Chapter 69: The End of his Tale
Chapter 69: The End of his Tale
On the other hand, 5 Lesser fae were standing right to their opposite only a distance of 4 meters separating the both parties. At one point in the battle, the Lesser Fae made a trap for Zolthar, as it was in the midst of a chaotic struggle the ghostbound was unable to recognize the trap as such it sustained much heavier injuries but still managed to come out of it by sacrificing a good number of ghostbounds, for that reason their advantage had slightly waned at this point.
Zolthar was in a brutal state not to mention the second boost of the "Ghost Summoner" skill which worked by draining the blood of the dark elves was running out. The already old body of Zolthar now looked more and more like a shriveled corpse.
Even so, its will was unyielding even in death, even after death. Dark blue blood covered his entire body. If Valtar had seen this, he would have been definitely awed by the will of this man who was long dead.
The eyes of the Zolthar glowed an even more vibrant red, he gripped his sword’s handle even tighter. Its face which was emotionless as it should be for reason flickered slightly as if a trace of sentience crept onto its being in its mindless struggle by its master’s command.
A glint of ruthlessness showed in its eyes that was hard to understand as it jumped forward and attacked furiously at the lesser fae who were also not far from their demise. Because their boost in power also came at a great price of their lifespan but they had no choice.
Born as the lesser ones they had no choice but to obey the High ones above them their lives were full of untold misery. No matter how humiliating or painful something they had to do it as long as the High ones asked of it. While the high fae was tormented by boredom, the lesser ones only craved the end of the continuous torture the high ones imposed on them.
Most of them died with a smile on their faces. But just because of that reason alone, they would not simply put down their lives without struggle. They were also enjoying the battle to their greatest ability eventually disregarding their own lives to take out the enemy. Their freedom was near.
Zolthar pressed with absolute ruthlessness that was hard to comprehend. His breathtaking dance of sword that continuously tore apart the skin of his enemies was the personification of darkness in its total glory.
There was a certain flow to his swordsmanship that would even put the greatest of the geniuses to utter shame. Once he starts to swing his sword, from outside it would look as graceful as a dance of darkness that that being performed in the dim light of dawn.
An inaudible sigh escaped from the Fae Queen as she watched this deadly dance of darkness amid light, she stated to herself, "Perhaps it was not Hansel who was the deadliest one among the dark elves but rather this one."
Their battle raged on, the ghostbounds other than the first elder used all their might’s to fend of the remaining Fae for a short amount of time, In that small window of opportunity generated by them, he made his final counterattack.
With a speed countless times faster than before. He inchoated his blade with an even thicker layer of darkness and with a powerful thrust that felt like a blur pierced directly into the brain of one of the Fae, he continued his murderous assault without letting the others defend themselves even for a second.
After 2 minutes of final struggle, all the lesser fae lay dead in the battleground and Zolthar fell to his knees the boost was over, and the blood in his body was gone. His red eyes dimmed slowly as he fell to the ground lifelessly, the ghostbound closed its eyes sleeping peacefully in the pool of thick green blood.
That was the moment when all the traces of the dark elves within this forest were gone forever, the countless tales of their enormous struggle never heard again. In the end, their bodies were used to the utmost capacity by the very human that killed all of them, what an Irony.

Back in the fight between Valtar and Raelyn -
Raelyn was furious at the human, she could say with certainty that she never felt this amount of rage ever in her life. She made a strange motion with her hand and something akin to a staff made of tree appeared in her hands. She again started chanting in a strange tongue, but this time she was vigilant and faster.
Valtar would not wait for the enemy to ready their attack as he pulled his hand in a backward motion ready to throw his spear. Then the moment the spear was about to be launched from his hand, something like a vine grabbed onto one of his leg and pulled it which resulted in the spear not going in the right direction.
Seeing Raelyn gave him a taunting smirk, Valtar was not angry but only surprised a bit. Because considering how all of his passive skills were active he should have been able to sense the tree vine coming to grab his leg. He shrugged internally and this time made a sword with his darkness, he cut the tree vine.
Unfortunately, at this moment the attack of Raelyn was ready as she looked at him with a grin and stumped his staff loudly on the ground. From that point as a center, a bright red fire began to spread out in all directions. Valtar jumped quickly to avoid the fire spreading through the ground but he was unable to get out of its range an area 50 meters in diameter was covered by the flames. At the last moment, he covered his body in an armor of darkness.
Despite that, for some reason, the heat was reaching to him, albeit to a lesser degree. At this moment the system notified him,
[Host had been inflicted with a weakening skill]
[As long as the host is in the fiery grounds, the host will be weakened by 20%]
Valtar could feel himself being weakened immensely. For some reason, he almost felt disgusted by being forcefully weakened. He let out a sigh, he did not want to use this skill of his just in the first fight but there was no choice, he muttered, ’Darkness Overload’
It was the skill attached to his earrings which has this attached skill which quadruples the control over the darkness element. The moment their skill of his was activated pure black darkness began to spread out from beneath his feet and covered an area of 25 meters in diameter centering him.
Though the darkness could not cover up the entire area of fire, it was enough to extinguish half of it. Valtar dashed forward in full speed, and slashed down with his sword.
Bang.
To his surprise Raelyn blocked the attack with her frail looking wooden staff, and it did not break. There wasn’t even a scratch on it. The element of darkness had the passive effect of decay in its every attack especially when the ’Darkness Overload’ skill was active which 4x that effect of decay as well.
He stepped back slightly, his expression was still cold and indifferent but internally he was frowning, he naturally had lots of tricks up his sleeve but those tricks he could not use now, otherwise he would simply be a simple lamb waiting to be slaughtered later on.
He could only defeat and kill the bitch in front of him by revealing as less as possible. Because the Fae at the end of the day was a cunning race, not a race of brutes who liked fighting or lost their mind in battle.
At this moment Raelyn had canceled her fire-spreading skill seeing it was useless, which indicated that it was an ability that consumed a lot of energy to maintain. Valtar suddenly felt something, all of his ghostbounds were gone.
He could now go there and use the ’Blood Spears’ skill or summon the ghosts of the Fae. However, thinking some more decided not to, he should at least be able to do this much. Even those skills should not be revealed yet.
Valtar pulled back all of his darkness element, concentrated all of the darkness he could muster and manifested 2 very sharp swords. With all this time using this skill what he could understand from its use cases is that the quality of the weapon he manifests depends largely on his ability to imagine the most optimal weapon.
Not only imagine but it also has to be practical and his understanding of the weapon itself has to be very good for it as well. Then he dashed forward again at full force. This time Raelyn was forced to fight him on close combat. But she was not inexperienced in close combat either.
Raelyn specialized in Fire elements. This makes her one of the most dangerous ones among her sisters but one of her weaknesses is that her every attack, especially the long-range ones needs some time to prepare before launching.
Valtar was slashing at her ruthlessly like a demon forgetting all about his defense, precisely because of that Raelyn was forced to defend her with her staff more vehemently she was totally on a passive position in this confrontation. Which served to anger her even more.
