Chapter 81: Chapter 81: The Bane of Poison Flies (Please Vote and Add to Favorites) _1
Yan Xing could not remember how many chickens he had brought back from the real world, but he remembered what they looked like clearly. They were white-feathered and only weighed about four pounds.
Most of the chickens in the chicken yard still looked the way they did when Yan Xing had bought them. However, there were more than ten chickens that, while still white-plumed and white-feathered, were... over one meter tall!
Were these chickens?
But Yan Xing had to admit that these big fellows were indeed chickens.
They lazily strutted around the chicken yard like chickens, pecking at something on the ground with lowered heads. From time to time, they would use their claws, strong as steel, to scratch at the earth, flinging dirt and startling the smaller chickens into frantic flight.
When the two farmers who were feeding them approached, these big fatties weighing over 200 pounds ran over, CLUCKING as they came.
This scared the observing werewolves, sending them scattering in all directions.
Facing Yan Xing’s inquiry, the two farmers replied, "Master, these are the chickens you told us to raise. We don’t know what happened. These thirteen chickens have an extraordinary appetite and grow fast.
"We... we were happy at first. We thought the chickens Your Lordship gave us were supposed to be like this—so much meat!"
Yan Xing was very certain and convinced that the chickens he had brought were not supposed to look like this.
Something definitely went wrong somewhere.
But what could be the reason these chickens grew so big, and how did they manage to eat the Fifth Order Poison Flies?
"Is the Clan Leader of the Mud Pond Werewolf Tribe here?"
Yan Xing felt that the issue with the chickens could be put aside for now. It was more important to deal with the matter of them eating the Poison Flies.
The Poison Flies were vital to the survival of the werewolf tribes.
Hearing Yan Xing’s inquiry, a werewolf leaning on a crutch came forward.
He bowed his head to Yan Xing and then said, "Respected Master Yan Xing, I am Long Leg, the Clan Leader of the Mud Pond Werewolf Tribe. The five Poison Flies that your magical beasts ate... they were all the Poison Flies our tribe possessed."
There was a hint of sadness in Long Leg’s voice.
Without the Poison Flies for protection, the werewolf tribes would struggle to survive in the battles of the Swamp. He himself was getting old, unsure if he could tame new Poison Flies.
Yan Xing reassured Long Leg, "Clan Leader Long Leg, I offer a profound apology for this incident, and the Eternal Domain will provide full compensation for the damage caused.
"You need not worry about your tribe.
"The Werewolf Tribes in the entire southern border region of the Thunderous Swamp and my Eternal Domain are now one family. The security of Mud Pond is the security of Eternal Commerce and Trade.
"The army we have jointly established will surely be able to protect Mud Pond.
"You just mentioned that these chickens of mine are magical beasts... Could you please explain that to me in detail?"
Hearing Yan Xing’s promise, Long Leg finally put aside the worries in his heart.
With the protection of the Eternal Domain, there was no need to fear his tribe being swallowed by other werewolf tribes.
Then Long Leg explained to Yan Xing what magical beasts were.
Magical beasts are species mutated from ordinary animals by absorbing magic power. They generally possess very strong fighting abilities and have some magical attack capabilities.
For example, Poison Flies are mutated from the numerous mosquitoes and flies in the swamp through demonization.
The robust chickens in the Eternal Domain’s chicken yard were clearly magical beasts that had undergone demonization.
Other Werewolf Clan Leaders were able to recognize these chickens as magical beasts, thinking that Master Yan Xing had specially tamed them. Hence, when feeding and training their own Poison Flies, they would usually keep away from the chicken yard.
But Long Leg was old, and his eyesight was not good, so he did not notice these big fellows in the chicken yard.
He had gathered his tamed Poison Flies right near the chicken yard.
This turned out to be a case of stirring up a hornet’s nest.
Isn’t it natural for chickens to eat bugs?
And so these magical beast chickens simply leapt out of the yard and, in the blink of an eye, pecked to death and devoured Long Leg’s Poison Flies before hopping back into the yard.
