Chapter 213: 036. Turn off the Sun_2

Due to the blizzards, sandstorms, and natural disasters brought about by Ersha, all cities on Azure Star must rely on nuclear fusion reactor-powered barrier generators to exist.

When a natural disaster does not pass through, the power there, although low, is equivalent to a high-voltage electricity grid, which makes smuggling and border crossing an extremely difficult affair.

The news of Malis’s kidnapping had already reached the troops under martial law, and military police vehicles searching for him were everywhere on the streets. Li Aozi could also see agents from Third Rule starting to take action.

It was clear that his presence here had been exposed, and with Madeleine’s crazy traits, she would probably want to flay him alive.

However, unfortunately for them, Li Aozi was never afraid of exposure.

A golden halo lit up in his eyes, and the surrounding light instantaneously distorted, making his figure vanish on the spot.

[Mode Two: Distortion]

This optical distortion was undetectable by Grante’s military police. Li Aozi stepped onto an armored vehicle, hitched a ride for several kilometers, then hopped onto another sedan, bus, and hovercar, effortlessly getting a lift to his destination.

The modest white hemispherical building was right before his eyes. From the outside, no one could tell that this house, indistinguishable from ordinary buildings, was in fact the reactor maintaining the city’s operations.

"The main engine of the shield generator of the capital, Sipeya, is right here."

Li Aozi glanced at the time; in seventeen minutes, the Resistance Army would begin their siege.

Calling it a siege was actually still a street fight won by sacrificing lives. In such an environment, even with artillery support, it was not enough, as armored troops could easily be destroyed by anti-vehicle units hidden in every corner of the city.

Malis had a loose tongue. Thanks to his intelligence, Li Aozi knew that due to the terrorist attack the day before yesterday, the capital’s military police forces were scattered across various districts under martial law, and considering they were still searching for Malis, they probably wouldn’t be able to gather their strength in time.

For Duke Malis, Malis represented his hope to escape pain.

Simply turning off the city’s barrier generator for a while, plunging the land into darkness, would surely make the military police everywhere busy dealing with the chaotic crowds, thus providing the best support for the attacking forces.

The nuclear fusion reactor was surrounded by tight security and an automated mechanical army, but to Li Aozi, infiltrating did not seem to be that troublesome.

He boldly followed an engineer into the complex, casually stealing his identity card. This time, he had brought enough supplies, and with the passive mana recovery of the Mountain Armor, he remained completely invisible without anyone noticing him.

What came next was very simple.

Beep—

The gate unlocked, and Li Aozi arrived at the control panel enveloped in a pale blue light. Some staff were busy there; he raised his palm and pressed it lightly.

Clang!

A fivefold increase in gravity instantly crushed the staff to the floor, dazing them. Li Aozi approached the panel and directly shut down the particle restrainer of the shield, but he kept the city’s power supply on.

"Goodnight."

The artificial sun 6000 meters overhead suddenly extinguished, and the particles, no longer constrained by the magnetic field, shot straight up into the sky. Due to the gathered energy, they formed a deep blue blade that pierced the red-black Ersha Cloud.

Boom—!!!

"Hey, what’s going on?! It’s getting dark!"

"The wind is so strong! Run!"

"The sun has stopped! The end is coming!"

The people who were still crowded on the city streets were instantly blown away by the gale. The originally warm and comfortable climate was torn apart by the cold current from the Outer World. In just a few minutes, the streets were filled with snow, and the piercing cold air spread throughout the city, reaching Sulut Palace.

Crack—Crack—

The sudden change in temperature and the convergence of hot and cold air currents caused the asphalt roads to crack due to the changes in air pressure. All the hovercars abruptly halted and fell from the sky; they didn’t cause congestion, though, as the gale swept them up and flung them into the air together.

"Please enjoy your meal," the servant cautiously connected two large buckets of nutrient paste to the feeding tube in the Duke’s mouth. Due to its overly thick consistency, a machine had to pressurize the substance to push the food through the tube.

