Chapter 49: Hollow Revenge

Now the Fae folks were in panic, their mind attack did not work. All of their senses were suppressed. They could barely see using various skills. For a moment they thought of using their illusion abilities but disregarded that thought instantly.

True Darkness was basically the bane of their existence. Illusion doesn’t work well in the Element of Pure Darkness. Now they could only use their Earth elemental abilities. That’s exactly what they did.

All of them together, attacked with Earth elemental ability, Hansel dodged each of the Earth spikes with relative ease. The reason why they were only using Earth-type skills was because, in this heavy fog of Darkness, they could not manipulate the wind, water, or anything.

Unable to stop the Elf leader with the Earth spikes, they erected an Earth wall. Hansel punched at the Earth wall with full force. He was surprised for a moment that it did not shatter with only one punch, after a few more powerful attacks it broke apart.

To his dismay he did not find 4 helpless Fae quavering in fear, rather all of them seemed different than before. If before they looked similar to human women with additional tree-like features all over their bodies, now they looked inhumane and scary. All of them were holding spears in their hands.

Hansel frowned, he could tell their physical powers had been boosted a lot, and he could feel a sense of danger from them. But he sneered right after, "These lowly bitches think they can match me in close combat with spears?"

The four Fae’s did not waste any more time and attacked with full power, in an instant they closed the distance. The spear techniques were totally synchronized with one another, leaving no obvious way to dodge the attack. Hansel did not intend to dodge the attack either. He intended to fully crush them and break them till theirs no shred of sanity left.

With a powerful sword movement, he blocked all of the spear tips and a metallic explosion rang throughout the forest.

Clanggggg......

Hansel was actually pushed back, his hands felt numb from the sheer force of the impact. On the other hand, the four Fae did not take a simple step back. Hansel then decided to use his Dark step. Since he was being overpowered in strength, let’s use agility.

Hansel used his Dark step in full power and wrapped the darkness all over his body and weapon, since he was in his home ground, why not use it fully? Even then the damn Fae folks seems to be able to somehow track him, but he discovered a slight delay in their tracking.

His eyes flashed with ruthlessness, even if it means seriously getting injured he must kill these damn things. One of the Fae hurled their spear at him in full force. Hansel grabbed the spear with a bare hand and threw it towards another Fae. When its attention was diverted to block that spear Hansel used that exact opportunity to appear behind and stabbed right through its chest.

Like that, another one was down, and then things only became easier. Even though the power boost of each Fae was intense, in front of the superior martial prowess of the Tribe Leader, they had no choice but to fall considering most of their versatile mental abilities were useless in the Darkness.

So, another fell and another then the last one fell as well. Hansel was heavily injured in the middle. He was breathing heavily. He wanted to torture them slowly and capture them. Yet it was not a practical choice. The sweet feeling of Revenge that he would experience was not so sweet, he only felt empty.

He felt hollow. His wife died, and the Fae folks who most likely killed her had also died. What was he to do now? What would he do?

Exactly then, the darkness in the forest stirred, it began to enter Hansel’s body like a tidal wave. The seal of Emotion was placed on the Tribe Leader of the Elven Tribe from that exact moment.

However, it was the next moment that true terror occurred which forever engraved the Fear of Fae folks in the depth of his heart. Hansel suddenly felt something pulling his body, an overwhelmingly powerful force, he could not move a single muscle in his body, even his eyelids would not move.

A trace of panic invaded his mind, unfortunately, he could not do anything. After the unknown force grabbed onto him even more tightly. Like the firing of a cannonball, he was pulled into the area of the Fae folks at an impossible speed.

What he saw made his mind go blank, unlike what one would expect nothing was terrifying on the other side it was a place so beautiful even Hansel in his unstable state of mind had no choice but to marvel at the sheer spectacle of nature that was impossible to describe, It was just that beautiful.

The Dark Elves area was a place sunlight never reached, though that place also had its own beauties. Unfortunately, It could not compare to the magnificent view he was experiencing now. It was a moment when the sun just started rising. Trees each with a unique color and shape, beautiful small birds, and animals and birds were playing around everywhere.

Ground filled with lush green grass. Beautiful flowers were swaying gently in the winds. There was a waterfall on one side which only served to enchant this beautiful scenery even more. Then there was someone standing in the middle of it all with a serene and peaceful expression.

She was beautiful. However, it wasn’t her beauty that was important but the entire nature itself seemed to bow down to her and wrap around her entire being. Plants, animals, insects everything seem to surround and paint a picture of true harmony.

The female who seems to be the personification of nature and harmony itself extended her hand forward as if wanting to grab something. Hansel was floating in the air still bound by an invisible force all this time. His body again shot forward, his throat appeared right at the hand of the Fae queen.

The Fae queen barely grabbed the throat of the Hansel and his breathing stopped for a moment, she loosened her grip right after to let the Tribe leader breathe again. After a few moments of silence, she said in her heavenly voice, "Nice to meet you, Dark Elven Tribe Leader. I am the Fae queen."

Her words were so heavenly and mind-boggling, that Hansel’s seal of emotion almost broke. He gritted his teeth hard enough to make his gums bleed to come back to his senses. Hansel glared at her furiously.

The queen still kept that innocent smile on her face as if she was not choking a fierce warrior but rather playing with rabbits. She added,

"Understandably, you have killed them since they were responsible for the death of your wife, I will let it slide for this once. However, you are not allowed to speak of this to anyone ever."

The moment these words of hers finished a mysterious pattern was printed in the Tribe Leader’s throat and without wasting a single more second the Fae Queen gently flung her hands as if she were throwing away trash.

Boooommm!

Hansel was thrown back to his own tribe’s area like a cannonball through that small gap in the barrier and the gap closed itself in the next moments. Because of the powerful impact of force, he was thrown, he crashed into the ground his injured state became even worse, and he simply lost consciousness.

Valtar awoke from the memory and sighed. A flash of sadness appeared in his eyes but disappeared in the next moments. If it’s an important memory, it seems to be centered around their biggest tragedies.

For a moment his mind wandered back to Elmyra, his eyes narrowed. He could not help but notice a discrepancy. In every other memory when he saw her after a certain age, that familiar feeling of immense sadness would take over him. But in this memory not once did he feel any of that sadness, or to be precise it almost felt like they were... They were different persons?

His eyes widened as if he caught onto something but the next moment he let out a sigh and disregarded it.

Now the most important information here was the Fae folks, and their abilities. Truly monstrous beings, he had to admit it. To be precise the reason they are so dangerous is because of their immense versatility. How can all of them have so many specializations? Even in the True Darkness they almost killed Hansel despite being caught off guard. Valtar also thought of another thing, the reason the 5 of those Fae were able to enter the Dark Elven tribes area.

They were allowed to enter with the Fae Queen’s permission. The entire situation was under her control from the beginning. If he’s not wrong, those 5 should be among the weakest of the Fae folks. Of course to the current him, he could kill those 5 without any suppression of the darkness no matter how versatile they may be or what boost they may have.

Dyona clearly wanted the very outcome of the Tribe leader having the emotional seal on him. Then there was the fact that Valtar saw a glimpse of the True power of the Fae queen. The her from the memory was too different from the one he met after killing Zhao, the difference was not in appearance but rather in their presence.

Valtar’s frown deepened thinking about how the Fae queen literally manhandled Hansel like he was a ragdoll or something. She’s too strong.
