Chapter 42: Lost of Hope
Chapter 42: Lost of Hope
After the First Elder used his skill Gloom Echo and thereafter knocked out 10 of the possessed Dark elves, Valtar commanded the system silently to remind him, when he is more exhausted and at the right moment when the knocked-out elves could perfectly ambush the First Elder.
While in the normal state of mind someone as intelligent as the First Elder could easily be wary of this kind of tactic, after all, anything is possible since they are under the control of the enemy. However, facing so many opponents at the same time for a longer period had dulled all his senses and tactical mind whether he liked it or not. So, even if this is a typical tactic that can be expected from your enemy, it would still work.
That is why people say, "An army of ants can kill an Elephant."
That is why the system notified him that the First Elder was on his last leg, he was able to knock down 20 dark elves by this time. He was panting heavily, and his hands and feet were shaking because of over-exertion. Especially his legs which almost had close to no strength in them, for that reason he was constantly making mistakes. Thus, a lot of injuries had accumulated on his body.
His movement technique and speed were not as efficient as before.
This was the perfect time to finish him off using the ambush.
Thus he handed over the specific right of commands to the system.
The system after doing some analysis on its own, pinpointed the correct location where the First Elder would come out after using his dark step this time and commanded all the active ones to attack that precise location at notice immediately. That’s exactly what they did, the moment their hateful enemy came out, all of them attacked at once, combining all of their prowess in a way that multiplied their battle power and had no obvious way of escape for their enemy at that moment.
Because the First Elder was almost out of stamina, his senses had become extremely dull.
One sword attack from 2nd elder was able to pass through his defenses and stab into his lower abdominal area. Zolthar let out a muffled grunt.
Arghhhhh......
He instantly pulled out the sword and put his hands on the wound in an attempt to stop the bleeding.
Then used his Dark steps movement again. But before he could escape, two pairs of hands that belonged to the elves who should have already been knocked out and unable to move, grabbed his legs tightly out of nowhere. Abruptly stopping his movement technique.
He realized to his horror that he had forgotten to keep an eye on the knocked-out ones, he was indeed expecting such a thing to happen. However, in such an intense battle, there was only so much he could focus on. He was about to slash at the hands with his sword intending to cut the hands if necessary.
Yet another pair of hands came from the back and stopped his hand which was about to attack with the sword, then another came and another and another. His arms and legs were stopped by the hands of all the elves who were supposed to be knocked out.
But what does it exactly mean to knock them out? While the Dark Elves may be humanoid in body structure, their anatomy is far different.
A human can be knocked out by a moderately powerful blow at the back of their head. On the other hand, because of the different anatomy of the Dark elves, they are knocked out by putting a specific amount of pressure right on the middle of their chest area, and not many people know of this technique or the secret of their anatomy either.
Only the 3rd stage awakened elders and the Tribe Leader himself who know of this and can use it in battle if necessary. While this is something quite easy for both First Elder and Tribe leader to do, it is when facing 1-3 opponents. Not when 1 person is facing 28-36 opponents.
Now what is important to know about this technique is that it is close to impossible for a dark elf to wake up within 1 day after being knocked out via this method. So, even when there was a possibility of this happening he automatically thought that they could not get up faster than an hour even in the worst-case scenario.
Thus that became the root of his downfall perhaps. Zolthar struggled desperately but those hands that grabbed him were as tough as iron chains despite being human bone and flesh because the possessed ones only know to follow orders, they do not know pain, they do not know exhaustion, they do not know fear, or any other emotions per se.
Just when he was about to use his Gloom Echo ability again to escape, one of them kicked him in the gut with a lot of force, which made him cough up a mouthful of blood and stop the scream.
Every single arm that grabbed onto his body tightened its grip to an inhumane level that Zolthar himself almost felt like his bones would be crushed if the grip is tightened any further.
Then slowly from behind the possessed 2nd elder came in front of him, he forcefully took away his sword from his hand. The 2nd elder looked into the eyes of the First Elder Zolthar and smiled deviously.
Then he made a stabbing motion with his sword and.....
Thud... crunch... gurgle... splatter!
The possessed 2nd Elder stabbed the sword right into the Heart of the First Elder as the light in his eyes dimmed, he muttered something incomprehensible in his last moments which no one understood or cared about, and two small drops of tears slid down his face while looking at the distance towards his friend one last time. Just when his soul was about to be completely gone another 3rd stage ghost rushed into his body so that it could take possession.
Shudder....Tremble.......
Zolthar’s body shuddered and trembled for a moment in defiance of another being controlling his body like a puppet, a few seconds passed in silence his eyes closed, then both eyes abruptly opened and they both started glowing red for a moment, a blood-red pattern appeared on his eyes.
A symbol of his body being already possessed by a ghost.
-----------------------------
Valtar right after snatching away the sword of Hansel -
He smirked while gazing deep into the eyes of the Tribe Leader and stated in his mind in an insidious tone, ’Let’s see how well you fare when your closest and most trusted friend turns against you, ready to take your life.’
He looked to the other side and seeing the deed was complete he nodded internally,
then without wasting a single more second he dashed forward and kicked with enough force to land his enemy, in the exact position he wanted him to be in.
Booooooooooooommmmmmmm!
An underground explosion occurred at the point of collision that sent Hansel flying right at the other side of the underground hall, only 2 meters away from where the possessed First Elder was standing. Hansel put up both of his arms right before the kick landed on him flat in the chest, and the bones in his both arms cracked. He didn’t even have the opportunity to scream. He was thrown so far like a ragdoll he barely regained his balance amidst the pain of the cracked bones on his arms. Regardless he still stood up as fast as he could and stared back at the human.
Surprisingly the human did not run after him to continue his ruthless assault rather, he went backward and slowly sat on the Tribe Leader’s seat in an extremely arrogant manner, he put one of his legs above the other. With a mocking smile, his lips moved strangely as if he was saying something, Normally he should not have understood what he was trying to say or the intent he conveyed, yet he understood unilaterally for some unknown reason, word by word.
"Look back you fool."
He instinctively felt his fear and anxiety reaching the extreme point, ’No, no, no, It can’t be. Of course not, that simply cannot be.’
Yet he still looked back without even knowing. A sigh of great relief escaped from his mouth, seeing his friend still standing but there he was overcome with confusion and looked back at the human again. The human was still wearing a mocking smile and did not say anything this time.
Hansel looked towards his friend again, because of his over-stressed mental fatigue he did not notice all the incongruities. First Elder was standing beside all the other possessed ones, they did not attack him and only kept standing. There was a large stabbing wound on his chest area which seemed to be slightly healed and not leaking blood anymore. His eyes were glowing blood red as a similar red pattern appeared on his eyes similar to the other possessed elves.
The moment the gravity of the situation sank into his mind something within him died, as he began laughing in despair,
"Hahahahaaaahahahhaha ahahahahhahahah"
He ran right in the opposite direction where the human was sitting on his tribal seat,
He shouted with all his power, "I WILL KILL YOU.........HUMAN,,,,,,,"
When he ran, not more than crossing 10 meters, another person overran him and stopped right in front of him. Hansel had no choice but to stop in his tracks and he gritted his teeth and clenched his fists so hard that blood was coming out of his hands.
He made some motion to evade the First Elder and ran forward at the human, he was determined to kill the human even if it meant dying alongside his enemy. But it was futile, the First Elder stood in front of him again, and this time he attacked.
All the possessed ones also came right beside them and surrounded both beings in a circular format.
As if it was an arena and there were 2 fighters in the middle and only one would come out alive from the confrontation.
