[You have killed a member of your own faction!]
[As the Faction Leader "Professor" possesses a Specialty, Faction Favorability and Leader Personal Favorability are linked.]
[Mingji Humanity Favorability: 200 (Fondness)]
No matter how many people he killed, as long as the Professor’s favorability towards him remained unchanged, Mingji Humanity would never turn against him and attack him outright.
How ridiculous... how pathetic... but not pitiful at all.
Because by doing this, it meant that every single one of them was following the will of the Professor. Whatever the Professor had done, they had assisted and were willing to continue assisting.
When Leoz walked out of the ICU, Nomi and Qiu Ran had already been waiting for a while. The former, waving a wrench, had just smashed a female nurse’s skull. She turned her head towards Leoz, curling her lip:
"You’re really slow. The alarm has gone off twice; why did it take you so long to come out?"
"I found out some information—Assistant Doctor Anna has already obtained the Professor’s authority and has now headed to the third floor."
Leoz said, casually pocketing a scalpel with an eyeball on it to avoid losing it in the ensuing fight, he glanced at Qiu Ran and asked:
"Are you okay? Are you sure you want to follow? It is not too late to give the Arcane Energy to me now."
"Thanks for your concern, but from now on, I don’t want to rely on anyone else’s protection," she replied.
Qiu Ran tied her red hair into a ponytail, gave them both a thumbs-up, and said:
"A true woman never becomes a burden on anyone. Go ahead and fight boldly, Mr. Leoz, Miss Nomi."
Leoz nodded and turned into the corridor.
Beep—beep—
The warning sound erupted again, and the synthesized electronic female voice announced through the broadcast:
"Alert: Unknown intrusion—please stay in your own rooms; do not go out, I repeat, do not go out—"
Squeak!
Leoz kicked open the door; the Mingji Physicians hiding in the corner of the dormitory immediately screamed. One of them, quicker to react, hurriedly pulled out her weapon and aimed it at Leoz.
"Kneel."
Leoz waved his hand, invoking Gravity Compression. The opponent instantly knelt down, her knee joints shattered, oozing bright red blood that stained her trousers. She lay prostrate on the ground, her entire skeleton as if filled with lead, unable even to raise her head. The sudden pain caused her to accidentally discharge her gun, immediately opening a hole in her roommate’s abdomen from which intestines and blood gushed out.
He turned his head towards Nomi and said, "Don’t come in."
Leoz gently closed the door, and soon after, horrifying wails and screams, pleas and shrieks chilling to the spine, came from inside, then abruptly stopped.
Click.
The door opened, and Leoz, unblemished by blood, said lightly, "Let’s move on to the next place."
Nomi didn’t ask questions and followed him, wielding a wrench. Curiosity got the better of Qiu Ran, and she peeked inside.
"Ugh—vomit—"
Immediately, she supported herself against the wall, vomiting uncontrollably.
"Idiot Sister! He told you not to come in for a reason."
Nomi turned around and patted her on the shoulder, her eyes catching a fleeting glimpse of Leoz who had burst through the door.
"Although he says it’s to resist the Four Nations that he’s attacking Mingji... this guy seems to be mixing personal vendettas in there too," she mused.
Oh well.
She might not have gone to school, but she knew enough about dealing with people.
Everyone has their own privacy and secrets. Hedgehogs that get too close might bleed each other dry.
That Red Arrow person, his secrets seemed to be mounting—so what?
At least for now, being able to fight side by side, to stand together against the invincible Four Nations was enough.
"Come on, keep up—don’t you die here, Qiu Ran." Nomi muttered, "Leoz has some tough work to finish; you’d miss it if you were dead."
"As long as I don’t have to see such scenes..." Qiu Ran’s face was ghastly. Every time she closed her eyes, the image of the floor covered entirely with bloody remains came back to haunt her, causing a strong surge of nausea:
"Ugh!"
"Come on, can’t you handle this? Hey, Leoz, go on your own..."
Nomi’s call received no response; when she turned back, Leoz had already disappeared.
"Great, he’s gone off on his own again."
[Objective: 34/109]
Leoz moved slowly.
In reality, he derived no pleasure from these massacres; each swing of the chains and deployment of gravity was simply performing an action, then waiting for the effect.
It was, in fact, like before, like when he used to play games—numb, boring, mechanically repeating actions to kill off those data points.
But in reality, beginning from the 18th female physician, Leoz felt somewhat tired.
Blood soaked the chains making them slick and heavy in his palms.
The deep shadows imprinted in his retina, their dying wails constantly refreshed his understanding.
Curses, abuse, pleas, hatred, confusion, bewilderment, pain.
The frequency of people’s despair and fear was all too similar, so much so that Leoz’s physiological mechanisms as a human felt a strong resonance and discomfort.
