Chapter 54: Fragments of the Goddess

Xavier grabbed his pants and covered his crotch before sitting in front of the Goddess.

"I am so confused right now. Why did I have to... do that?" Xavier asked.

[Could you turn that off first?]

The video on his phone was still playing and his earphones were blasting with moans

"Huh? Oh! Yes." He paused the video and turned off the phone.

[DNA— as humans call it— is the origin of life. It exists everywhere. It contains immense valuable data and energy. Your blood would have worked to summon me, but one drop of your semen is equal to 10 drops of your blood. And I needed at least 10 drops worth of semen of energy. I couldn’t ask you to use your blood, it’s too important.]

"I see..."

Xavier had talked with the goddess everyday, but it was his first time seeing her and talking with her face to face.

[So what you have told me; It wasn’t me, but my fragment. I had nothing to do with it.]

"Are you two not the same?" he asked with a hint of curiosity in his voice.

[Yes, and no. My fragments are spread across the universe, and it has been thousands of thousands of years. I don’t even remember. Your ancestors were able to gather as many fragments as possible for hundreds of millennia. When they came to earth to find a fragment, they decided to stay here.

Strangely, my other fragments seem to have gained their own consciousness. I am not in contact with them, nor do I know where they are. I am as clueless as you are. But once they are brought to me, I will be able to merge my consciousness and it will become a part of me.]

"And you want me to find them for you?" He raised a brow.

[Yes. I am incomplete and I need all my fragments so I can exist once again.]

Xavier thought for a while, and then asked, "So that’s the reason you gave me the unlimited money system. You want me to somehow utilize it and gather all your fragments."

[No, this power belongs to you. I simply activated it. Even if you don’t want to gather my fragment, I won’t do anything to you. But I will be a little sad since I will have to wait for another thousand years for your reincarnation.]

"Wait, what?!" Xavier exclaimed.

[You are a God, Xavier. Or at least, you are destined to be. And every 1000 years, a god is born. And every ten thousand years, a new cycle is created, where the gods fight with another to take their spot. Cosmos is filled with unlimited energy and the energy sometimes gathers and creates a new god.]

"And who are you?"

[I was once a goddess who was exiled because I revolted against the other gods and goddesses. But since we can’t die, we turn into energy. We are technically immortal. Sometimes, our consciousness fades away, while other times, it grows and evolves into something far greater and stronger than before.

My fragments seem to have developed consciousness, there is an obvious cosmic imbalance. And they will become individual gods at some point. But since all the fragments have a goal of gathering the other fragments to grow strong, they will seek each other.

We were lucky that we encountered Bull, who wasn’t corrupted. But if my other fragments are found and the host turns out to be someone with evil intentions, they will seek to become a god. They will have prophecies and learn about the other fragments and their hosts.

However, you must always remember that it is not me. I have always been honest with you, so I ask you to trust me in return. You are born to be a god with a perfect body, but others can become one, too. Your body is a clean and pure vessel, and it will gain power as you get stronger.]

Xavier listened to the goddess attentively and processed everything.

"Are you saying that I might become strong if I find the other fragments?" he asked with a curious look on his face.

[If the fragment has gained consciousness and found a host, then once you kill that host and absorb the fragment’s consciousness, you will gain the power the host had. But it will be given to you according to the host’s condition.

"What if the host is kind and someone I shouldn’t kill?"

[The host will have the power of the fragment, so unless the host willingly submits their powers, we can’t obtain the power of the said fragment. Killing them is not the only option we have. Conveniently, if you kill a prophet of other gods, you will get their powers too.]

"Hmm~" Xavier hummed in amusement. "So I can become infinitely strong as long as there is someone stronger than me."

[Correct!]

"I see." Xavier nodded and pondered for a while. "How many fragments are there?"

[Twenty four. Your ancestors and your previous reincarnations gathered 12 fragments in thousands of thousands of years. Eleven of them are in the village, and the twelfth one is here.]

"And Bull had the thirteenth one. But still..." Xavier looked at the goddess. "If my ancestors took so many years, how can I gather them all by myself in such a short time?"

[As I said, because of the cosmic imbalance, my fragments have gained consciousness, so now it will be easy to find them because the other hosts would be looking for each other, too. I am unsure if we should celebrate or mourn that.]

"If I don’t gather the fragments, the others will find me. And most likely kill me. And... everyone in the village."

[Fortunately, we have the advantage since we have the most number of fragments.]

"But why didn’t you tell me all this before?"

[You weren’t ready. Or rather, your father. He was reluctant to let you go. You were supposed to start your journey at the age of 10, but your father asked me to wait. I am not a heartless demon you think of me as, I am a goddess, and most certainly, your goddess. So please, do not forsake me or yell at me. I am your—]

The goddess suddenly disappeared.

"What happened?!" he asked with a concerned look on his face.

[It seems I ran out of time. I have used up all the power. I won’t be able to respond to you for time being, unless you find the thirteenth fragment. Good luck, Xavier. Remeber, I am always with you.]
