Me, A Villain! Is It So Wrong To Live off The Heroines?
Chapter 38 - Jinx, Ye Tian, and a Pawn on the Board

Chapter 038: Jinx, Ye Tian, and a Pawn on the Board

Hearing the system’s notification, Su Mingxuan felt utterly frustrated. Child of Fate… Ye Tian? The Return of the War God?

Come on—this was clearly one of those invincible protagonist setups! And this guy had come back just for revenge? Starting off with maximum hatred? Damn…

Now Su Mingxuan finally understood why Bai Suxin was such a walking disaster. Why there hadn’t been a single Child of Fate willing to step in and save her.

Why the system couldn’t even lock onto a Child of Fate when he first met her. Turned out, this jinx had actually offended a Child of Fate!

Originally, he thought maybe she was the Child of Fate’s wife, or fiancée, or ex-girlfriend, or current girlfriend… Something like that.

Maybe she had a daughter, a very obedient little girl, and Su Mingxuan, intrigued by her “married woman” charm, had bullied her… and her daughter. And then, in desperation, the daughter would call her father, and overnight the whole world would tremble!

But who would’ve thought—it wasn’t like that at all. What in the world had this jinx done to make someone so furious? Su Mingxuan knew full well: normally, a woman who starts the story with this much hatred from the protagonist doesn’t end up well.

Usually, she’d get brutalized over and over in the plot, in every sense of the word. And now… the Child of Fate had already sent people to kill her. That had to be one hell of a grudge.

Su Mingxuan stared at Bai Suxin with an odd expression. She could feel his gaze but didn’t dare meet it, just kept her head down with a helpless look.

Forget it… Based on how things were going, if he wanted to steal Ye Tian’s fate, this woman was definitely a key piece. If Ye Tian wanted her dead, then he’d have to be the one to protect her.

Su Mingxuan still didn’t know what kind of combat power an “SSS+ threat” represented, but judging from how all of Su Xiaomeng’s bodyguards had been wiped out, the Wolf Fang Strike Team had to be formidable.

And Ye Tian was their commander—he’d managed to lead them out during the purge, which meant his strength must be terrifying.

Judging by typical story tropes, this guy was probably one of those cheat-level, plot-armored protagonists.

Just thinking about it gave Su Mingxuan a headache. “Whatever. It’s getting late. I’ll take them back for now. You guys handle the rest.” He turned to the armed soldier in front of him with a hint of exasperation.

It had been a long day. Before he knew it, night had fallen.

“Understood, Young Master Su,” the soldier immediately replied with a nod.

Su Mingxuan turned around and took Su Xiaomeng by the hand, heading back toward the car. The bodyguards followed behind him in an orderly line.

“You still standing there? Want me to have them drag you back?” he snapped when he saw Bai Suxin hadn’t moved.

“…Sorry,” she mumbled, lowering her head and trailing behind with no choice.

Seeing how harsh he was being, Su Xiaomeng quickly said, “Brother Mingxuan, don’t be mean to Sister Bai. I believe she’s not a bad person.”

Su Mingxuan didn’t answer.

Not a bad person? She was literally accused of treason. It was already a miracle that the soldiers hadn’t executed her on the spot.

Of course, he didn’t fully believe that either. He still thought there was some massive secret behind Bai Suxin. He just had to dig deep enough to find it.

With that thought, Su Mingxuan climbed into the passenger seat, while Bai Suxin and Su Xiaomeng got into the back. As soon as everyone was seated, the driver started the car and headed for the estate.

Meanwhile, at a mysterious overseas base, a tall, scarred man stood behind a glass wall, staring solemnly out at the ocean. His body was covered in crisscrossing scars, giving him a terrifying appearance. His muscles bulged with explosive power.

Ssshhk—He gripped the steel safety railing tightly and suddenly twisted. With a creak of metal, the solid railing bent into the shape of a twisted rope. The terrifying part? It was solid steel.

“Boss,” a young woman walked up behind him.

She was stunningly beautiful, dressed in a tight black outfit that perfectly outlined her shapely figure. To put it bluntly, she had curves in all the right places and legs that went on for days—the kind that made men instantly go “Emmm…”

The man didn’t turn around. He already knew who it was.

“Viper sent a message,” the woman said. “He didn’t manage to meet up with Die Luo and the others. The enemy special forces arrived early. Die Luo’s group… they didn’t make it.” Her voice trembled slightly with sorrow and she didn’t continue.

The man’s grip tightened again.

Clang!

The steel bar snapped clean in his hand.

Veins bulged across his hand, glowing faintly red. He closed his eyes. After a long while, he finally opened his mouth. “Special forces don’t move that fast. Die Luo had plenty of time to escape. I called her while they were still in combat. Who was it… that struck?”

He was commanding from abroad and wasn’t at the scene himself. Plus, since they’d been branded as terrorists, he couldn’t get real-time intel like others could.

The woman shook her head. “With the special forces present, Viper’s group couldn’t get too close. But from the photos they managed to take afterward, it looks like it was the Su family’s heir.”

As she spoke, she handed him a photo—one showing Su Mingxuan meeting with the armed soldiers. Due to the distance, the image was blurry, and only silhouettes were visible.

But the man’s eyes immediately locked onto the woman beside Su Mingxuan.

“Bai Suxin!!” he growled, a vicious gleam flashing through his eyes as a murderous aura erupted from his body. The woman beside him instinctively took several steps back, fear flashing across her face.

Then, as quickly as it came, the pressure disappeared. The man composed himself, expression returning to calm.

“The Su family…” he muttered bitterly. “Our Wolf Fang Squad risked everything for them. We went through fire and hell, cut through every thorn, and in the end… they turned their backs on us. In the end, we were nothing but pawns.”

The woman said nothing.

As someone from Wolf Fang herself, she could understand all too well—that feeling of betrayal, of abandonment. That despair when the people you protected toss you aside like garbage.

The Su family… is the sky. But the heavens… are merciless.
