Chapter 71: Life and Death
Chapter 71: Life and Death
Valtar was enraged by the Fae’s overbearing words in front of him. A calm rage overtook his mind, which surprisingly did not make Valtar lose control; rather, it only made him focus even more.
His skills both were still active ’Tiger speed’ and ’Darkness Overload’ and their time has yet to run out. Valtar thought that it was time to show a few more of his cards. He commanded the system, ’Evolve skill blood spear’
[Consuming 30 Positive Karma to Evolve the Skill.]
[Evolving.......]
[’ Blood Spear’ has evolved to ’Blood Manifestation’]
[Blood Manifestation: You can manifest weapons of blood. If there is fresh blood near 100 within a 100-meter radius. You can control the weapons in mind with mental power and you do not need to remain still.]
Valtar added another command, ’Awake all ghosts.’
[Awakening......]
With that command done, a loud and terrifying screech could be heard from behind the 4 Fae standing side by side. The large Shadow snake had reached that place immediately on Valtar’s command.
Also on the open ground where the battle between the Lesser Fae and the Dark Elves took place. All the lesser who had fallen were rising unnaturally. At first, their movements were extremely stiff like dead bodies being controlled by something external.
However, their movements slowly became natural and fluid but there were a few things very peculiar. Their eyes were glowing blood with a strange crimson pattern in them.
Their expression were dead and hollow indicating that they were indeed dead beings controlled by something. They slowly started marching towards the place where their master was, the place he was calling them to, the place he was fighting in.
The Fae queen looked at the lesser ones of her race which have been converted to the puppets of the human. No hint of emotion could be seen in her eyes, only a slight smile that concealed her true emotions.
The 4 Fae that were standing in front of Valtar were surprised by the sudden scream of the Shadow snake from behind. Then suddenly among the 5 who continued to watch the show it was Thailyn who spoke up, "Valtar, it was not her intention to stab you in the back."
"You should have realized, she had no killing intent on that attack. She only wanted to stop you from devouring the source crystal of Raelyn."
Valtar was surprised for a moment seeing the innocent Shy Thailyn be so serious all of a sudden but his attention diverted to the words she said, he thought for a moment and realized it was indeed true that there was no killing intent behind that attack nor was it concealed in any way. He asked the reason for it.
Thailyn replied calmly, "Our source crystal is given to the tree of Birth which uses its energy to nurture a future Fae. So, you should understand how precious it is."
Hearing this he could not help but think that they were still treating the entire thing as a game even when one of them had died. Then snickered and said resolutely, "I advise all of you to stop treating all of this as a fucking game. Because I’m not here to play, I’m only here to kill every single one of you."
Thailyn sensing his resolute killing intent sighed and said no more, a sad expression appeared on her face but Valtar said nothing seeing that. He is enraged, a sneak attack is a sneak attack, and the reason behind it does not matter.
But hearing Valtar’s last words, the 4 Fae on the ground showed a mocking expression, and just as they were about to say something insulting. Valtar said in a thunderous voice, "QUET."
It was almost like a resounding command akin to the order of a superior being. Their bodies unknowingly obeyed the order for a moment as they were unable to say anything.
Then there was no wait as the Shadow snake swung its large tail at the 4 enemies.
Among the four, two Fae immediately turned around, and one of them used some kind of spell to create a water wall that barely blocked the snake’s attack.
The composition of the 4 Fae was like this, one specialized in wind, one in thunder, one in water control, and the remaining one was good at support-type tactics. The water Fae and support type turned around to face the shadow snake while Valtar himself would be facing Shailyn who controlled wind and the one with thunder element.
Even at the start of their battle Valtar could not help but snicker at these arrogant bitches.
If the thunder controller and water controller worked together they could have maximized both party’s abilities which would have posed a greater threat to Valtar in turn.
But the one named Shailyn most likely would not give up on facing Valtar, that was also good for him he would only feel satisfied after killing her. So, he dashed forward manifesting two sharp swords of darkness. Shailyn herself did not remain idle as she manifested huge amounts of wind which propelled her into the skies, she then started chanting in a strange language again which created a suction of wind forces around her.
