Chapter 227: The Martial Tournament (3) The Exciting Rewards
"Well fought," Lyan said, offering his opponent a hand up. "You’re a skilled warrior."
The man accepted Lyan’s hand, nodding in gratitude. "And you as well," he replied, a hint of admiration in his voice. "I underestimated you, but I won’t make that mistake again."
With a final nod, the two parted ways, each heading back to their respective corners of the arena to prepare for the next round. As Lyan watched his opponent disappear into the crowd, a sense of satisfaction washed over him—a reminder that true strength lay not just in victory, but in the bonds forged through battle.
(Hm~ That’s quite great~) (Lilith)
A familiar voice- Lilith’s voice chimed in, breaking the silence in Lyan’s mind.
(A manly bond made by a bout in a certain tournament... Ah... That sounds romantic...) (Cynthia)
Cynthia’s voice followed, her nostalgic tone filling Lyan’s thoughts.
Lyan couldn’t help but chuckled at Cynthia’s remark. "Just which part of it is romantic?" he retorted with a wry grin, amused by her perspective. It’s been a while since he heard the perverted panting of Cynthia.
But the banter didn’t stop there.
(Of course it’s romantic, master) (Arturia)
Arturia interjected confidently.
"Hm? Arturia?" (Lyan)
(A battle between two strong warriors is always going to be romantic. The feeling shared within the intense match is much more romantic than having a candlelit dinner) (Arturia)
"I don’t think that’s a good comparison..." Lyan chuckled. "But that’s not surprising coming from you, Arturia..."
Then Hestia’s mischievous voice joined in.
(Fufufufu! To think that you’re attending such an interesting event when we were immersed inside your room. That’s quite rude of you to not report it to us, don’t you think?) (Hestia)
Lyan shrugged playfully. "I believe I have zero obligation to do so, though? And I thought you were just busy playing certain games you found in my house instead," he teased, enjoying the banter with his spiritual companions.
(You’re right. The usual rivals are getting hot over Jenga, Ping pong, dart, and badminton. It’s getting annoying how they are using their magic when they got too riled up) (Lilith)
Lilith remarked.
(Who’s you’re saying the usual rivals, huh?) (Griselda)
Griselda’s rough voice interjected.
(But well. That was quite a great opponent you have there. Even though it’s evident that you’re holding back on the fight, the poor guy doesn’t seem to notice it. If he noticed it, he would definitely have his pride wounded) (Hestia)
Hestia added, her words painting a vivid picture in Lyan’s mind.
(I guess they didn’t miss it) (Lyan)
Lyan smiled inwardly, appreciating the support and commentary from his spiritual companions.
Returning to the preparation area, Lyan found his group waiting for him, their faces a mix of anticipation and excitement.
"How did it go?" Solia asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
Lyan shrugged casually. "It was a good fight. Our opponent was skilled, but nothing couldn’t be handled." His tone is humble enough that people would think that there is only a slight tad of skill between the two of them, but it’s evident for the group as they also witness how the fight unfolded. Lyan is in a complete advantage in the battle that they couldn’t imagine him defeated at the battle.
Wilhelmina smiled, her confidence evident. "That’s what I like to hear. We’ll need that same energy for the next rounds. Learnt anything?"
Lyan nodded. "Yes, our opponents are well-trained and experienced. We’ll need to stay on our toes and be ready to adapt. Just keep clam and go as we practiced"
As they discussed their strategy for the next round, the rest of the battles took longer than Lyan’s, giving them time to plan. Suddenly, a tournament organizer approached them, holding a clipboard. "Participant Wilhelmina, Solia, your next match is about to begin. Please follow me to the arena."
The group exchanged determined glances and followed the organizer. The atmosphere in the arena was electric, with spectators eagerly awaiting the next set of battles. The sound of clashing weapons and roaring cheers filled the air, creating a thrilling backdrop for the upcoming fight.
With a confident smile, Lyan looked at the two girls. "Good luck."
Wilhelmina and Solia returned his encouragement with beaming smiles. "Of course!"
As they stepped into the arena, their hearts raced with excitement. The crowd’s energy was palpable, a vibrant mix of anticipation and enthusiasm that charged the air around them. They glanced at each other, their smiles reflecting a shared determination and confidence.
