Chapter 639: Chapter 639: The Ancestor Takes Action Personally
Xia Xin and Fu’er exchanged glances, their faces tightening simultaneously.
One did not believe in himself.
The other did not believe in the other.
Xia Xin had never made clothes before and had no idea where to start.
He said with a headache, "Ancestor, I really can’t... I’ve never done this. Perhaps, Ancestor, could you make a pattern for me?"
Jiangli clicked her tongue, "Are you that stupid?"
Xia Xin forced a smile, "Yes yes yes, I’m stupid. Ancestor, please teach me, and I will learn well, okay?"
Jiangli frowned impatiently but still got up from the recliner, finished her tea in one gulp, and muttered, "So annoying."
Still huffing, she walked over and picked up the scissors Xia Xin had prepared.
Seeing this, Xia Xin and Fu’er both let out a sigh of relief.
"Xia Xin, you better watch closely. I’ll only teach you once. Afterwards, you’ll have to do it yourself," Jiangli warned as she took the scissors.
Xia Xin concentrated, "I understand! Rest assured, Ancestor, I will learn well!"
Jiangli stopped talking and pulled out the white paper. The scissors in her hand came alive; knowing exactly where to start, where to turn, and what size to cut.
It was as if she knew it all along, not needing the measurements Xia Xin had taken down.
Xia Xin realized that from the time he started taking measurements, Jiangli had intended for him to make it himself.
If Xia Xin hadn’t been completely clueless about where to start, he would have been the one holding the scissors now.
But at this moment, Xia Xin dared not relax, and watched very carefully, taking up paper and pen to start making notes.
Jiangli worked swiftly, and within ten minutes, a human silhouette appeared before Xia Xin.
Xia Xin was taken aback, "Ancestor, isn’t this a paper man?"
Jiangli had used the 520 glue brought by Xia Xin to stick the pieces of paper together, indeed forming a paper man.
However, it lacked a bamboo framework for support and was somewhat floppy.
Upon hearing his words, Jiangli reached for some grey paper and began to cut once more, "He’s a ghost. We need to make a shell for him to inhabit before we can make clothes."
Xia Xin suddenly understood and wrote down this sentence as well.
Fu’er had seen Jiangli make paper men before.
Thinking back carefully, Jiangli would immerse herself in making paper men in her room for two days every year.
She would make quite a number at a time.
Perhaps that’s how the Ancestor had honed her skills.
Under the watchful eyes of Xia Xin and Fu’er, Jiangli quickly cut out some paper pieces.
After using glue to assemble them, they became clothing.
Immediately after, Jiangli stuffed the paper man into the clothes, straightening out the edges and corners.
Jiangli looked towards Fu’er and let out a relieved sigh, "Alright, you can go in and try it."
Fu’er nodded eagerly, his head bobbing like a pounding garlic, and with a flicker, he whooshed into the paper man.
The next second, Xia Xin saw the originally shriveled and floppy paper man inflate as if being filled with air.
In an instant, it seemed as if it had gained a skeleton.
But from the outside, it still looked like a paper man, with no significant difference.
Xia Xin was momentarily confused.
But Jiangli reached out her hand, "Pen, vermilion."
Upon hearing this, Xia Xin was jolted into action. He hurriedly put down the measuring tape and pulled out a piece of paper and a pen from the drawer next to him, handing them to Jiangli, "Ancestor, here."
Jiangli took the paper and pen, dipped it into the vermilion, and then unbuttoned the outer garment. She proceeded to draw a talisman on the heart and the back of the head of the paper man.
Before Xia Xin could get a clear look at what talismans they were, Jiangli’s pen tip twirled and landed on the face of the paper man, adding features to it.
Lastly, she made a dot where the eyes would be.
As soon as the pen tip lifted, the paper man began to change.
A faint glow seemed to sweep over it.
As the glow passed, the paper man slowly turned into a real person.
