Chapter 80: Turnover
Chapter 80: Turnover
In total, after 8 hours of continuous sex, Valtar finally felt somewhat satisfied. They both went to sleep again on the bed after putting a clean sheet on it. After 2 more hours had passed, something happened. Thailyn’s body started moving, but there was a strange pattern in her eyes, something different. Her green eyes were no more and now had a yellowish color in them.
Something akin to a sharp old knife appeared in her hands as Valtar’s back was wide open in front of her. She hesitated momentarily, but thinking about her sisters, she became determined. There was no other choice; even a caged life was a life, and she was not willing to let her sisters die.
Just as she was about to pierce his back straight through the relic, something sharp pierced right through her chest instead. She let out a pained scream.
"Aghhhhhhhh..."
Her eyes widened in disbelief, not understanding what had happened. Blood came out of her mouth, She saw how Valtar was gracefully getting up from the bed and faced her with a cold and indifferent look. As if he was expecting it all along.
A trace of sadness showed in her eyes, but she heard him say something,
"Why?"
But his voice was devoid of any emotion. As she stared at him, she replied matter of factly,
"Why? There is no why; this is just how it is supposed to be, and you know it."
Valtar shook his head slightly and refuted, "You know that’s not what I mean. I am asking for your reason."
She said in a helpless voice, "I can’t just watch you kill my sisters."
He took a deep breath and understood her motive. He had suspected to be stabbed in the back from the beginning. The water Fae had a cloaking spell, which veiled her existence as long as she stood still. He had instructed it at a certain point to remain hidden.
Right now, the possessed Water Fae was holding the stabbed sword right into her chest, Valtar commanded it to not pierce her heart in one go, as he had some questions for her.
"There was something in that spice that you gave me to use on the meat, wasn’t there?"
"And you’re ability is emotional influence and instability, isn’t it?" he stated in a menacing tone.
She only smiled sadly in response, and with one last mental command of Valtar, the water Fae stabbed the sword right into the heart of Thailyn. She did not let out even a scream this time, she simply looked at him with an immense trace of sadness that she was unable to disguise.
After a few moments, when consciousness left her body, the whole bed was covered in green blood. The water fae handed the source crystal of Thailyn to Valtar. He was also feeling somewhat sad; a part of him would have preferred to keep her by his side.
He swallowed the crystal, and this time, a change occurred right after swallowing it; he was able to notice the change as well. The small amount of feeling that was generated for Thailyn and the lingering sadness for her, everything had vanished. Looking at her dead body, he now felt nothing.
His eyes widened in disbelief. What happened after Elmyra died popped in his head,
’Damn it, damn it, damn it. Now I understand everything about how I was manipulated at that time, how all those feelings were fake. FUCK!!!!!!’
He screamed internally in realization. Of course, it wasn’t Thailyn who did it. He wanted to shout aloud and curse, but he couldn’t let the queen the know that he had now become immune to certain influences, and he realized her few previous manipulations.
He forcefully calmed his mind, he continued to be deep in thought in his mind but eventually let go of his thoughts. He turned Thailyn’s body into a Ghostbound. Now it was time to face the rest of the Fae and kill them all. He was closing in on his freedom.
Yet, the biggest hurdle remains nonetheless. The real deal is the queen, she always was, and everyone else is just a paper tiger. He looked at everything around him for a few more moments and set out towards the castle of the Fae queen.
After coming down, the snake lowered its head, and Valtar sat on top of its head and continued slithering through the grounds, heading towards the castle. In 20 minutes they had reached the place where the fight took place between the lesser fae and his ghostbounds.
There was not a single trace left that it was once a gruesome battlefield. He lingered there for a moment, and the 4 remaining fae came out. He looked at all of them closely, It wasn’t hard to realize that each of the Fae was connected to a certain element or type of abilities.
Nor was it hard to realize the type of abilities these 4 may have. Especially if one looked at their eye and hair color as well as the pattern in their irises. One was poison, one was earth, one was shadow or perhaps darkness? he wasn’t sure. The remaining one is likely metal or silver.
They all glared at him viciously, there was 15 meters of distance between. Valtar now had 4 ghostbounds with him, including the recent Thailyn. But considering her ability, she was mostly useless in the battle, he had tested it as well. The ghostbound is unable to use any of her emotional manipulative abilities. So, both sides were equal in number if she is excluded.
Valtar had previously evolved the blood spear skill, thinking he might be able to use it since this place was bathed in blood at that time, but it was now rendered useless since the queen had cleaned up everything. One of the Fae came forward and asked Valtar while looking at Thailyn,
"How?"
Valtar clicked his tongue. It seemed they did not know about any of those things that happened or what she planned to do. He looked at her and shook his head slightly indicating that he won’t say it or that there’s no need to talk about it.
They all released their killing intent on him, but it was nothing to Valtar; he simply released his own murderous intent in return. Even with their combined effort, they could not match his singular killing intent since he had killed far more than what they killed throughout their lifetimes through schemes and deceptions.
It was also evident these High Fae were not as smart as they were thought to be; it was only that they had powerful abilities that gave them an immense advantage, which they simply used for themselves to play games.
Then there was no need for any more words as all the 4 fae started to transform as they all muttered in unison, "Elemental Empowerment."
Valtar’s mind started running in gears, thinking what would be the best approach. He looked at the sky for a moment, but there was no trace of the queen anywhere; she was likely watching everything from her castle.
It only took him a few seconds to decide the best approach and commanded each of the ghostbounds to go and take care of each opponent except for Thailyn.
The Shadow Snake dashed towards the poison Fae, the thunder Fae went towards the Metal Fae, and the water Fae took on the Fae with the Earth element.
Valtar himself decided to deal with the one with darkness or shadow element.
The moment they went into the empowerment mode, their bodies transformed wholly, and their features became covered in their element. Their elements also spread out from their bodies and started affecting a large area outside of them. It was something similar to how the fire Fae had spread out her flames through a wide range in the ground which caused debuff effects on Valtar.
His own 2 ghostbounds also went into elemental empowerment mode and dashed forward.
The first clash happened between the shadow snake and the poison fae. She wielded dark green viscous liquid as if she were controlling water. She converted part of the poison liquid into a gaseous state and started spreading it in the air in the form of a green mist. Of course, it wasn’t fast enough to spread into a wide area to confuse the large shadow snake.
It swung its massive tail and slammed it into the ground with immense power, which ended up generating a powerful flow of wind that cleared all the poison mist, not to mention that the shadow snake itself was, to a large extent, immune to poison. The beast itself could spit poison from its mouth. So, unless she was able to inject a large amount of her poison into the vital points of the snake, it would not be able to do anything harmful to the massive snake.
The poison Fae was also outclassed by the snake when it came to physical prowess, she had an annoyed expression on her face, since the damn snake was pretty much a counter to most of her abilities. But the Fae was not hopeless, she simply had to play it smart.
Since it was a beast in the end, it could not be too smart. Even so, she wouldn’t dare to underestimate it since it was very much possible that she would die even with the slightest mistake on her part.