She swung her hand attacking with a sharp wind blade. She continued to swing her hands relentlessly without stopping. Valtar cut off each of her wind blades with ease. On the other hand, the Thunder controller smirked towards Valtar and suddenly went through a transformation as she muttered the knowing words, ’Elemental Empowerment.’
Valtar quickly rushed at her with full power with his ’Tiger Speed’ skill which significantly boosted his speed to a greater level. But he was unable to reach her in the nick of time because of the continuous wind blades of Shailyn which he could cancel but it hurt him on his body regardless since they had powerful cutting power.
When he was just half a meter away from the thunder elements Fae and he was just about to attack. The Fae opened her eyes gave a devilish grin at him and spread her arms wide.
A spear of an electric storm spread out from her as the central point.
Instantly Valtar was hit with a petrifying attack. Even though his body was countless times stronger than a normal human, coming in contact with electricity was still very dangerous to him albeit to a far lesser degree.
He was thrown out more than 10 meters behind, electricity was coursing through his body, shaking him badly and causing him incredible pain. He was unable to move for a moment. In that brief moment, Shailyn also transformed herself into the Empowerment mode of the wind.
While maintaining her distance she created a 20-meter-tall tornado. Which then was charged with large amounts of Thunder by the Thunder controller Fae. The large tornado soon engulfed Valtar.
The maelstrom of sharp winds assaulted his body from all corners as countless small cuts started appearing on his body while small bolts of thunderstruck his body like the judgments of heaven denying him to leave the forest alive no matter what.
Valtar was in pain, enormous amounts of pain, beyond a bearable point. Even when he faced Hansel for the first time he was not this helpless. This was the first time he was caught in a trap like this. He had to admit he was wrong, it wasn’t for no reason that these 2 Fae were the ones to face him.
What was dangerous about this situation of his was not his being unable to get out of here. Rather he knew how to get out of there but the question was if he would manage to do that much or die beforehand from the continuous thunder shock or maybe die from bleeding because of the wind blades cutting his skin non-stop.
Truly a horrifying state, His entire body was covered in his blood from the cuts of the wind blades and the thunder strikes were slowly turning his body into charcoal. With all the will he could muster he commanded the darkness of his blades to cover his entire body.
As expected, the darkness was moving as slow as a snail. ’Darkness manifestation’ was a skill that worked actively with his control. It simply doesn’t do something with a single command. With electricity overloading his brain and burning his bleeding body continuously, it was already a miracle for him to not faint at this point but to fight against the electricity that was overloading his commands of the brain waves which were also composed of small waves of Electricity.
But he fought on regardless, with every interval of thunderstrike in those brief moments he willed the darkness to move onto his whole body to cover him. Then the lightning would strike again, halting his progress. This would continue indefinitely, again and again and again.
The blood loss from the cuts was also slowing down his thinking. But there was one upside to it. The cuts from the wind blades caused him a different type of pain. Which sightly helped him keep his mind clear.
Eventually, he was making progress despite his pain, despite his agony. Progress towards both his death and his life. His brain was overloaded to the point that he was simply unable to use any of his other skills that could potentially save his life.
So, he did the only thing that he could do and fought on with his unshakable mentality.
Slowly but surely the darkness was crawling over his body little by little. But his end was also nearing, would he be able to save himself or he would face an untimely death, no one knew.
On the Outside Shailyn was using all of her energy to keep the raging storm of enormous tornado active at all costs, the thunder Fae was also powering the Storm continuously with her Thunder strikes. The Thunder Fae could not help but ask Shailyn, "was it necessary to use our strongest attack combined like this? Is he that dangerous?"
She looked at her sister who now looked like the embodiment of thunder itself, and said flatly,
"You know Shina’s intuition is rarely wrong, even the queen takes her warnings seriously."
Her expression became somewhat complicated as she nodded, "You’re right it is better to be safe than be sorry later on."
She shifted her gaze toward the eye of the storm and said, "Though we can’t see what’s going on there at the center. At least, with this much the human’s body should be nothing but charcoal by now."
Shailyn also smiled and said, "Though the others will be very angry, I don’t care, it just meant the human was not good enough from the start that’s all."
