Chapter 51: The Fae Folks

Chapter 51: The Fae Folks

The Fae continued their discussion at the table, but for a moment, their discussion was diverted to how their Queen knew everything and had everything under her control all the time. Well, it’s not that the Queen ever bragged about the fact that she had everything under control or that she knew everything.

It was but a feeling that all the Fae folks had. Because nothing ever surprised their Queen. And they dared not to ask her about the things that should not be asked. Eventually, one of them slammed the table hard and stated in an excited voice, "Who cares about that, For the first time in 500 years the Dark Elven Tribe was slaughtered, that weak tribe of humans has been slaughtered so many times that I lost count. But Elves are not so easily massacred."

"But now that the human has killed all the dark elves. Finally, something big has happened." "hahahhahahhaaaa hahhahahah"

They laughed like a maniac. Yet none of them reprimanded her, rather all of them had a sinister smile on their faces. After all, what she was saying was simply the truth. For the complicated rules imposed on them, all of them are trapped in the forest in their specific area. There was nothing for them to do, people did not realize a very important thing. When an intelligent being is bored and trapped to the point of losing their sanity, they are willing to do anything to relieve that boredom, no matter what.

That was the same for the Fae, while they could not leave their own area or directly harm the beings of other tribes, they had much more flexibility and privilege compared to the members of the other tribes. They did not know how or why.

One of the privileges is to summon a new human to the Eastern Tribe after a certain interval of time. Then there was their innate ability of ’false bargain’, which can be used to sow chaos in the other tribes or cause their downfall. To them, the elven tribe and the human tribe’s existence was nothing but entertainment.

However just as they had privileges, they also had their own curses that they could not escape from. Both the human tribe and Dark Elves tribe have certain conditions which if they are fulfilled, one of them can escape. Though it is not a very big hope for them, it is something great in the eyes of the Fae folks. Because, unlike those 2 tribes, the Fae had no conditions they can fulfill to escape, they are eternally damned to be in this forest trapped forever.

Many of the previous Fae had committed suicide eventually, not being able to bear it.

But they were more tolerant now, they had learned to live with it, using their time to scheme against certain individuals of both tribes. Making the situation more fun. As for the condition of the 2 tribes to escape, it is obviously to kill everyone else in the forest.

The Fae simply treated the condition as a joke, for a certain member of those weak races to become strong enough to survive against them in itself is but the fantasy of the weak beings.

After all, the fact that the Fae were still by far the strongest race within the forest was proof of their might. Many promising individuals arose from both tribes over the years, yet when they came face to face confrontation with the Fae Folks. Their hopes were destroyed, their determinations broken, and their will crumbled.

The reason they were all so excited about the fact that the human had succeeded in slaughtering The Elven Tribe was because it was the first time something like this happened. The Human Tribe of the East had always been the weakest and had crumbled countless times.

Many times they were slaughtered by the Elven Tribe, many times because of the schemes of the Fae, and many times because of internal conflict. It was always the Dark Elves who ever dared to confront them. At least that is what is written in the tribal records.

The Fae folks currently sitting at the table were all new generation Fae, even the Queen was not of the old generation who last confronted the uprising of the Dark Elves. This time they were all previously excited that they would be able to slaughter all the Dark Elves when they attack. So, when something that no one expected happened, they were even more excited.

A human strong enough to kill all the Dark Elves in their own home ground, how could they not be utterly excited at the prospect of facing such a powerful adversary? They are willing to do anything that could cause more excitement inside of them.

Because of their arrogance, they only discussed how fun it would be to play with them humans, Thailyn interjected at this moment, her usually stoic face had a tinge of madness in it, "Let’s decide how we are going to confront the human, after all, we don’t want to kill him too soon."

Another one smiled and added, "Right, right, we must decide in the manner each of us is going to confront the human."

Raelyn spoke, "Let’s not forget about the lesser Fae’s, they also need entertainment."

Shailyn chimed in as well, "Indeed, just because we are High Fae and they are the lesser Fae does not mean we should not let them have at least some fun."

Another crucial piece of information was revealed as the seated ones seem to be called High Fae and the standing ones are called Lesser Fae. Which indicates a slight racial difference.

All of the lesser Fae who were standing obediently had a slightly brightened expression upon hearing those words.

Then another Fae named Shuna stated in a slightly mocking tone, "Well, they can take care of those minions of the human, as for letting them confront the human is out of the question."

Thailyn added, "Indeed, if they confront the human all together they may kill him accidentally and if they do not face him together they will be the ones to get killed. Neither of those outcomes I am willing to accept."

All the other ones sitting at the table also nodded in agreement. Meanwhile, the 20 Lesser Fae had their expression turned slightly gloomy again but no one dared to show displeased expression or voice their disagreements. Indicating the great difference in their status and power.

Shuna suddenly said, "In that case, that’s final then, the minions will be confronted by all the lesser Fae together, and one of us will each take turns confronting the human. So, let’s decide on that then."

Raelyn said, "All of us want to go first, as such no amount of discussion will bear an agreeable result instead let’s just use the magic leaves to decide on that."

All of them agreed and began doing just that.

In the meantime, Valtar who was running towards the Shadow Grounds was currently passing through the midsection of the forest. All of the Dark Elves were coming behind him steadily using their movement technique fluently.

Suddenly he stopped and internally commanded all the Ghostbounds to keep themselves hidden or just stay in the tree branches and not come closer to him. He frowned deeply sensing a familiar feeling and jumped down from a branch.

No audible sound was heard in the surroundings despite him jumping down from more than 30 meters high in the sky from a large tree branch. His proficiency in the dark step movement technique has increased tremendously by now. He was now subtly using it pretty much all the time.

He looked in a certain direction and his frown vanished, an indifferent expression grew on his face. As he said, "Don’t you think you should come out?"

After a few moments of silence, the familiar silhouette of the Fae Queen appeared slowly in front of him. She simply stood there just 5 meters away, looking at him with an innocent and beautiful smile that could melt the hearts of countless men despite her non-human features.

Valtar’s expression remained unchanged as he also kept looking at her in the eyes.

Dyona seeing the unchanged expression of the human said in a slightly sad voice, "Why so cold?"

Her heavenly voice rang out again, her voice was sweet as honey, soft as a marshmallow. Unlike their first meeting where Valtar faltered for a moment hearing her intoxicating voice, this time he was as unmoving as a mountain. The voice was clearly meant to disturb his mind but it yielded no result.

Though Valtar remained unmoved, it was a different case for the Ghostbounds, their bodies trembled for a moment hearing the heavenly voice of the Fae queen. Valtar noticing this anomaly frowned internally for a moment. The Fae queen also noticed it but did not point it out.

Valtar replied to her remark, "Why not?" Dyona almost let out a pitiful sigh as she said, "Indeed, why not?" She looked at the sky with a look of sadness, if any man looked at her they would find a beautiful female to be extremely pitiful and unknowingly step forward to comfort her.

Unfortunately, such tricks did not work on Valtar, he did not feel anything for her from the beginning. Not when the tinge of sadness because of killing Elmyra with his own hands remained in his heart firmly.
