Chapter 195: 019. Bloodline Fluctuation
[Constructing genes...]
Li Aozi lacked knowledge in "pharmacodynamics," so by the time the medication took effect, he had already embarked on his journey to Grante. The progress of the gene construction proceeded at a leisurely pace, sometimes even halting altogether, much to Li Aozi’s dismay.
He considered it as a way to pass the time during his journey.
However, Li Aozi’s journey was not smooth.
First off, the promised exclusive plane service from Sky Ring was disrupted by a sudden natural disaster, so the flight couldn’t proceed.
Fortunately, all the documents prepared by Sky Ring were in order. Worried that the Third Rule Agents from Frost Plated might grow suspicious, SCIA had him transfer his flight to the neighboring Sasko Republic and then take a train to bypass Frost Plated and enter the West Continent Wasteland.
The vast plateau was magnificent, but it lacked any signs of life. Li Aozi, with his robust physique, was unafraid of altitude sickness. After walking several kilometers on foot and meeting up with SCIA agents in the area, they provided him with an off-road vehicle filled with supplies and a tourist visa to Grante.
"Here is your ride."
Li Aozi took down the supply bag, reversed gravity, and directly took off from the ground, flying swiftly at low altitude across the outer world.
The speed of the car couldn’t compare to his flying speed.
Furthermore, Li Aozi didn’t expect that he would encounter two consecutive snow tornadoes along the way. With thunder roaring, winds sweeping across the desolate land, and the earth barren and bleak, Li Aozi had to repeatedly stop and use gravity to create a sturdy sphere, securely anchoring it to the ground.
It was tough to wait until the tornadoes passed. The magnetic field changes caused by the natural disasters rendered his navigation system useless.
With Azure Star’s atmosphere blockaded by Ersha, no orbital satellites were available to aid in positioning. Li Aozi had no choice but to sleep in place, pitching a tent against a mountain, brewing coffee, resting, and browsing the player forum.
As the countdown for the closed beta drew near, users on the forum had basically identified the first batch of settlers to Azure Star. Apart from some corporate units and military personnel, some veterans had even organized the detailed list of personnel names.
Since the professional club’s strength of the first batch of settlers was quite poor, Li Aozi did not pay much attention to the original few professional players. Instead, he checked the players’ lists of large guilds and individual forces, discovering several interesting characters.
Especially an independent player with the ID "Caramel Snail." According to some forum veterans, Caramel Snail was a newbie with no discernible background.
Li Aozi was quite familiar with this fellow. Caramel Snail was a colleague and a popular streamer in the future, known for being the "Destroyer" series’ solo king, "Twilight Sword Saint," holding the highest record of 209 consecutive PK wins in Quan Starry Abyss’s history.
Unlike Li Aozi’s "Meteor Fall Master" pathway, "Twilight Sword Saint" was a highly popular path. Caramel Snail was considered the top candidate for becoming the God Embracer of the "Twilight Sword Saint" pathway.
However, this profession had the same problem as the "Meteor Fall Master" path: due to various restrictions, it couldn’t make it onto the competition stage. Instead, other paths of the "Destroyer" series, such as the "Destroyer of Falsehoods," "Extreme Martial," and "Master of Shadows," were frequent visitors to the competition scene.
As a rare individual force player, Caramel Snail immediately garnered attention. When someone on the forum asked him which area he would descend into, he answered without hesitation:
"Sky Ring. I really like the clash of swords."
Well, this kid had good taste. Li Aozi found someone whose beliefs aligned with his own, feeling good.
The strong wind continued for a long time, and when it finally ceased, Li Aozi suddenly felt an uncanny impulse. He spread his palm, and red-black crystals began to grow from the cracks that appeared.
The system promptly popped up with a series of notifications:
[Integrating Gene Sequence]
[Releasing Invalid Gene Fragments]
[Replicating Gene Fragments]
[New Arcane Gene Constructed]
Li Aozi rubbed his neck, admitting that his level was still a bit behind that of Mingji Humanity. At least their drugs took effect quickly, while he had to wait a full forty hours.
[Child of the Primordial Abyss, you have opened a new doorway to dominion.]
[Just a tiny bit of power has granted you new strength. Astonishing.]
[Please choose one of the following as your subordinate arcane:]
A——[Physical Strengthening]: Zeta Level (ζ, the sixth Greek letter) Arcane, dual benefits of [Constitution] and [Charm]. You possess a steel body; your robust physique can withstand ordinary bullets and release powerful strength.
Arcane Performance:
Active Activation——All muscle fibers are strengthened and proliferated, muscles instantly swell, and bones become extremely hard (bone hardness is ten times that of steel).
Passive State——Each time you advance a tier, additional +15 Constitution, permanent +100 Health Points;
"Steel and iron bones, towering and uncorrupted."
B——[Electric Shock]: Alpha Level (α, the first Greek letter) Arcane, single benefit of [Charm]. You can connect the electric cells in your body to generate 30 volts of electricity, just that.
