Chapter 43 - Su Xiaomeng Takes Action!
Chapter 043: Su Xiaomeng Takes Action!
The next day, Su Mingxuan woke up with a sense of smug satisfaction. That walking disaster Bai Suxin had been nothing but trouble ever since she appeared, constantly giving him headaches.
Su Mingxuan had been holding in his frustration for days. But yesterday… he finally let it all out. Now his whole body felt light and refreshed—so satisfying that words couldn’t do it justice.
With that thought in mind, he sat up in bed.
“Huh?”
He suddenly noticed that the qi in his body seemed to have become more refined. What was going on?
Previously, his qi had been powerful but unrefined—like raw iron. But now it felt more like forged steel, the difference between the two worlds apart. Could it be… because of Miss Bai?
Su Mingxuan glanced at her sleeping next to him. She looked normal. She was just an ordinary person, with no qi of her own. It couldn’t be that he had absorbed hers.
Unable to figure it out, Su Mingxuan dropped the thought. Miss Bai really had it rough yesterday. She even cried from being bullied…
Su Mingxuan didn’t want to wake her, so after quietly getting dressed, he headed toward the door.
Just then, the doorknob began to rattle. “Brother Mingxuan-~~” came Su Xiaomeng’s voice from outside, making his head throb instantly.
Crap—why is Xiaomeng here? What should he do? Bai Suxin was still in the room! If Xiaomeng found out, she’d flip out!
“Brother Mingxuan, are you up? Sister Bai is missing~~ Did she run away? Boohoo~~ Brother Mingxuan, open the door!” she shouted anxiously.
Su Mingxuan wiped cold sweat from his forehead. Thank goodness he’d locked the door last night. Some things just don’t need explaining. But what now? This was a disaster.
He tried stalling. “Uh, Xiaomeng~~ hold on, I’m putting on clothes,” he called out.
As he turned to figure out how to deal with the situation, he saw that Bai Suxin had also woken up, sitting on the bed with an awkward look. “W-what do we do?” she whispered, blushing. She had no regrets about what happened, but she didn’t want Xiaomeng to know.
She was still a woman, after all—her face wasn’t that thick. Plus, she could see how much Xiaomeng relied on her brother. If the girl found out…
“We’ll hide you for now,” Su Mingxuan said, feeling helpless. “Wait until she leaves, then come out.”
“Okay,” she nodded quickly, pulling a nightgown over herself and moving to hide.
“Not the bathroom!” Su Mingxuan whispered, stopping her.
If Xiaomeng wandered in there later, they’d both be doomed. He pointed to his wardrobe. It was big and full of clothes—perfect for hiding. Bai Suxin understood and, face still red, climbed in and hid behind the coats.
Only then did Su Mingxuan open the door. “Xiaomeng? What are you doing here so early?” he asked with a smile.
“It’s already ten!” she pouted, wrinkling her nose. “Lazy pig Mingxuan-gege, how can you sleep this late? Sister Bai is missing… did she run away because she didn’t want to cause us trouble?”
Su Mingxuan blinked. Nope, she didn’t run—just hid.
“She wouldn’t do that,” he said as he gently rubbed her head. “She really likes you, remember? She probably just woke up early and went for a walk. Why don’t you go downstairs and look for her?”
Trying his best to send her off, but Xiaomeng had no intention of leaving. Instead, she sat right down on his bed.
Ugh.
Su Mingxuan’s heart skipped a beat.
“Brother Mingxuan, Sister Bai is really pitiful. Please don’t be so mean to her anymore, okay? Her dad doesn’t want her, the Heaven Division people all hate her… I really don’t know how she’s made it through,” Xiaomeng said sadly.
Su Mingxuan sighed. This girl… always so kind-hearted. Anyone who treated her well, she’d repay in full.
“Alright, I got it,” he said, giving her cheek a gentle pinch.
He knew his previous attitude toward Bai Suxin hadn’t been the kindest. But after what happened last night, well… he got everything off his chest. A real man shouldn’t hold grudges, right?
Especially when he’s already… done what needed doing.
“Brother Mingxuan, you’re the best,” Xiaomeng beamed.
In the closet, Bai Suxin’s eyes shimmered with emotion. They were strangers not long ago, and yet Su Xiaomeng had helped her again and again. She even brought her home. They only chatted for half an hour in that tiny house, and the girl had already treated her like a big sister.
If fate had destined her a benefactor, Bai Suxin truly believed that Xiaomeng was it. Without her, there’d be no Su Mingxuan’s help. Without her… she never would’ve made it this far.
Xiaomeng lay on the bed for a while, sniffing the lingering scent of her brother. Hm? Something smelled… off. Her sharp eyes quickly noticed a red stain on the sheets.
“Brother M-Mingxuan, why is there blood on your bed? Did you—did you—get hemorrhoids??” she exclaimed with disbelief, pointing directly at the stain.
Bai Suxin: “…”
Su Mingxuan: “!!”
What the hell?! Hemorrhoids?! I—I got hemorrhoids?!
