Chapter 59: Angel

"He didn’t trouble you, did he?" she asked as she let out smoke from her mouth. She then glanced at Oliver, who was flabbergasted. "Wassup, Olie."

"Nope." Xavier responded as he shot a glance at the cyborg. "He didn’t."

"Hey... Angel..." Oliver greeted her.

"Sorry for not being present when you came in. I was actually going to fetch you guys from downstairs, but I had to run to the washroom. I hope you didn’t mind it."

Unlike her appearance, her way of speaking was calm and gentle.

"Is he your bodyguard or something?"

"Oh, no. He is my friend, Jason. I know the name doesn’t suit him, but he is cool. He just returned from a gig and ran into me here. I told him I was here for a meeting and he insisted on joining. Don’t mind him, please." She rubbed the cig on the table and put it in the ashtray.

Then, she opened the bottle of the juice and poured it into the glass.

"If you want him to go away, then he will leave," she added.

"Nah, he is good. If you trust him, then I trust him, too." Xavier grabbed the bottle of juice and instead of pouring it into the glass, he drank it directly.

"So, what was the big thing you talked about?" She asked curiously.

"Before we get to that, let me pay up the debts I owe you."

"You know, I am not short on money or anything." She took a slice of fruit and glanced at Xavier. "I am not saying I don’t want your money, but keep it to yourself. You are new in this city and you may need it. I will ask for my payment when I feel like it."

"As you say," Xavier shrugged.

’I can’t use my daily transaction to pay her since it would be counted as a repeated transaction. I already paid her $10,000, and my current limit is also $10,000. I owe her around $150,000, so even if the limit is upgraded, I won’t be able to use it. Well, I can pay her using the $10 million I have.’

"I want you to make me a report of a test."

"Is this repeated to the girl we talked about before? The one who killed herself?"

"Yes."

"Xavier, I know I said I like challenges, but hacking into the world’s database is not something I can do. In fact, no one on this planet can pull that up. It’s not even about the risk, it’s about the sheer amount of resources and time one would need. It’s not worth it."

"I am not asking you to hack into something. I just want you to create a report that looks similar to the real one. I need it to stall for some time. My initial plan was to start my plan right after I get out of the prison, but now some things have changed and I have something more important to do."

"More important than your revenge?" Angel’s curiosity piqued. "Now that sounds interesting."

"That’s when my second request comes. I think it will be easier than I imagined since you seem to be a well known member of this club."

"Could it be that you need a membership? Sure, I can refer you two for one, but know that it’s not under me if you are selected or not. I will keep referring, though."

"No." Xavier shook his head. "Although that sounds good, what I want is... information about the black market. There is something I need to retrieve from there."

Angel sat there like the world didn’t exist—chin propped on both hands, eyes glowing like data streams trapped in flesh. Her stare wasn’t blank, just distant. Like she already knew what came next and was bored waiting.

"Xavier, are you sure about that? It’s a risky place."

"Yes, I have to go there. I searched about it on the internet but there is no information about it. Which is why I contacted you. And by the way, my request doesn’t end there. Once we retrieve that thing I am looking for, you will have to decrypt it."

"Oh! Now we are talking! Okay! I will give you everything I know about the black market, but promise me that you will go alone. Oliver shouldn’t be near that place."

Xavier glanced at Oliver, seemingly waiting for his reaction.

"Don’t worry about me. If Angel says it’s dangerous for me, then it’s dangerous for me."

"To be honest, it will be dangerous for Xavier too. You aren’t very knowledgeable about how things work there. I want to come with you, but you will probably get in more trouble because of me." Angel pondered with a troubled look on her face.

"I will go with him." Jason stepped forward. "I will protect him."

"It’s great that you want to help him, but that’s a no go, Jason. You and I, we both are already known in the black market, so if anyone sees Xavier with you or me, he would be roped into a lot of mess."

"That’s okay." Xavier slammed the bottle on the table, as a seal of deal closure. "I like to get into a mess. It’s fun. And it’s more fun to solve the mess."

Angel and Jason stared at each other.

"And then create a bigger mess out of it," Xavier added shortly with a grin on his face.

"Well, if you are okay with it, then who am I to stop you. You are mature enough to make your own decisions." Angel nodded.

"Then I will go—" Oliver was about to join, but Angel shut him off.

"No, you won’t."

"Okay..." Oliver began sulking as his shoulders drooped and cheeks puffed.

’She is like an older sister to Oliver. I am curious to know how these two got involved with each other since they are totally opposite.’

"Xavier, are you ready? I will take you to the black market."

"Yeah. Let’s fucking go!"