Arcane Performance:
Active Activation——Discharge, 30 volts, 0.2 milliamps, be satisfied.
Passive State——Immune to paralysis caused by electric shocks.
"Come, shake hands."
C——[Rose Dragon Scales]: Kappa Level (κ, the tenth Greek letter) Arcane, single benefit of [Charm]. You have integrated some genes from the Dragon Race into your body, enhancing your bloodline potential. Dragon scales are just the beginning.
Arcane Performance:
Active Activation——Cover your body with dragon scales that resemble rose petals. Each dragon scale’s strength is fifty times that of stainless steel, with certain heat absorption properties. The scales will shed when subjected to excessive impact.
Passive State——Embed Dragon Race genes in your gene sequence, slowly evolving your species toward the Dragon Race.
D——[Mountain Armor]: Kappa Level (κ, the tenth Greek letter) Arcane, single benefit of [Charm]. Your genes have surprisingly achieved a combination similar to that of spellcasters, absorbing elemental power from the earth to form indestructible armor on your body.
Arcane Performance:
Active Activation——Consume Arcane Energy to summon sturdy armor on your body.
Passive State——Absorb elemental power from free space to restore Arcane Energy.
——————————
"Tsk, cheap things are never good."
Li Aozi was somewhat disgruntled.
The quality of these arcane abilities was mediocre at best, only [Rose Dragon Scales] and [Mountain Armor] being somewhat decent.
[Rose Dragon Scales] had a fatal flaw. It would modify the possessor’s genes to a certain extent, integrating Dragon Race genes.
As is well known, what constitutes a Dragon Race? Just a tiny bit of dragon blood, and you’re considered part of the Dragon Race.
The hierarchy within the Dragon Race is clear. The upper levels have absolute dominance and genetic control over the lower levels. High-level Dragon Race members can even remotely sense and control the behavior and consciousness of lower-level Dragon Race members.
Li Aozi didn’t want to create a fatal weakness because of a mere Kappa Level arcane.
Moreover, he knew that the high-level Dragon Race member, Glina Swirl, was currently in the Tenth Narrative. He didn’t dare to let his guard down.
Although the Dragon Race’s lineage was immensely powerful, Li Aozi wasn’t interested in pursuing that route.
As a transmigrator, Li Aozi knew there were three bloodline pathways to avoid: Dragon Race, Titan Giant, and Technico Race.
The potential of these three races had already been capped with no promising prospects. Li Aozi planned to advance along the "Meteor Fall Master" pathway, with no need to pursue a different race’s lineage.
Strictly speaking, Void and Demon races were also off-limits. The Void race had an unstable evolutionary path, extremely anti-reality and anti-physical laws. Who knew what they could evolve into? There were even players who found themselves without a brain after evolving along the Void path.
All Demons, regardless of nationality or pure blood status, were essentially citizens of Outer Domain Society: Pergale.
The Demon race was a powerful species with both technological and magical capabilities. Every Demon had a strong spellcaster potential, with even the most inferior Demon being naturally proficient in magic. So why is it called magic?
There’s a widely circulated belief: The Demon civilization existed before the cosmos. Their methods of transforming and understanding the world were called magic.
Long ago, Pergale, as the leader of the Demon civilization, was eager to share knowledge about magic, and it was discovered that the Demon civilization had potent technological means, capable of true mastery in both magic and technology.
But for some reason, the thriving and courteous Demon civilization suddenly chose to become a society, becoming enemies of all other civilizations.
Li Aozi didn’t want to be labeled as a traitor to society; that label was too significant and would make him a target for everyone.
Arcane abilities already defied common physical laws. For instance, Li Aozi’s "Gravity" had an effect of only 150G but could bend light through gravity distortion, allowing him to become invisible.
Anyone who knew about gravitational lensing would understand that even a massive celestial body like the sun could only bend light by about 1°.
So how could he become invisible? Li Aozi truly didn’t know.
A prominent feature of arcane abilities was: Even if I didn’t understand the principles behind them, I could still use them and achieve this effect. When I finally understood my arcane ability, the world would be on the verge of destruction.
First use it, then understand it.
The [Fine Artistry] series was quite the opposite, requiring mastery of the theoretical and objective principles before releasing skill effects. This behavior made it universally applicable and reproducible, making it more suitable for broad dissemination.
This approach was: First understand, then use.
Because of this, non-Alpha Level arcane abilities were often too shallow with no potential for further development. Besides, almost all arcane abilities possessed limitless potential.
The Zeta Level [Physical Strengthening] was just alright, but it was a common ability, and upgrading it with gene fragments was costly with an ordinary evolutionary path.
Its origin was undoubtedly Sequence 82: [Bloodline]. No need to think twice; this arcane was exclusive to "Conqueror." The "Meteor Fall Master" pathway had something even more powerful.
——Sequence 6: [Strong Force]
