Chapter 68: Fear of the Fae
Chapter 68: Fear of the Fae
The most beautiful place within the hidden forest is obviously the area designated to the illustrious Fae folks, the place most peaceful and beautiful in the entire forest. It is also the place where the most scheming and vile beings lie.
The Fae could be said to be the overlords of this hidden forest filled with countless dangers and mysteries. Yet, for the first in countless years, someone had dared to challenge their reign, someone had invaded into this part of the forest.
In a designated place specified for battle within this section, all the Lesser fae were clashing against dark elves who were somewhat similar to them in numbers. On both sides stand the commanders of this battle one was a human standing with a subtle smile and on the opposite corner was a High Fae, her expression was not so pleasant at the moment.
The brutal slaughter between the minions of both sides raged on relentlessly without a break. The dark green blood of the Lesser Fae and the Dark blue blood of the Ghostbounds by now had covered the grassless grounds of their battlefield.
If one looked carefully it could be seen that compared to the enormous amounts of green blood flowing on the ground the blood of the dark elves were much much less. Not to mention the lesser Fae were only 30 in total while dark elves all were expressionless like puppets.
So, even if all the dark elves were killed it would not matter much to the human but it’s not the same case if all the lesser Fae were to be killed. Even the 9 High Fae standing on the sidelines could not help but frown, they never expected this first battle where the minions of both sides clash to be this one sided.
Raelyn clenched her fists, It is true that Fae mainly seek entertainment through schemes and various vile methods and they love it when they are faced with challenges but that doesn’t mean they like the feeling of losing. Looking intently at the battlefield more than half of the lesser Fae were already killed. The same could be said about the dark elves that the human controlled.
But for the reasons above this only added more shame to the Fae, Raelyn had no choice but to intervene now, she must kill that one old-looking dark elf. That bastard was the reason why the battle was skewered so much towards that side. Every single lesser Fae that had fallen till now was killed by that damn old elf. Even with their extensive knowledge of pretty much everything within the forest, they had no idea that there was another existence besides the tribe leader himself who was that skilled in combat.
For a moment she felt some anger towards their queen because she was the one obviously who concealed this information. However, that emotion magically vanished as if it was never there in the first place.
She made a motion with her hands and started muttering some incomprehensible words, and a flicker of fire appeared in her hand which slowly started getting bigger and bigger.
Valtar seeing this move, narrowed his eyes, and his smile vanished as a cold and indifferent expression appeared on his face.
He immediately commanded the snake to launch him into the sky by swinging its tail with its full might. It immediately nodded and Valtar grabbed onto its tail. With every bit of strength it could muster the shadow snake swung its tail. Like a meteorite his body shot high in the sky, Valtar turned his body in mid-air now facing Raelyn directly, he was already halfway through the battleground. Seeing that he might not reach the Fae in time to stop the attack, he immediately created a spear using his "Darkness Manipulation".
With his full force he aimed the spear made of pure darkness at the head of Raelyn. Normally if she was vigilant, an attack from this far of a distance and from mid-air meant the force behind it could not be too powerful since Valtar did not have his foot on solid ground. Fortunately for Valtar, Raelyn was too focused on the battle beneath that he paid no attention to Valtar till now.
Only after Valtar threw his spear that Raelyn felt a sense of danger as she immediately looked upwards at the sky. Her pupils trembled violently and she was shocked. Why was a spear made of darkness falling from the sky targeted at her and why was the damn human suddenly in mid-air? It only took her a fraction of a second to realize that this attack was made by the human.
She instantly cancelled her spell and with a powerful stump on her leg propelled her body backwards with all her might. Even though Valtar did not throw the spear from solid ground, the force behind it was nothing to scoff at.
Just as Raelyn jumped back 6-7 meters in a hurry right then the spear made of darkness pierced into the ground where she had stood just a second ago,
Bang...
The power behind the attack was hard enough for it to create a 1-meter-deep crater in the place she was standing. Raelyn could not help but suck in a breath of cold air, if she was just 1 second late she would have been made into a porcupine. The immense anger she was previously feeling vanished and caution as well as a tinge of fear replaced it.
Before she could calm her heart down and be prepared to face the human. With a force far more powerful than before, the human landed right beside the spot where the dark spear was pinned to the ground and a crater bigger than the previous one was formed. Dust rose making the silhouette of the human blurry, yet his piercing blood-red eyes could be seen clearly by Raelyn, she unconsciously staggered back in fear.
Suddenly Raelyn froze in her tracks as she noticed the emotion she was feeling, she muttered internally, ’I was feeling fear? From a fucking human nonetheless.’
The moment she realized that all her fear vanished, she was furious, absolutely furious.
From the moment of their birth, they were always told to be the most superior race within the forest in every way. The human tribe of east on the other hand was the weakest, yet now a human dared to be so audacious.
She could not accept it, she absolutely could not. Not when all her good sisters as well as the queen were watching everything. She would become the biggest laughing stock for them for her entire life if she were to be overwhelmed by this human any further.
She roared furiously, "Damn HUMAN......."

Meanwhile, the 9 other High Fae who were watching everything from the start were even more shocked than Raelyn herself. When Raelyn prepared the fire attack to destroy the body of Zolthar who was the one taking out most of the Lesser Fay, most of them thought that the advantage of the poor human was about to be finished.
Yet, in the next moment, the human with the help of the large snake, threw himself into the sky, then attacked from mid-air, and then landed on this side in the fastest way possible without needing to go through the battlefield in the middle. Their hearts almost stopped seeing the most unconventional method they had ever seen and from a human at that. For a moment they forgot the fact their sister was fighting against the human and they all clenched their fists in sheer excitement at the unexpected move that the human pulled off.
They almost wanted to cheer loudly but thankfully held themselves back. Then seeing how Raelyn barely dodged that spear in just 1 second time if not she would have been pierced through, they all sucked in a breath of cold air. Then after the human landed from the sky right beside that spear pinned to the ground, they could see the visible fear in Raelyn’s eyes for a moment until she became enraged this time.
They all chuckled in amusement seeing how their sister’s emotion went from caution to fear to Anger. While the Fae were indeed arrogant and proud, they were not foolish beings.
After all, they were masters of trickery at least within this forest. Whatever contempt they had towards the human vanished in its entirety after the stunt the human pulled.
Even Thailyn could not help but let out a sigh of relief for not being the one to fight him first. She let out a sweet giggle seeing the fight as she continued to observe every minute action and ability of the human. No one knew what she was thinking neither was anyone paying any attention to her in particular since all of them were wholeheartedly focusing on the human now.

In the meantime on the battlefield of Lesser Fae and Dark elves.
This looked nothing less than slaughter ground at this moment filled with blood of dark blue and green. Countless limbs of both races now lay on the grounds.
The initial boost that both races were using was coming to an end. So, whether it was the lesser Fae or the Ghostbounds, all of them were becoming weaker and weaker at least the ones who were alive that is. Among the 37 ghostbounds of Valtar, only 4 were remaining standing barely alongside the fearsome Zolthar who seemed to be the most injured.
