Chapter 70: Fallout

She tried attacking by controlling tree roots; she failed. She tried to make some distance before launching a long-range attack; she failed. She tried using her superior mental power and attacking with a mental wave; even that barely affected Valtar, whose mental fortitude was already far above someone of his average level.

Then not being able to hold on any longer at the ruthless-unrelenting attacks of her enemy she finally activated one of her trump cards, it was truly because she believed initially that she would not need to use this move. She erased all of her anger and only a cold determination remained in her heart, perhaps she should have paid more attention to the words of the queen.

The queen would not have hidden the activities of the human from them if he was not someone strong enough, it precisely because he is someone capable that she made these arrangements so that they could enjoy themselves with a good challenge. So, she stopped underestimating the human and decided to go all out with the real possibility of her death in the fray.

Valtar also noticed the change in her entire demeanor as he tensed his muscles and became ready for the worst. Suddenly out of nowhere an extreme amounts of heat started spreading from her body as Raelyn began to glow in a crimson light, Valtar was forced to manifest more darkness and wrap it around his armour.

[No status abnormality is mixed in the fire as such the Fire Affinity of the host is weakening its potency by half]

Hearing the sudden notification the corner of his mouth curled up ever so slightly. Raelyn did not notice this small change as she was focused more on her transformation as she said, "Elemental Empowerment."

The moment she said those words strange lava-like patterns spread through her entire body as she began to transform into a fiery lava-like being. Her hairs became like strands of lava, her entire body was caught in fire. For a moment Valtar looked at the being in front of him in slight awe, for some reason the Fae in front of him looked even more beautiful and majestic after transformation.

Valtar was already attacking her again, he tried to attack her in the middle of her transformation. However, her transformation barely took a few seconds and in that time she crushed a small object in her hands which generated a faint transparent barrier in the area surrounding her.

After her transformation, the barrier was shattered on its own as both parties started attacking without any more fanfare. Raelyn punched with her bare hands at the 2 swords made of darkness. Raelyn’s punch was fierce because it carried immense heat and destructive power. But he was not far behind, he was a man who burned alive in a tornado of fire that could not stop him when he was even less, so how could this amount of fire stop him when he was much much stronger as well as had better resistance?

His blades of darkness were now also corroding his opponent at a greater speed. His blades were sharper, attacks were deadly, and his dark steps were used to their full advantage both parties continuously dealing small but accumulative damage to each other.

For a moment both parties were at a stalemate but at a deeper glance, one would see that it was Valtar who had the upper hand in the fight. Valtar was playing the long game here, unlike him who was not paying any high price or using his more powerful skills, the Fae had a time limit in that mode of fire. The more time passed, the more he would be at an advantage and when the time was right, he also knew how to finish it off.

After 5 more minutes had passed, both parties were panting heavily, their bodies were riddled with wounds of various degrees but Raelyn was in a much worse state from what could inferred by her pale complexion.

Regardless their deadly battle continued without a moment of respite, Valtar was still waiting for that moment, the moment when there was an opening, that chance to end his enemy. Eventually, that chance came before him like a flicker of deep darkness in broad daylight.

That very moment he activated his skill ’Shadow Binding Howl’, he targeted the full power of the skill only at his opponent and with the full power that he could muster. The reason he had to wait till his opponent was exhausted was for a few reasons in total,

only when she is exhausted will there be an opening to exploit when she is exhausted the effect of the skill ’shadow binding howl’ will be much much greater. In that moment of weakness, she will not have the ability to use any external powers to free herself.

Adding to the reason that Raelyn is unable to use other elements or skills when in that form. It granted her great power for a short amount of time and great use of her element but that’s it. In fact from the beginning of entering into ’Elemental Empowerment.’ mode,

she realized something very very wrong which she had no idea about. The damn human in front of her had 50% or more fire affinity which halved her battle prowess against Valtar, resulting in her lackluster performance which made her look weak.

When the human let out that strange howl from his mouth, her entire body froze as thick chains came out from her shadows not letting her move even in the slightest. At that moment she was feeling immense regret, regret of underestimating the human. Not being cautious enough of him.

It would only take her 2 seconds to get out of that bind. However, that was time more than enough for Valtar to take her life. Valtar without wasting a single second activated the ’tiger speed’ skill, then with his increased agility plunged his sword right into the skull of Raelyn.

Kruk.......

The clear sounds of bone piercing could be heard in the surroundings and the eyes of Fae widened to a hideous degree telling the tale of shock in her last moments, blood flowed down from her forehead, and she had a twisted expression in her last moments. All together which made her previously beautiful-looking face look ugly at this moment. Valtar pulled back his sword from the skull which as a result made another sound of flesh piercing.

Puchi......

Without waiting a single more second, he carved out the green-looking crystal from her body and looked at it intently. Just then he suddenly sensed something from behind, his eyes widened, ’A sword attack?’

For a moment he was enraged, ’these fucking bitches dare to attack me in my blind spot like this.’ Just as the blade was about to come near his head, he tossed the crystal in his mouth and attacked the incoming sword with so much force that a small explosion occurred at the point of collision, and the one to attack him got pushed back more than 5 meters from the sheer force of the impact.

Valtar swallowed the crystal without hesitation and looked towards the bitch that attacked him, it was a Fae with hair color of green and white mixed in it. It seems except for the Fae queen none of the High Fae had pure green hair.

It was the Fae named Shailyn, she looked at her sword in shock which was now bent, almost broken and she received some internal damage as well from the sheer force of impact. She glared at Valtar viciously and said, "Fucking wretch, spit out her ’source crystal’ right now?"

Valtar said in an overly mocking tone, "You want me to spit out my fruits of victory?"

He then gestured with his hand for her to come closer and said, "Kneel in front of me and open your mouth wide, I’ll spit it onto your mouth. Hehe, maybe spit something more inside of it as well."

Hearing those words there was silence, pin-drop silence, suddenly maddening laughter came out of the mouth of the Fae in front of him, but he wasn’t scared. Compared to his madness that was suppressed by the skill of ’Balanced Emotion’ this was an utter joke.

The Fae said aloud, "I Shailyn promise in the name of our queen, I will make you lowly human regret ever being born in this world."

She then gestured towards the other Fae and said to them, "Sisters are you going to continue this charade Let’s finish this human."

There 8 more Fae hovering in the air, they all were silent as if pondering something deeply, and then 3 Fae came down.

One of them said, "Well, I don’t mind joining in the fun a bit sooner."

Another one said, "Who do you think you are fooling, you’re not his match so you called for us?"

The remaining one stated, "Whatever, I’m getting a bad feeling from this human for some reason, let’s finish this guy sooner."

The remaining 5 did not move from their positions as they kept hovering at a good distance between the battlegrounds. They were able to keep floating there because of an ability of their queen letting witness the battle to their heart’s content.

However, Valtar’s eyes were fuming with an unhealthy amount of murderous intent as certain words of the Fae kept ringing in his ears again and again.
