Chapter 349: Chapter 220: None of Us are Brother Cheng’s Mandatory Choices
At half past eleven in the noon, Liu Zhiya came to Yandong Garden after her class.
As soon as she arrived at the doorstep, she saw Wang Mei setting various home-cooked dishes on the table.
Knock knock.
Turning around, Wang Mei thought she was seeing things.
Miss Liu, who was clearly just sitting in a wheelchair a moment ago, suddenly stood up and appeared right before her eyes.
"Hello, my sister asked me to come here."
Only then did Wang Mei recover, "Miss Liu, right? Please come in!"
She greeted with a smile, "Your sister and the two Mr. Chens have gone out for a walk, they should be back soon."
Liu Zhiya went in and looked at the fruit platter on the coffee table, and the delicious looking dishes on the dining table, feeling secretly amazed.
In her view, Chen Cheng’s meticulous care for Liu Zhiying was evident.
He not only arranged a place for her to stay but also specifically hired a nanny to take care of the daily life.
"Could it be that Brother Cheng truly favors my sister over me?"
She felt a tinge of jealousy but was also somewhat happy.
Sitting on the sofa, she cautiously looked around.
At that moment, Wang Mei came over with a cup of water, smiling as she offered, "Miss Liu, have a drink first. Have you eaten?"
Liu Zhiya quickly stood up to receive the water, "Not yet."
"Then I’ll go fry a couple more dishes."
Saying this, Wang Mei went back into the kitchen.
"Lao Chen, are you serious? You really saw Cui Jian in this yard?"
The voices of Chen Cheng and Chen Jin conversing came from the doorway; Liu Zhiya, who hadn’t sat down, stood up again.
"Do you think I’d joke about this? He wasn’t even famous back then."
"Xiao Ya, you’ve come?" Liu Zhiying, smiling.
Only then did Chen Cheng notice Liu Zhiya standing inside.
"Brother Cheng, sis," Liu Zhiya greeted, "Mr. Chen."
Chen Jin politely chuckled, "Miss Liu."
Chen Cheng approached Liu Zhiya, "Why are you here? Why didn’t you call me? I would’ve arranged someone to pick you up."
Liu Zhiya felt an oppressive sort of care, a unique way they interacted.
"Sis said you found a place for her to settle down, asked me to come and recognize it," Liu Zhiya replied softly.
Out of habit, Chen Cheng ruffled her hair.
Liu Zhiying saw this, instinctively avoiding his gaze for a moment, but quickly returning it to Chen Cheng.
Chen Jin looked at his own "gift" to Chen Cheng, especially the interaction between Chen Cheng and Liu Zhiya, realizing that this formidable Mr. Chen had it all figured out.
"Aunt Wang, can we start the meal?" Chen Jin called into the kitchen direction.
Wang Mei, holding a ladle, peeped halfway out, "Yes, Mr. Chen. I’ll just add two more dishes."
Hearing this, Chen Jin invited everyone to the table, "Mr. Chen, come taste Aunt Wang’s cooking."
The dishes on the table were all light, presumably because Wang Mei took into consideration that Liu Zhiying was just out of the hospital; the spiciest dish was probably the chili oil tripes.
Both Liu sisters used to eat in the school cafeteria, and only after following Chen Cheng did Liu Zhiya feel willing to spend money on some previously unaffordable treats.
And seeing the full table of home-cooked dishes, both of their eyes widened.
Going out to study, what they missed the most was the home-cooked meals by their mom.
Although these dishes looked very ordinary, they indeed gave them such an illusion.
"Come on, let’s eat," Chen Jin prompted.
Liu Zhiya first served Chen Cheng a bowl of chicken soup and then picked a chicken leg for Liu Zhiying.
"Sis, have this."
Liu Zhiying, smiling back, replied, "You eat it. I’ve gained quite a lot of weight recently."
"You need to eat more to recover," Liu Zhiya said.
"Exactly, Xiao Ying, now it’s time for you to nourish yourself, don’t worry about getting fat, being a bit chubbier is good," Chen Cheng also said with a smile.
Liu Zhiying, unable to refute them, obediently began eating the chicken leg.
"Mr. Chen, your days are envied by many," Chen Jin joked.
Chen Cheng chuckled, "Isn’t this also thanks to your help, Lao Chen?"
"Hahaha..."
...
...
A simple meal ushered in a new life for the Liu sisters.
The two Chens chatted for a bit more after the meal, and Chen Cheng glanced at the time, "Alright, I need to head back to Wanbao Hall."
Chen Jin nodded, "Okay, next time we’ll talk more about Cui Jian."
As Chen Cheng was about to leave, Liu Zhiying asked, "Brother Cheng, are you leaving?"
Chen Cheng: "I have a meeting scheduled this afternoon. I’ll visit you another day."
"Oh."
A hint of disappointment flashed in Liu Zhiying’s eyes, "Then take care on your way."
Seeing her sister’s mood, Liu Zhiya comforted, "Brother Cheng has a lot on his plate. I’ll keep you company!~"
She thought Chen Cheng was rushing back to see Xiao Meier.
"Xiao Ya, come over often over the next few days, and buy whatever you need," Chen Cheng instructed.
"Yeah, Brother Cheng, don’t worry," Liu Zhiya stood up, "I’ll see you out."
Chen Cheng and Chen Jin left together, and after sending Chen Cheng off, Liu Zhiya returned inside.
Wang Mei, having nearly finished cleaning up, asked, "Miss Liu, is there anything else I can do for you here?"
Liu Zhiying shook her head, "No more tasks for today; you’ve hard a hard day, Aunt Wang."
"Aunt Wang, your cooking is really good! Even better than the chefs in our school cafeteria!" Liu Zhiya sincerely said.
"I’m glad you sisters like it."
Wang Mei happily said, "Then I’ll head off, just call if you need anything."
"Alright, goodbye, Aunt Wang," Liu Zhiying and Liu Zhiya said together.
After Wang Mei left, Liu Zhiying said to Liu Zhiya:
"Xiao Ya, can you help me get the wheelchair over here? I’d like to go outside for a bit."
"Sure."
Liu Zhiya fetched the wheelchair from the room and assisted Liu Zhiying to sit down.
