Chapter 458: Chapter 458: The Manipulated Life
Lin Yaozu gradually understood the meaning of Lin Yurong’s words.
To their parents, those three characters "Lin Yaozu" merely represented a symbol for continuing the family line.
It didn’t matter whether it was him or not.
"You and I are alike, both of us have been manipulated by them," Lin Yurong said as she looked at Lin Yaozu. "Now I’ve broken free from them, and you have too. I hope you’ll be well in the future."
Lin Yaozu’s eyes hurt as he gripped the packet of candy so tightly it was nearly crushed.
Yet Lin Yurong’s expression was the most relaxed it had ever been. She consoled Lin Yaozu for a few moments before saying, "I don’t have much time left. I have to say goodbye to you now."
Lin Yaozu paused for a second, then cried even harder.
But Lin Yurong couldn’t do anything more, nor did she offer any further comfort.
She sighed and, with a slight bow to Jiangli, asked, "Abbot, can we leave now?"
"Of course."
Jiangli noticed that Lin Yurong had truly let go of all her attachments.
She was unfortunate, but Lin Yaozu, with such parents, was also unfortunate.
She was too tired to blame anyone anymore.
Jiangli didn’t say much else. After bidding farewell to Xun Tianhai with a brief word, he didn’t even glance at Lin Yaozu before leading Lin Yurong away.
Fu Shiyan and Xia Xin nodded slightly to Xun Tianhai as a greeting, then followed along.
"Sister—"
Lin Yaozu took a step forward instinctively.
Xun Tianhai stopped him and said in a low voice, "Don’t add to your sister’s burdens. What matters most for her right now is to let go of all attachments to be reincarnated. If you still care about her as your sister, then do nothing right now."
Lin Yaozu bit down hard on his teeth, his eyes red and swollen, watching as Lin Yurong followed Jiangli without turning back to leave.
Lin Yaozu’s face turned red from crying.
...
Perhaps in this world, coincidences are a common thing.
As Jiangli, Fu Shiyan, Lin Yurong, and Xia Xin just came out of the elevator and were about to leave the police station lobby.
They saw a group of police officers escorting two people inside.
"Let me go! What right do you have to arrest me, what did I do?"
"I did nothing wrong, I haven’t done anything, this has nothing to do with me, why are you arresting us?"
It was a middle-aged couple, flanked by police officers on either side, still struggling violently and shouting with red faces.
The police ignored them and continued on their way inside.
Lin Yurong stopped when she saw them.
Jiangli glanced at her, then at the faces of the couple, and instantly understood their identity.
They were probably Lin Yurong’s fugitive parents.
What if they had run away?
In today’s society, they were quickly caught by the police station.
Upon entering the police station, a peak of unease rose in the hearts of Lin’s parents as they continued to scream and struggle, trying to escape.
But it was all in vain.
The group stood there, watching the police lead them past.
Lin Yurong stood calmly in place, her gaze toward them was like looking at strangers.
She had thought that she would lose her mind upon seeing her parents, but in fact, she felt calmer than she had ever imagined.
All is returned to dust, and everyone has received their due punishment.
Their parents had given her life, and now, it was as if she had returned it.
"Abbot, let’s go back," she said calmly, without a ripple of emotion.
Jiangli nodded, "Let’s go."
The group took their steps, brushing past Lin’s parents.
Just as they were leaving, Lin’s parents felt an odd sensation, like a cold breeze blowing past them.
Both were taken aback and looked back subconsciously, but didn’t see anyone they recognized.
