Chapter 52: Lyra

"What if I am not a prophet, but a God, instead?" Xavier’s eyes shined golden for a split second.

"A god?" Cassian’s face lit up in shock and surprise. "I guess, gods can change their destinies?

"Is this all you had to say to me? If so, then I would like to take my leave." Xavier stood up and walked to the door.

"Wait a second." Cassian got up and called out to him. "I want to ask you something."

Xavier stopped and looked back to Cassian instead of turning around.

"What is your plan?" Cassian asked with a serious look on his face.

"My plan?" Xavier raised a brow in confusion. "What do you mean?"

"Lumina... it was something that belonged to you... your ancestors. And now, it’s gone. Do you plan to take revenge?"

Xavier pondered for a while, as though he was gathering his thoughts in words. "Lumina was something that was created for the good of people. Our intention was never to profit from that. So even if it’s gone now, it doesn’t matter to me in the least. I haven’t lost anything."

"..." Cassian was visibly baffled to hear that. He had expected that Xavier must be seeking revenge, but after seeing how unbothered Xavier was by that, he realized that Xavier was a kind boy who—

"I will burn them." Xavier’s words devoured Cassian’s thoughts.

"Huh...?"

"My aim is not this city or this country. I don’t even care about this planet. I have been told I have the universe to conquer, so I will do just that."

After saying that, Xavier left the room.

He went downstairs and found the wolf girl sitting on the couch, playing with a robodog, even imitating it. She was wearing new clothes, although they weren’t the fit size for her.

Xavier glanced around to look for Oliver, but he could see him.

’I wanted to talk to him, but I will do that later. I am not in a good mood right now. Can’t think of anything. I will go home and get a good sleep.’

While Xavier was lost in his thoughts, Oliver came into the scene and waved his hand at Xavier.

"Hey." He approached Xavier and leaned closer to whisper. "What did you talk about with my dad?"

"Nothing. He just wanted to know how I got out of the prison," Xavier responded with a smile. "Anyway, I am leaving now. I will call you later in the evening. I am getting a new phone, also."

"What happened to the old one?" he asked curiously. "Did you buy it a week ago?"

"Yeah. But I got rid of it. I will get a new one on my way home. Also, a new number, so don’t be shocked if you see an unknown number calling you."

Oliver handed the bike key to Xavier and said, "I am really glad you are back."

Xavier left Oliver’s house with the wolf girl, and turned on the bike. The wolf girl sat behind him and gripped his shoulders tightly.

’Her grip is strong!’

Xavier went straight to the supermarket and bought a new phone, the exact same model. He then bought some clothes for the wolf girl, which he thought would suit her.

[Today’s transaction completed.]

After that, they left for the apartment.

The wolf girl looked around the apartment and then rushed to the bathroom door, only to be shocked. She had assumed that the door led to another room, but it didn’t.

’Whoa! Look at her so shocked!’ Xavier couldn’t help but chuckle a little after seeing the wolf girl’s reaction. ’Although she hadn’t said a word to me, her reactions are quite expressive. She used to talk to me so often in the prison. We even played some oral games in the cell. It’s understandable that she doesn’t want to talk to me. After all, She has lost someone similar to her father, and now she has to live with the killer. Well, I will give her some time to adjust herself to this new life.’

"Are we here to take something?" The wolf girl finally opened her mouth.

"No. This is home."

"...!" The wolf girl’s ears hardened in shock.

"Don’t worry. We will get a new house in a few days. This one is a little too small."

With that, the wolf girl began ignoring him again.

’Should I at least tell her the truth? I don’t know anything about her. I don’t know her name or age.’ Xavier looked at the wolf girl. ’I should at least know her name.’

"Umm... hey." Xavier didn’t know how to start a conversation. "My name is Xavier. What about you?"

The wolf girl looked at Xavier in disbelief. "I know what your name is. I have heard it many times in the prison and in the nice house we were at."

"Then you should introduce yourself."

The wolf girl glared at Xavier. "We talked so much in the prison, and even played games. Yet, not even once you asked my name."

"..." Xavier was speechless. ’She is right but... at that time I just thought of her as a stranger whom I would forget after two days. I didn’t know I would bring her along with me. Is this why she has been sulking?’ He wondered.

"I am sorry." Xavier apologized sincerely since that was the best way to get out of the situation. "There was a lot on my mind. But yes, I should have at least asked your name."

"Hmph!" She pouted. "My name is Lyra."

"Lyra..." Xavier muttered. "That’s a nice name."

Lyra blushed a little after hearing that.

"You parents have a good sense of..." Xavier stopped halfway when he noticed Lyra’s expression. HIs instincts told him not to continue.

"Bull named me! My family was killed by space pirates and took me as a slave. Bull saved me when I was three years old. He gave me a name, a place to eat and sleep. He was so nice..."

Lyra sniffed as tears rolled down her eyes. She punched Xavier on the chest, but it was just a gentle touch.

"Why..." She looked up at him with teary eyes. "Why did you kill him?"