Gurgle gurgle...

This viscous substance, hardly resembling food, was naturally devoid of flavor, yet the cost of this single meal could bankrupt a family.

Duke Gamos closed his eyes, trying not to dwell on the nauseating mix of greasy fat and high sugar that gave rise to a vile, sickening taste.

It was for survival, to keep living.

"How is Malis doing?"

"The Third Rule has already gone to help search, we should have news very soon..." The adjutant said cautiously.

"The Third Rule..." Duke Gamos took a deep breath, and the room thundered as if from a storm, the dull booming of the sound waves struck fear into his subjects below, causing even those of Alpha Stage to be unable to stand straight, instinctively wanting to kneel.

The Duke, in the midst of ingesting his high-energy nutrient paste, suddenly became alert. The next moment, the entire Sulut Palace began to shake. A cold draft instantaneously shattered the glass, while the soil and plants in the garden were uprooted and the courtyard’s fountain instantly became encased in ice, hanging in the air like glistening fabric.

Given Sulut Palace was always warm and opulent, the servants in attendance were lightly dressed. The sudden influx of cold air left many shivering uncontrollably, unable to move.

"How despicable! Someone has stolen our sun!"

Duke Gamos was instantly enraged; a dark smoke billowed rapidly from his body as he sat on his throne, his face morphing into various distinct visages.

’Gamos, someone is coming for you.’ A woman’s evil spirit chuckled. ’Good luck to you. I can feel that his power is no less than yours. He possesses an immense attraction. I like him so much—if you give me his soul, I will shield you from pain.’

’Roar roar roar!’ A wild spirit of a beast rolled out from beneath Gamos, its low growl indicating its intent: ’Our spiritual bodies are not afraid of the cold; do not move, we will intercept him ahead of time.’

The myriad spiritual entities parasitizing him offered up their advice, but their underlying intent was unanimous.

They aimed to take control of his body, to seize it for themselves, and then deal with the individual coming for him.

Duke Gamos’s face darkened; he not only ignored the spirits’ suggestions, but also resolutely ordered:

"Call the Beta Rank guards, accompany me to the main hall to take charge. Get the military police moving and be prepared for an opportunistic attack."

No sooner had he spoken than a sharp whistling sound tore through the sky, a rocket headed for Sulut Palace was intercepted in the nick of time by a drone, exploding in the air.

Fragments fell like rain, as if crushed and tossed into the long night.

Darkness had fallen.

Brilliant blue particle beams surged into the red and black clouds, cleaving through the sky like a blade, also serving as a guiding beacon for the soldiers of Bemudes.

"Brethren, fight! It is time to take back the nation that belongs to us!"

The shrill of whistles blew, and Bemudes soldiers flooded the streets. The war against the colonizers and puppet Duke had officially begun.

Drones were battered to the ground by the storm from the Outer World the moment it surged in. Darkness and whirls of snow caused chaos throughout Sipeya City, grounding all the Air Force units. High-energy particle beams fired into the sky drastically changed the surrounding electromagnetic field environment, severely disrupting terrestrial communications.

In a former life, Li Aozi had no idea when Psychic Communication was deployed, but now, since he had destroyed Mingji Humanity’s Laboratory and Xeno was isolated, the rollout of official Psychic Communication equipment seemed indefinitely delayed.

Under these circumstances, if there were Gamma Phase Spirit Mediums, the troops could easily coordinate through the Mind Network.

Of Azure Star’s population of six billion three hundred million, adding up all the Gamma Phase might not even reach double digits, let alone the few who could actually mobilize.

Chaos, darkness, a blizzard—this was the perfect cover.

In such conditions, the numerically superior Bemudes forces quickly penetrated the urban area. Shrouded in night and snowstorm, they charged towards the palace named after the god of fire and engaged in fierce battle with the troops.

Li Aozi no longer concealed his presence, activated Gravity, flew at a low altitude, and set a direct course for Sulut Palace.
