Chapter 83: Chapter 63 Young King Worm

Seeing Wang Jixuan and Uncle Tai standing on either side of the gate in the surveillance footage,

Major Lingtong felt relatively at ease.

Although she rarely saw Uncle Tai active outside, he had always been considered mature and steady. With this senior mechanic present, the situation likely wouldn’t get too tense.

In front of the supply station gate.

Uncle Tai stood there with his hands on his hips, displaying the excellent expression of an ’I’m a Level 5 Citizen and a senior talent of the military, what are you nobodies to me?’

Wang Jixuan flashed an array of high explosive hand grenades, aiming his gun at the numerous figures in front of him, looking as if he was ready to open fire at any disagreement.

No need to say "as if," he had already opened fire.

There was a crater in the ground.

The gunfire attracted attention from all around, with at least a hundred men and women in military uniforms watching from near and far, eyeing the spiritual ability users who had intruded into the military camp with unfriendly faces.

The spiritual ability users had varied reactions, most looking fierce and formidable, while a few showed signs of timidity.

The leader among the spiritual ability users took out a communication device with a fixed screen that showed the half-body image of Qin Qin in its palm-sized mirror.

This researcher, dressed in a professional suit, sat behind an office desk, tiredly massaging her temples.

"Junior Mechanic Wang Zheng? I thought Major Lingtong would come out," she said.

Qin Qin spoke with a helpless expression on her face,

"I want to ask, have you decided to operate solo, cutting off all ties with Thirteen? Is that so?

"What’s the point of us being stationed at Fortress 76 then?"

Just as Wang Jixuan was about to speak and firmly retort ’That’s right,’ he heard a sneer coming from beside him.

"Tsk!"

Uncle Tai raised his voice, launching into a tirade,

"Since when do we, the Battle Girl team, need to report to you of Thirteen? Are we giving you too much face?"

One of the spiritual ability users angrily said, "Old man, mind your language!"

"What, want to fight? Major Lingtong is right inside!"

Uncle Tai shouted with eyes wide,

"I’ve seen General Level Blade Beasts! Afraid of you soft eggs produced by Blade Beast energy?

"Have the guts to fight Blade Beasts on the frontline instead of acting tough here!

"Putting on airs as if you’re here to accuse us, what, Thirteen’s Spiritual Ability Users want to bully the future pilots of Horror Mecha? Let everyone come judge! Bring your rocket launchers to judge!"

Wang Jixuan turned to look at Uncle Tai.

Not that he hadn’t noticed it before, but when had Uncle Tai... had this side to him...

Importantly, there really were quite a few soldiers around, shouldering their weapons and eagerly eyeing the group of spiritual ability users.

In the video, Qin Qin took a deep breath, her collar shaking due to the motion of the area below, looking extremely intimidating.

She struggled to suppress her emotions.

"Good, I’ll take this response as Major Lingtong’s view. From now on, whatever happens in the expansion of Zone C has nothing to do with us at Thirteen!

"I have another question, and after that, I’ll let them leave.

"There’s a discrepancy between the number of Blade Beasts we’ve killed and the number of Crystal Cores we’ve received; you’re illegally collecting Crystal Cores!"

Uncle Tai frowned and said, "Crystal Cores? I have no idea about that! It has nothing to do with our Battle Girl team! It must be your own people embezzling! Besides you trash, who else would need that stuff!"

Wang Jixuan spoke slowly, "Previously, there was a Telekinesis Spiritual Ability User called Lv Dongjie who seemed to be controlled by a Blade Beast. Major Lingtong has already prepared a report for the Commander about how Spiritual Ability Users are highly susceptible to having their thoughts infested by Blade Beasts."

Qin Qin’s gaze immediately sharpened, staring fixedly at Wang Jixuan.

Wang Jixuan chuckled inwardly.

Based on her reaction alone, Daoist could already confirm a lot of things.

Without saying much more, Qin Qin simply said, "Our side is now aware of your stance. From here on, take care of yourselves."

Whoosh!

The screen went off.

The group of spiritual ability users glared fiercely at Uncle Tai and Wang Jixuan.

Uncle Tai stood defiantly with a hand on his hip, "What are you looking at! If you’ve got the guts, do something! If not, scram!"

The spiritual ability users turned their heads, got into the vehicle, and quickly fled.

Jeers and whistles rang out from the surrounding crowd.

"Damn, a bunch of idiots!"

Uncle Tai spat, then turned towards Wang Jixuan, flashing a friendly smile.

"Xiao Wang, let’s head back," he said.

"Sure," Wang Jixuan commended quietly, "Uncle Tai, you have quite a strong presence when you scold people."

"Want to learn? I can teach you!"

Uncle Tai laughed lasciviously, imparting his heartfelt lessons to the young student Xiao Wang,

"Generally speaking, people with real skill are more hot-tempered. If you’re too easy-going, they’ll take you for someone weak, someone who can be bullied, so a mechanic ought to be a bit brash at times.

"Spiritual Ability Users and us are not even in the same system.

"If it were a front-line officer, you’d see how I’d act the part of a good grandchild!"

Wang Jixuan chuckled without a word.

The two returned to the room to disarm, activating the alarm and the trigger-based shield.

Major Lingtong, having already equipped her right mechanical arm, was waiting at the door of her room for Wang Jixuan.

"Wang Zheng, let’s talk business," she said.

"Here I am!"

Wang Jixuan marched briskly into her room alongside Major Lingtong.

Next to the operating table, Ms. Wan glared darkly at Uncle Tai.

Uncle Tai rubbed his large hands together with a sheepish grin, whispering, "Wifey, those Spiritual Ability Users were too much, Xiao Wang isn’t one for cursing. If I didn’t speak up, he might’ve just punched them right there. I was just trying to de-escalate the situation to an appropriate degree."

"Get to work!" she commanded.

"No problem," Uncle Tai replied.

Uncle Tai’s status in the family was definitely unyielding.

...

Wang Jixuan sat on the edge of Major Lingtong’s bed.

Major Lingtong’s fingers danced nimbly in front of a projected screen, pulling up several photos bearing the ’Confidential’ marker.

"Is this the vertical pupil you saw?" she asked.

"Yes," he confirmed.

"Where did you see it?" she asked.
