Chapter 688: Chapter 688: Wei Family

Qing Yue’s statement was so direct that Mr. Wei was taken aback for a moment.

Xia Xin glanced at Qing Yue, his brow furrowed, not quite understanding what Qing Yue meant.

Are people from Shiyan’s side all this strange?

Admirers too...

He wondered if Mr. Fu would beat him up if he heard this.

"Oh... so you’re friends, then? Well, if you’re a friend of the Abbot, you are my friend, too. Let’s all go up and take a seat," Mr. Wei, a shrewd businessman accustomed to the cutthroat world of commerce, and adept at speaking to people on their terms, immediately smoothed over the atmosphere upon detecting its subtleties.

Qing Yue, with keen interest, responded, "Sure, I’ll impose then."

Mr. Wei quickly waved his hands, insisting it wouldn’t be an imposition at all.

Fortunately, the elevator was fairly quick in its ascent.

The group soon arrived on the floor where Mr. Wei’s apartment was located, which broke the awkward silence in the elevator.

Mr. Wei invited Jiangli and the others out of the elevator, pointing to the door, "Here we are, this is my place. What do you think, Abbot?"

Jiangli answered, "Judging from the overall exterior, there’s no issue."

Mr. Wei sighed in partial relief, "Then please, Abbot, go in and have a look. Honestly, I know that there probably isn’t anything wrong with the house, but... having just gone through that incident, I am really scared. I can only ask the Abbot to take a closer look and provide guidance. Only when the Abbot says it’s fine can I be at ease."

Jiangli nodded, "I understand."

Mr. Wei, not afraid to spend money, just wanted peace of mind. He used his fingerprint to unlock the door, pushed it open, and led Jiangli and the others inside while calling out loudly, "The Abbot is here, Jinghong, come out quickly."

"The Abbot is here already? So soon?"

No sooner had Mr. Wei’s words fallen than two women came from the direction of the living room.

The two women were of similar ages.

One of them was Mrs. Wei.

The other woman, slightly younger by a year or two, was exceedingly beautiful, not appearing to be ordinary in any way. So refined that every strand of her hair seemed to be narrating beauty.

Jiangli glanced at the two women, and his gaze was immediately drawn to the beautiful one.

Mr. Wei brought them a little closer.

Mrs. Wei said happily, "Abbot, we have been eagerly awaiting your visit."

Jiangli nodded slightly, "I was free today, so I came to have a look."

"I forgot to introduce you to the Abbot," Mr. Wei said, pointing to the attractive woman beside him, "This is my sister, Wei Qingran. She heard about the troubles in our family and came over to check on us, and has been staying with us for the past few days."

Jiangli nodded to her, "Jiangli."

"Hello, I am Wei Qingran. I’ve heard my brother mention you before. You are the Abbot of Jiaoyang Temple, and you saved his family. I truly can’t thank you enough," Wei Qingran said with a genteel smile, showing eight perfectly aligned teeth as if her smile too had been trained to perfection.

Jiangli’s gaze swept from the corner of her eye to her eyebrows, "You are too polite; I simply took money to do a job."

Mr. Wei said, "The Abbot is being too modest; it is a fact that you saved us. Without your guidance, how could we have known that there was something wrong with those Tiger Head Shoes? To be candid, every time I think about those Tiger Head Shoes now, I get chills down my spine."

Jiangli replied, "Those Tiger Head Shoes are now in my possession; you need not worry."

"Exactly, with the object in the Abbot’s hands, I naturally have no concerns," Mr. Wei concurred with a smile, then turned to Mrs. Wei, "Jinghong, call the children out so the Abbot can take a look at them."

Mrs. Wei agreed and hurried into the bedroom.
