Chapter 160: No more worries

Chapter 160: No more worries

"Damn Frost Plated bastard, such an ungrateful prick!"

"Screw you, dumbass white ghost, they took your Arcane Energy and you still paid them."

The fight inside the carriage escalated quickly, and it was just about to turn into a brawl when the carriage door suddenly burst open.

"Help!"

Disheveled and covered in blood, Gina cried out as she collapsed to the floor, instantly drawing everyone’s attention with her pitiful appearance.

"Hodder has gone mad! He’s not human, he’s trying to kill me!"

"It’s Gina, one of our Outer World people." Someone was about to help her up when suddenly, a bolt-action rifle was jabbed into the carriage, and the trigger was pulled at Gina.

Bang!

The gunshot put an end to the quarrel as all the passengers turned in shock and fear towards the door.

The bullet missed Gina, leaving a clear bullet hole in the back of the carriage.

"Don’t get near her!"

Hodder, forehead bleeding and face contorted, said deeply:

"This is not Gina, it’s a monster!"

He held his rifle, ready to recock, but an Outer World person, furious, smashed a stool on his shoulder. Hodder cried out and fell to his knees, the rifle clattering to the ground.

"Ah—!"

"Screw you, Frost Plated bastard! Go home and bully your own women if you’re so tough!"

"Seize him!"

"He must have tried something with that girl, got rejected, and flew into a rage—disgusting Frost Plated bastard."

The Outer World people began to accuse and curse at Hodder, yet he remained unfazed, his eyes red and desperately shouting:

"Don’t worry about me! Control it! It’s not Gina, it killed Li Mu and Gina, then took on Gina’s appearance!"

However, his words only sparked contempt from both the Frost Plated and the Outer World people.

"What a joke, Mr. Leoz already took our Arcane Energy a long time ago."

"Ha, typical Frost Plated Gouyu, even after experiencing Mingji Humanity, their character is still pitiful."

Gina covered her face, crying, heavily shocked and trembling uncontrollably. People always subconsciously sympathize with the seemingly weaker side, especially when it’s a woman.

"Lock him up until Lady Selya arrives to judge him!" someone suggested.

"Right, I don’t want to be on the same path as a murderer and a thug."

"No! I’m not a murderer! I didn’t kill anyone! It killed Gina!"

As Hodder was dragged away, he glared hatefully at Gina and roared at her:

"You monster, you ate Gina—I’m going to kill you! Rip open your belly, pull out your intestines, and chop them up!"

His arms and legs were tied with rope, and then he was stuffed into a luggage compartment, brutally beaten by two men. One man pointed a rifle at Hodder, forcing him to huddle in the corner.

"Don’t even think about escaping." The man said, "We won’t let you harm Gina again."

"Harm Gina?"

Hodder’s eyes nearly burst with fire as he said indignantly:

"I like Gina, how could I possibly harm her, but I can’t tolerate someone who’s killed Gina and is disguising themselves as her."

"Enough talk!"

The man closed the cabinet impatiently, completely shutting off Hodder’s defense.

Due to this minor episode, the earlier quarrel suddenly calmed down, leaving everyone in silent embarrassment, without anyone wanting to be the first to admit their mistake.

People checked Gina’s injuries, and fortunately, the girl was unharmed.

"Hey, you have blood on your neck too." The girl inspecting noticed the fresh blood on Gina’s neck, immediately reached out to check by pulling back the collar.

"Don’t!"

Gina screamed, shrinking away in terror. The girl had to retract her hand, worried about further upsetting Gina, and instead handed her a towel. To ensure Gina would rest well, people cleared a sleeping berth, set up a hot water bottle, cotton blankets, and once Gina lay down, the girl planned to get up and leave.

"Wait..."

Gina pleaded softly:

"Don’t leave me alone, I’m really scared..."

Seeing Gina’s tearful, pitiful eyes, the girl’s heart softened, and she returned to the room, also closing the door to the sleeping berth.

Youth Number continued forward, with the driver Zhou Liefeng focusing intently on the road ahead. Driving vehicles in the Outer World required undivided attention at all times, because a slight problem could mean walking after a vehicle breakdown, or at worst, death and the body left in the wilderness.

"Have some hot water!"

A female voice sounded from behind, Zhou Liefeng glanced over from the corner of his eyes. It was that Frost Plated woman named Qiu Ran holding out a cup of water. Zhou Liefeng took the cup but didn’t drink immediately, setting it aside while he continued to drive.

Qiu Ran didn’t mind. She looked up at the vast darkness ahead and couldn’t help but sigh:

"I wonder when we can go back..."

"We still have a six-hour drive to Bridge Aole Station, where we will stop to rest and do some simple repairs."

"I see. Thank you for your hard work."

Qiu Ran smiled, then turned and left.

Shortly after she left, Zhou Liefeng opened the side window and poured the water from the cup outside.

Qiu Ran returned to Leoz’s bedside and sat down. Sensing someone’s presence, the sleeping Leoz suddenly twitched his eyelids but calmed down again once he recognized the familiar scent.

"You really never stop, do you, Leoz? So young, yet you’ve aged yourself like an old man..."

At this, she felt an inexplicable pang of sorrow.

Hearing the noises and arguments from the other carriages initially seemed reasonable, but whenever she saw Leoz’s aged appearance, his face marred by spots and wrinkles—it made all the doubts and debates about him seem utterly ridiculous.

Nomi called her naive, but Qiu Ran didn’t find it demeaning; she knew she wasn’t particularly intelligent, but she at least considered herself to have Distinct Love and Hate.

When a person sacrifices his life, youth, and immense effort for a group of strangers, under no circumstances should they have the right to criticize Leoz. That was a fact.

Qiu Ran unconsciously muttered:

"Your fight is over, just rest well now. Have a good sleep."

Leoz’s lips moved, uttering words almost like in a trance, like Dream Talk:

"Nomi... Arcane Energy..."

"What about Nomi’s Arcane Energy?"

Upon hearing this, Qiu Ran leaned closer to inspect Leoz more closely and soon noticed something off.

Leoz’s facial skin seemed obscure in texture, with a yellowish-white film over it. Qiu Ran stared and realized it wasn’t dirt but a swollen keratin layer.

She cautiously reached out, helping Leoz peel off the thick dead skin on his face, and was then shocked to find under the dead skin, Leoz’s visage had significantly reverted from its previous decrepit state, the skin much firmer, with noticeably fewer age spots and wrinkles.

"Is this... Nomi’s Arcane Energy helping you?!"
