Chapter 290: Chapter 290: The Rampage of the Ancestor
Daoist Changmin by now was unable to move both of his legs, rendered completely immobile; he could only passively allow Xia Xin to drag him forward.
With Xia Xin dragging such a person, their speed of movement slowed significantly.
In almost the blink of an eye, Jiangli had already reached the front gates of Qingyun Temple.
Xia Xin, anxious like a cat on a hot tin roof, forcefully dragged Daoist Changmin, accelerating their pace.
Today was neither the first nor the fifteenth day of the lunar month, yet Qingyun Temple still had quite a few pilgrims; evidently, Qingyun Temple usually enjoyed prosperous incense offerings.
Jiangli took a glance, observing the bustling crowd within Qingyun Temple, and thought of Jiaoyang Temple.
A wave of frustration washed over her, as if hating that iron could not become steel.
What sort of place was Qingyun Temple, able to cultivate Xuanmen Disciples like Daoist Changmin? It was clear it wasn’t anywhere commendable.
Yet such a place was now overshadowing the reputation of Jiaoyang Temple.
Jiangli truly couldn’t understand it.
She walked straight in from the entrance, striding into the temple with confidence.
Xia Xin, worried, feared that Jiangli might encounter trouble and struggled to follow, dragging Daoist Changmin laboriously.
Their appearance was exceedingly conspicuous among the crowd.
Practically the moment they entered Qingyun Temple, the gazes of the junior Taoists who received guests zeroed in on them.
When they caught sight of Daoist Changmin, who Xia Xin was bringing in and who appeared half dead, the junior Taoists’ complexions instantly shifted, and several approached them swiftly.
"Daoist Brother Changmin—"
A few junior Taoists came forward, calling out with evident concern.
It seemed that Daoist Changmin was quite popular in Qingyun Temple ordinarily.
"Daoist Brother Changmin, how did you end up like this? What happened?" one of them asked anxiously.
Daoist Changmin had been dragged along the way, nearly fainting from the pain; upon hearing them, he struggled to move his eyelids, attempting to speak, but he couldn’t make a sound.
Seeing this, the junior Taoists became even more worried.
They immediately turned their gazes to Jiangli and Xia Xin.
"May I ask who you two are and why you are with Daoist Brother Changmin?"
"Do you know what has happened to Daoist Brother Changmin? Has there been some kind of accident?"
The group crowded around Jiangli and Xia Xin, questioning them nonstop.
Jiangli glanced at them and said directly, "Where is the Abbot of your Qingyun Temple?"
The junior Taoists were taken aback.
Then, thinking something major had happened, they assumed it was necessary to alarm the Abbot.
Someone replied, "The Abbot is in the main hall, are you looking for the Abbot? Has something big occurred?"
Without responding to the question, Jiangli headed straight for the main hall.
The junior Taoists were even more bewildered, looking at one another in confusion, with no one understanding what was going on.
"Young lady, why do you need to see our Abbot?"
"Can you at least tell us what has happened?"
"Our Abbot is currently entertaining important guests; you cannot just barge in like this!"
Several junior Taoists quickly caught up, attempting to block Jiangli’s path.
Jiangli told them indifferently, "Indeed, there is a matter that requires the Abbot’s attention. You can’t handle this, so for your own good, I advise you not to get involved."
Hearing her presumptuous tone, the junior Taoists’ expressions darkened, and it was faintly apparent that the young lady before them might spell trouble.
Their eyes became cautious, intuitively forming a line to block Jiangli and Xia Xin.
A slightly older one stepped forward and said, "We at Qingyun Temple are grateful for you returning our Daoist Brother Changmin to us. Now if you would just hand Daoist Brother Changmin over to me, that would be appreciated."
As he said this, he reached out to take Daoist Changmin from Xia Xin’s grip, hoping to prevent any mishap.
However...
Before his hand could touch Daoist Changmin, a delicate and fair hand suddenly reached out from the side, firmly grabbing his wrist.
The man was startled, his lips pressed tightly together as he exerted strength in his hand, trying to break free.
