evil spirits, enveloping the skies like a swarm of locusts, swiftly flying towards Li Aozi.

Duke Gamos said nothing, and Li Aozi knew he was serious.

Compared to the grandiose speech of Mingji Professor, akin to a newly crowned jester, Duke Gamos was more like a skeleton entrenched on his throne. Though withered and decayed, he was still monarch.

He bore his own lofty illusions and mandate, always aware of his strengths and weaknesses, knowing the principle that even lions must use their full strength to fight rabbits.

The Transcendents of the Mysterious strand are mostly so—stubborn and arrogant, yet their inner psyche is cowardly and sensitive, stemming from their paranoid and mysterious worldview. From the beginning, they have believed in the supremacy of the mind over matter, the sole concept of consciousness, which leads them to lean more towards a ’divinely chosen’ expectation of Monarchy.

From the beginning, Li Aozi and Alicxia were under immense pressure from the Duke’s all-out assault. Li Aozi had no time for idle chatter; just dodging the Duke’s attacks exhausted all his energy.

But the Duke was different; he could escape into the Spirit Realm at will, and even though Li Aozi could forbid the Duke from using the devouring of Spiritual Bodies to replenish his life, he could never kill him.

The professional leagues favor the extraordinary survival capabilities of the Mysterious Transcendents—failing to kill a Mysterious Transcendent even once means no damage has been done. Their strong control capabilities and excellent error tolerance are highly suited to the needs of professional players.

For Li Aozi, daring to confront a powerful opponent like Duke Gamos was because he had enough confidence to inflict an unbearable colossal amount of damage on the Duke.
