Chapter 50: Oliver’s House || Meeting with Cassian Voss

"Hello, Xavier. Nice of you to come here so early in the morning." Cassian Voss greeted Xavier in a rather peculiar way.

’Maybe... I shouldn’t have come here at dawn. But it was urgent so...’

"Hello..." Xavier greeted him.

Oliver and Cassian eagerly glanced at the wolf girl with a confused and curious look on their faces.

"And who is... this?" Cassian asked.

"She is with me."

’Come to think of it, I actually don’t even know her name. Maybe I should have talked with her on the way. But... she is mad at me. I am not even sure what I would do if she tries to kill me,’ Xavier thought to himself.

"Well, come in. Have breakfast."

The Voss mansion stood tall, its sleek black exterior gleaming under the morning sun. Golden accents lined the edges, giving it an air of luxury and power. The entrance was grand, flanked by two towering statues of mythical beasts, their eyes glowing with an eerie blue light. Security drones patrolled the perimeter, their red sensors scanning for any signs of trouble.

Inside the mansion, the walls were a pristine white, adorned with golden trim that shimmered under the soft lighting. The floors were polished marble, reflecting the grandeur of the chandeliers that hung from the ceiling. Futuristic gadgets were seamlessly integrated into the decor, with holographic displays and floating screens adding a touch of modernity.

The dining room was a vision of opulence. A long, golden table stretched across the room, surrounded by chairs upholstered in the finest velvet. The table was set with gleaming silverware and crystal glasses, each place setting meticulously arranged. Robotic maids moved with graceful precision, serving breakfast with mechanical efficiency.

Cassian Voss sat at the head of the table, while Oliver sat to his right, his eyes flicking between Xavier and the wolf girl with a mix of curiosity and confusion. The wolf girl sat beside Xavier, her blue eyes scanning the room with a predatory intensity.

She was still wary and suspicious of Xavier, wondering where he had brought her.

A robotic butler filled Cassian’s cup with steaming coffee, the rich aroma filling the air. "Is there anything specific you want to eat?" Cassian asked, his voice smooth and polite.

Xavier shifted in his seat, a nervous chuckle escaping his lips. "Umm... no." He turned to the wolf girl, who was already digging into the boiled and fried eggs on her plate. "What about you?"

The wolf girl didn’t respond, focusing solely on her food.

’I guess that’s a no,’ Xavier thought, a hint of amusement tugging at his lips.

"So, Xavier." Cassian took a bite with elegance and looked at Xavier. "Eat well, We have something important to talk about."

’What’s going on?’ Xavier was the most confused in the room. ’Could it be that Cassian thinks I am really a criminal, and he doesn’t want me to get involved with Oliver? No, I can’t let that happen. Oliver is my best friend!’

Xavier glanced at Oliver, who seemed equally worried and troubled as Xavier.

They ate the breakfast in silence, except the wolf girl, who was eating with no manners, and filling her stomach with whatever the maids were placing in her plate.

Once breakfast had ended, Cassian Voss got up.

"Xavier, please follow me to my office."

Oliver also got up. "I will come with—"

"Only Xavier." Cassian Voss immediately interrupted Oliver. He then glanced at the wolf girl and uttered, "Also, take that girl to our guest room. Send a maid with her, so she can get cleaned and arrange clothes for her."

After saying that, Cassian Voss left the room.

Xavier followed Cassian Voss after saying, "Hey, Oliver. No matter what happens, you are always my friend."

Oliver called a maid and instructed her what Cassian had told him, and the maid took the wolf girl to the guest room.

Meanwhile, in Cassian’s office.

Xavier glanced around as he sat on the chair in front of Cassian.

The office was different compared to everything in the house. It was old and Victorian, from the room’s architecture to even something irrelevant as a carpet.

"Do you like this room?" Cassian asked with a curious look on his face.

"Yes, it feels... alive."

"Hah!" He chuckled. "My late wife used to say the same thing. She even designed it herself."

’Oh!’ Xavier’s eyes widened. ’Oliver’s mother is dead?! I... I don’t know anything about him...’

"Xavier, how did you get out of the prison?" Cassian inquired with a straight look on his face, showing no emotions. "If Aldric Blackwood holds a grudge against someone, they are finished. He finishes them. Even when I was studying in the academy, Aldric was a professor at that time, and he was... merciless. He doesn’t spare anyone who has angered him. While you... you have done much more than that. Not to mention, Dominic Hart is his close aide. They both have destroyed many powerful people."

"..."

"So, how did you manage to get out of the prison, unharmed?" Cassian asked again, this time with a hint of curiosity on his face.

"I made him do it. I made him kneel for me."

"By that, do you mean you found their weakness?"

"I..." Xavier was about to tell him the truth, but he stopped. Then, he took out his phone and uploaded all the data in the cloud account.

"What are you doing?"

Xavier said in sign language that he wanted to destroy his phone.

Cassian studied Xavier as he stared at him with a thought. Then, he nodded and summoned his android bodyguard.

Xavier handed him the phone and the bodyguard left.

"If you were worried about someone hacking into your phone or spying on you, don’t worry. It’s impossible for anyone to do that."

"I know, but I am a cautious man. I don’t like to take risks. And my father always told me to be cautious all the time, even when you are alone."

"Hmm..." Cassian hummed and nodded. "Your father, Eleazar Astreaus Zenith."

"...!"

"You see, I did some digging on you."
