Zhu Ming forced a smile, at a loss for words, and could only sit down uncomfortably to the side.

"Zhu Ming’s nature is rather blunt, and while he might not be a paragon of virtue, he’s not an evildoer either. Abbot, even though you saved him for the money, it is still a great kindness, and it’s only proper for Zhu Ming to come and say thanks," Uncle Pei Jiu said, glancing at Zhu Ming and smoothing over the awkwardness.

Jiangli held her teacup with a faint smile, "Then, what brings Director Pei here? I assume Director Pei isn’t here to thank me, right?"

Uncle Pei Jiu had his own motives for this visit.

He appeared sincere and extended considerable goodwill, as if he was earnestly inviting Jiangli to join the Unusual Affairs Management.
