Chapter 159: 129. Night of Revelry
Before he finished speaking, a fierce punch landed on his face, and the glasses of the Frost Plated man immediately flew off. He staggered, and before he could steady himself, the Outer World youth he was arguing with immediately rushed up and kicked him, causing him to fall to the ground.
"What are you doing? No matter what, you shouldn’t hit people!"
"I’m fucking hitting you ungrateful Frost Plated bastards!"
"Ungrateful? Mr. Du, Du Zexin, is also a Frost Plated person! You’re the one who can’t differentiate between good and bad, you piece of trash!"
"To hell with you!"
When the brawling erupted, it immediately ignited the surrounding powder keg.
Cooling down from the joy of being liberated, the Frost Plated People and the Outer World People immediately resurrected the ethnic conflicts and antagonistic hatred that had been accumulating.
Especially regarding Arcane Energy—the Frost Plated People, though varied in wealth, were all brought up under the influence of capitalism and were heavily self-interested, particularly concerning their own gains and losses.
In their view, since it wasn’t them spending money to hire, or begging Li Aozi for aid, since Li Aozi decided to rescue people on his own accord, that meant he wasn’t expecting repayment—in that case, it was only natural to reclaim the Arcane Energy that originally belonged to them.
Outer World People, on the other hand, although even more fierce and selfishly cruel—had much simpler thoughts.
You saved my life, so there’s nothing more to say. Forget about repayments, if you wanted me to take a bullet for you, even that could be possible—after all, in the Outer World, nothing is more important than bonds and loyalty; they hold more weight than any contract.
Moreover, in their eyes, Li Aozi, who could annihilate Bayo Kong and the infamous Mingji Humanity and who liberated them from death and enslavement, was indeed a living legend.
Someone even found Li Aozi’s Scavenger coat. As one of the three great mystical organizations of the Outer World, the image of the Scavenger was deeply ingrained in people’s hearts; at that moment, Li Aozi immediately became an emblematic hero in the hearts of the Outer World People, with some even claiming Li Aozi to be "the greatest Outer World hero after the Anaerobes."
The Outer World People were not in a majority, and there were also the elderly and women among them. Almost all of the former Infected on the Frost Plated side were lower-class males. In a fight, it truly wasn’t clear who would have the upper hand.
Only moments earlier, both sides, which had been happily celebrating their freedom, quickly turned to confrontations and cursing. Some even started physically attacking each other, with a few individuals brawling, and some even picked up chairs and pipes, gradually escalating towards an all-out armed fight.
Li Mu was timid, but spurred by emotions, and the chants from the Outer World People were thunderously loud. He, a skinny boy, suddenly felt an infinite strength surge through him from the crowd.
Yet, instead of focusing on the Frost Plated men, he looked ahead at the woman in front of him, with a head hung low and slightly plump figure, dressed in thin clothes. Though not beautiful, her mature body still emitted an enticing aura.
Just then, the bathroom door opened, and as the person inside stepped out, seeing their compatriots being beaten, they immediately rushed forward and gave several Outer World People a severe beating.
Li Mu licked his lips and moved closer to the droop-headed woman, pressing his body tightly against hers. Thinking about Gina flirting with Frost Plated men outside, flames of nameless rage ignited within him.
Seizing the moment the woman entered the bathroom, he immediately followed her in, locked the door, and pressed the Frost Plated woman against the bathroom wall. His eyes burned with desire as he bit her shoulder and tore open the flimsy fabric.
"I’ll teach you ungrateful Frost Plated bastards a good lesson!"
Lacking the strength to join his compatriots in beating up others, bullying a woman should be fine, right?
After all, Frost Plated men were being bullied by women too. Now that he himself was on top of the Frost Plated men, strutting proudly, perhaps they should even thank him.
Li Mu cursed loudly while his hands roamed indecently all over. But no matter what he did, Gina’s figure and smile remained persistently in his mind.
He thought he had fallen in love with Gina, driven by youthful impulses leading to his errors, but every time he tried to replace the woman’s face with Gina’s, he realized one problem—the Frost Plated woman, for some reason, always kept her head down, facing his aggressive advances passively, hardly resisting, which made him less satisfied.
"Bitch! Who do you think you are, not even bothering to look up at me?!"
So, he raised his hand, grabbed her chin, and lifted it upward. The woman’s sleek black hair parted, and a streak of lightning in the distant sky brightly illuminated her skin—Li Mu immediately noticed a distinct red cross scar on her neck, resembling a branding burn, starkly prominent.
The Frost Plated woman stepped back and raised her hand to block her face.
Li Mu glanced at her, thinking to himself that this woman must have had her face disfigured, but that suited him just fine, as he could now humiliate this freak all the more:
"Are you hiding your face because you are so ugly?"
Saying this, he forcefully pried her arms away from her face.
Clang, clang—
The armored train passed through the tunnel, plunging the carriage into an even darker view.
The bathroom door swung open, and Li Mu walked out refreshed. He gently closed the door and made his way through the crowd.
Hum—
The train emerged from the tunnel, and suddenly the lightning lit up the sky, illuminating the carriage once again.
People continued bashing, cursing, and arguing, hardly noticing the short-statured Outer Worlder, Li Mu, moving through the chaos.
Rumble, rumble—
The rolling thunder arrived belatedly, startling Gina and Hodder, who were on guard at the rear of the train.
"It’s terrifying," Gina muttered timidly, "looks like the disaster is coming. Can we survive it?"
As she spoke, she unconsciously leaned towards the burly Hodder.
"Don’t worry, the front of this train alone weighs dozens of tons, plus it’s armored with steel plates. The wind definitely won’t move it," Hodder said cheerfully, feeling Gina moving closer. His face also flushed, as he subtly shifted his shoulder closer to her, ready to lend her some support.
Gina, sensing the connection, instinctively reached out her fingers toward Hodder’s large hand.
"Yeah."
A male voice suddenly rang out from behind, causing Hodder and Gina to jump apart, their faces flushed. They turned to see who it was, and Gina breathed a sigh of relief:
"You scared me, it’s just you, Li Mu."
"Ahem, your sudden appearance caught us off guard."
"I’m just a bit afraid of lightning, um, that’s really it..."
The two of them fumbled with their words in a rush, while Li Mu just smiled.
"Okay, I believe you," he said.
Crack!
Thrilling flashes of lightning tore through the sky, the cool, blue-white glow illuminating Li Mu’s upper body. Hodder glanced over and clearly saw a crimson scar on Li Mu’s neck.
That red cross-shaped scar, looking like a burn mark, was particularly striking.
Before he could ponder it further, the next moment, thunder roared, and the rain poured down heavily.
The storm had arrived.