Long Leg hadn’t reacted throughout the whole process. He hadn’t seen anything clearly before his Poison Flies were gone.
It was only after being informed by other Werewolves that he learned it was the magical beast chickens raised by Lord Yan Xing that had eaten his Poison Flies.
Following Long Leg’s account, there was no doubt left about the case.
The Poison Flies had been eaten by those chickens.
The chicken yard’s fence was only about a meter high. Ordinary chickens could flap their wings and jump out, so how could it contain these magical beast chickens that stood over a meter tall?
Now, with the plaintiff and victim in front of him and the culprit identified, How should they proceed?
Should these chickens be slaughtered—deep-fried, braised, or made into soup—as compensation for the Mud Pond Werewolf Tribe’s Poison Flies?
Would the chicken meat still taste the same after their transformation into magical beasts?
Yan Xing felt his mouth watering at the thought.
But before indulging in chicken, the matter at hand still needed to be resolved.
"Clan Leader Long Leg," Yan Xing stopped thinking about chicken dishes and addressed Long Leg. "I apologize to you once again and will compensate for your loss. What do you wish to receive from the Eternal Domain as compensation for the death of your five Poison Flies?
"Food, weapons, armor... anything within my means, I am willing to provide..."
But before Yan Xing could finish speaking, Long Leg immediately said, "I hope that Lord Yan Xing will bestow upon me one of the magical beast chickens."
Li Zhua, who had arrived beside Yan Xing at some point, also stepped forward and said, "The Stenchwater Forest Werewolf Tribe humbly requests that Lord Yan Xing sell us one of the magical beast chickens. To obtain it, the Stenchwater Forest Werewolf Tribe is willing to pay any price."
Duan’er also emerged, "Our Red Mud Wetland Werewolf Tribe feels the same. Please, Lord Yan Xing, sell us one of the magical beast chickens."
The other Werewolf Clan Leaders, one after another, expressed their hope that the Eternal Domain would sell the magical beast chickens.
All the Werewolf Clan Leaders had gathered!
This made Yan Xing realize that he might have raised something extraordinary.
The Werewolf Clan Leaders were so eager to buy the magical beast chickens, surely not to take them home for meat.
Therefore... they couldn’t be sold carelessly.
Yan Xing said to Long Leg and the many Werewolf Clan Leaders, "Regarding how to deal with these magical beast chickens, please give me some time to think.
"Now, everyone please disperse.
"Clan Leader Duan’er, please stay behind... Clan Leader Li Zhua, you stay as well."
The Werewolf Clan Leaders obeyed Yan Xing’s order and left the chicken yard. They cast envious glances towards Duan’er and Li Zhua. The Red Mud Wetland and Stenchwater Forest Werewolf Tribes are truly going to become formidable this time!
Peace returned to the surroundings of the chicken yard.
Yan Xing looked at Duan’er and Li Zhua. Their eyes, which frequently darted towards the magical beast chickens beside them, were filled with extremely excited expressions.
"Speak... why do all of you want these magical beast chickens?"
After all, Yan Xing was not from this world and only had a superficial understanding of the swamp. His grasp of the Poison Flies’ status within the swamp wasn’t deep.
After all, in the normal hierarchy of creatures from First Order to Twelfth Order, Poison Flies that could be knocked down with insecticide didn’t seem like a formidable force.
But the Werewolf Clan Leaders all knew that once these magical beast chickens entered the swamp, they could bring about a revolutionary change.
Poison Flies were the tactical core of the Swamp Tribe.
In large-scale swamp battles, the use of Poison Flies persisted from start to finish.
Their flight, stealth, and toxicity made the Poison Flies’ attacks incredibly difficult to defend against.
Within the entire swamp, there were no effective means to counteract Poison Flies, and the number of Poison Flies one possessed often became the standard by which a swamp power’s strength was judged.
The magical beast chickens raised by the Eternal Domain, through their recent "crime," declared: the bane of Poison Flies had appeared.
