Me, A Villain! Is It So Wrong To Live off The Heroines? -
Chapter 47 - Remember, Don’t Die So Soon!
Chapter 047: Remember, Don’t Die So Soon!
Listening to Su Mingxuan’s words, Fang Ming felt a sudden wave of awkwardness. He had assumed that stepping in like this would win Shen Weiwei’s favor. In truth, he had been tailing her all along—he’d seen everything, including the moment she rear-ended the sports car.
But he had been waiting.
Waiting for the perfect opportunity.
Waiting for Su Mingxuan to pressure her, so he could heroically intervene and resolve the issue, painting himself as her savior. Who knew Su Mingxuan would ruin the whole setup with just one sentence?
And he wasn’t wrong. Shen Weiwei was fiercely independent. By stepping in uninvited, Fang Ming had likely just offended her instead. Originally, she would’ve been grateful in her moment of desperation. But now that Su Mingxuan had pointed it out, it only served as a brutal reminder.
Sure enough, Shen Weiwei’s expression changed as if she’d been slapped in the face. This was her mess—why did someone else need to clean it up? If someone else paid for her, she’d still be in debt, just to a different person. What was the difference?
With a small frown, Shen Weiwei said, “Thank you for your kindness, but I’d rather repay this myself.”
Fang Ming stood there, speechless, awkwardly putting his card away.
Su Mingxuan smiled faintly. He always found it entertaining when these supposed “goddesses” got tangled up in their own contradictions. Kind of like Jiang Ting, really.
Speaking of which, he still hadn’t run into Lin Feng—wonder what that guy was up to lately? Still obsessed with his goddess? Has his cultivation made any progress?
Fang Ming didn’t let the setback rattle him for long. After a moment’s pause, he turned to Shen Weiwei and said, “Sorry, I was out of line. It’s just that when I saw an old classmate being bullied, I couldn’t stand by.”
“Classmate?” Shen Weiwei looked at him with a puzzled expression. He did seem familiar…
Fang Ming smiled and said sincerely, “I’m Fang Ming, your classmate from middle school.”
Her eyes brightened with surprise. “Oh! It’s you? Wow, it’s been so long! I didn’t expect to run into you here.”
Her gaze was clear and sincere—just a happy surprise at meeting an old friend. Nothing more. No hidden meanings. Just recognition.
Seeing that she remembered him, Fang Ming’s eyes softened. He smiled warmly. “Yeah, it’s been ten years already. Back then, it was hard to keep in touch. If we get a chance, maybe we should gather the old classmates for a reunion sometime.”
Shen Weiwei nodded with a smile. “Sounds good.”
She glanced at Su Mingxuan, then blushed slightly. Maybe now wasn’t the right time to talk about this. After all, she still had this mess to deal with.
“Um…” She looked at Su Mingxuan, a bit sheepish. “My salary’s not much. Seventeen thousand a year is really all I can spare. I still have to pay for living expenses and medical treatments. If I don’t treat my condition, I might die halfway through… and then you won’t get your money.”
Fang Ming’s eyes darkened with pain.
He remembered it all too clearly—in his past life, a year from now, Shen Weiwei’s illness had worsened beyond the reach of medicine. Despite her optimistic and strong-willed nature, the disease had eventually claimed her life.
That regret haunted him. He’d never even gotten to confess. By the time he found her, her smile remained only in the photo on her headstone. He’d knelt there, crying through the night.
Su Mingxuan noticed their expressions and couldn’t help but smirk. Originally, he had no intention of letting it go. Letting someone take sixty years to repay him was like letting them leech for free. But now that a Child of Fate was involved, things were different.
Whatever the Child of Fate wanted the most, Su Mingxuan was determined not to let him have it.
With that thought, Su Mingxuan smiled at Shen Weiwei and said, “Alright. Let’s go with your plan—seventeen thousand a year. For sixty years straight. Just don’t die too soon, okay?”
“Okay!” Shen Weiwei’s eyes lit up with joy. She nodded quickly. “Thank you.”
Fang Ming clenched his fists.
Now that Su Mingxuan had tied himself to Shen Weiwei, things were going to get messy. And as a reborn man, Fang Ming knew all too well how skilled Su Mingxuan was when it came to dealing with women.
Shen Weiwei shouldn’t get involved with him.
But for now, Fang Ming could only grit his teeth and bide his time.
After everything was settled, Su Mingxuan had one of his bodyguards call a towing service to take his car away. It’d need to be shipped overseas for repairs, but he didn’t care much—this was just one car. He had a whole collection of this level back at the estate.
Once everything was arranged, Su Mingxuan made his way toward the business-class SUV his bodyguards had driven. But before getting in, he looked back and called out, “Need a ride? I’ll drop you off.”
“Um… I’m headed to work,” Shen Weiwei said bashfully.
Su Mingxuan had already arranged for her car to be towed too—after that kind of impact, there was no driving it. Without a car, she really had no way to get back to the hospital.
She hadn’t even said anything yet, but Su Mingxuan had already anticipated her problem.
“Come on, I’ll give you a lift,” he said as he got into the car.
“Okay…” Shen Weiwei walked over hesitantly, clearly a little embarrassed.
Seeing her climb into Su Mingxuan’s car, Fang Ming grew anxious. He quickly said, “Weiwei, let me drive you instead. We haven’t caught up in so long. I even got in touch with a few of our old classmates—”
“No, it’s fine.” Shen Weiwei smiled politely. “You’ve helped enough already.”
She didn’t want to owe anyone else a favor. One was enough. Favors were hard to repay. Having been in the workforce for a few years now, Shen Weiwei understood this all too well.
Fang Ming stood there, stunned, as she got into Su Mingxuan’s car.
Once she was in… she might not come back out.
He clenched his fists.
Shen Weiwei was his. No one was going to take her from him. Not even Su Mingxuan!