Their opponents emerged from the opposite side of the arena, a pair of seasoned warriors with an air of discipline and experience. The tension was thick as the announcer’s voice echoed through the arena, signaling the start of the match.
Wilhelmina took the lead, her sword gleaming in the sunlight as she assessed their adversaries. Solia, ever agile and alert, positioned herself slightly behind Wilhelmina, ready to support her friend with swift strikes and evasive maneuvers.
The battle began with a flurry of movement. Wilhelmina’s sword clashed against her opponent’s blade, the sound of metal on metal ringing through the arena. Solia darted around the battlefield, her speed and agility allowing her to strike at opportune moments, keeping their foes on the defensive.
Lyan watched from the sidelines, his eyes keenly following every move. He could see the intricate dance of combat, the fluidity of their fighting style honed through countless hours of training. His confidence in their abilities was unwavering, knowing they had what it took to triumph.
(They’re doing great)
Lilith’s voice resonated in his mind, filled with approval.
(Yes, Wilhelmina’s strength and Solia’s agility complement each other perfectly)
Arturia agreed, her tone reflecting her pride in their performance.
As the battle intensified, Wilhelmina and Solia began to exploit their opponents’ weaknesses. Wilhelmina’s powerful strikes forced her adversary to constantly defend, while Solia’s swift and precise attacks created openings that she and Wilhelmina capitalized on. The synergy between them was evident, each movement and strike executed with practiced precision.
Their opponents, though skilled, struggled to keep up with the relentless assault. Wilhelmina’s opponent, a burly swordsman, found himself driven back by her sheer strength and determination. Solia’s opponent, a lithe and nimble fighter, was overwhelmed by her speed and agility, unable to land a decisive blow.
Finally, with a powerful swing, Wilhelmina disarmed her opponent, sending his sword flying across the arena. At the same moment, Solia landed a swift kick, knocking her adversary to the ground. The crowd erupted into cheers, the sound echoing through the arena as the announcer declared their victory.
Wilhelmina and Solia waved to the cheering spectators before making their way back to their team, smiles of triumph on their faces.
"You were incredible," Lyan praised as they rejoined the group. "Let’s keep this momentum going. We’ve got more rounds to win. Let’s reap as much of rewards as we can,"
"The tournament’s rewards are quite substantial," Lyan began, gathering his team around him. "Winning each round not only brings us closer to the final victory but also comes with tangible benefits."
He paused, letting the excitement build. "For starters, each victory in the elimination rounds grants a monetary reward. First-round winners receive 10,000 Elnes in the form of Big Silver Coins. For the second round, the prize doubles to 20,000 Elnes. As we advance further, the rewards only increase. By the quarter-finals, winners earn 100,000 Elnes. Semi-finalists take home 500,000 Elnes, and the grand champion will receive a prize of 10,000,000 Elnes, which is equivalent to 10 Gold Coins."
Wilhelmina’s eyes sparkled at the mention of such generous rewards. "That’s quite a fortune," she said, her voice filled with determination. "We could do a lot with that money."
"Indeed," Lyan agreed. "But it’s not just about the money. The champions of the tournament also earn significant prestige. For those of you with noble backgrounds or aspirations, this could be a way to restore or elevate your status."
Solia nodded thoughtfully. "Reputation can open many doors. It could mean new opportunities, alliances, and even patronage from influential figures."
Lyan continued, "There’s also the matter of special prizes. The tournament sponsors have promised rare and valuable items to the finalists. These could be enchanted weapons, unique armors, or even powerful artifacts. Such items could greatly enhance our capabilities and provide us with an edge in future battles."
Tesha’s eyes widened with excitement. "Imagine getting our hands on a legendary weapon or a piece of enchanted armor. That would be incredible!" Her youthful eyes brimmed like a child expecting to get a new toy.
Lyan smiled at Tesha’s enthusiasm. "And let’s not forget the offers that might come from spectators. Many of them are nobles, merchants, and influential figures who could offer contracts, sponsorships, or employment opportunities. Winning this tournament could set you guys up for life."
Wilhelmina looked around at her companions, her resolve evident. "Then we have every reason to give it our all. This isn’t just a tournament; it’s a chance to change our futures."
Lyan nodded in agreement. "Exactly. So let’s stay focused, support each other, and fight with everything we’ve got. The rewards are within our grasp, but we have to earn them."
