He walked to the emergency exit before picking up the phone. The moment he put the phone to his ear, a woman’s gentle voice came from the receiver.

"Brother Zhexuan, why did it take you so long to answer my call? Are you busy?" she asked with a hint of complaint.

"Xiayan, why did you call me suddenly? Did something happen?" he asked with a frown.

"If nothing happens, I can’t call you? I just miss you."

Feng Zhexuan pinched the bridge of his nose, sighed, and said, "Xiayan, I’m very busy. If there’s nothing else, I will hang up."

"Brother Zhexuan, I finally found free time to call you. But, you still couldn’t wait to hang up. After so many years of separation, do you no longer care about me?" Xing Xiayan asked sadly.

"You think too much."

"Then can you just say you miss me?" she asked.

For an unknown reason, Feng Zhexuan would have a headache every time he interacted with Xing Xiayan. Just hearing her voice gave him a headache, so he always kept his distance from her.

Although he doesn’t like her acting like both of them were in a romantic relationship, she once saved his life and he promised to take care of her in return for her life-saving grace.

"When I finish my work here, I will go back to see you," Xing Xiayan said with a smile.

"Did you hear anything just now?" he asked.

As soon as she finished speaking, she walked away quickly.

When he saw his friend frowning and following behind Yan Yuling, he knew something must have happened.

"Assistant Wei, it’s getting late. You and Mr. Feng should leave first," she added.

This time, she asked them to leave without giving them a chance to refuse.

Feng Zhexuan, who was standing behind her, looked at Gu Jianci gloomily and said, "What you heard just now is not what you thought. I will call you later."
