Lifespan Extraction: I Ascend As The Immortal Beast Tamer -
Chapter 57: Our Savior!
Chapter 57: Our Savior!
For millions of miles on end, forever altering the topography of the Blazing Sun Sect, there now lay a chasm. It had depths of hundreds of thousands of miles, with molten lava spewing out of the bottomless abyss of darkness it opened up.
The Oldest Demon King had been alive for nearly 10,000 years, having seen more than any mortal could deign to imagine. And yet, even then, nothing held a candle to the sheer destructive power that this endless chasm represented.
"To attain this degree of proficiency in the Dao of the Sword..." Demon King Wang mumbled in disbelief. "Is this what a real genius looks like...?"
As for the fate of the juiced-up Demon King that faced Zar with literally everything he had:
"Cough! Cough!" With 75% of his body charred beyond recognition, and another 20% missing, Demon King Cho stopped biting down on his lips so hard. "W-What was even the point...?"
His anger had all but transformed into grievances that would never be quelled. He listlessly stared up at the twinkling stars in the night sky, wondering where exactly he had gone so wrong in his long, long life.
He had done many terrible things to acquire more power. From betraying his Sect Brothers to stealing resources from his Elders, he did whatever was necessary to climb the ladder that was the Immortal World of Cultivation.
"No... None of that I regret, for I had to do it," muttered Demon King Cho, coughing up even more black blood.
He was dying.
And was doing so in the presence of an unblemished Immortal of the Sword standing over him with his hands folded.
"What I regret..."
He turned his head toward Zar, his eyes dimming.
"Is meeting you..."
The last of the light in his eyes faded, with his Nascent Soul and Primordial Soul disintegrating and drifting into the wind.
"...."
For a few seconds, Zar simply stared at the rapidly disappearing corpse, seemingly lost in thought.
But then came the dings of the System Notifications...
*Ding!*
[You slayed a 6th Layer Origin Infant Realm Demon King, from which you seized 695 years of Lifespan!]
Although Zar had a pensive air about him, he still had a few more pests to clean up. Raising his right hand, he ascended thousands of miles, all while conjuring smaller projections of Sword Aura. They hovered around him, spinning at ludicrously fast speeds, each one facing a different direction.
"Go," Zar commanded as he let his arm fall. "Hunt them down. Pierce their bodies and hang them up for the entire Sect to see; make them understand pain—and the cost of running away with my Lifespan."
*Fwooop!*
The dozens of sword projections shot out, zipping through the atmosphere like blazing stars in the night sky. Many distraught Blazing Sun Disciples looked up and saw Demon Kings frantically fleeing from these shooting stars, amazement welling up within them.
"Is this the workings of a god...?" an Elite Disciple mumbled while tied up in a pile next to a bunch of other Elite Disciples. "Our Savior."
When he spoke those words, everyone else began to murmur them as well. Until eventually, shouts came from all of them as they cheered their unknown Savior on. They even did so while in the presence of powerful Demonic Faction Cultivators, who were too shellshocked by the sight of their Ancestors running to register the rebellious cheers of the captives.
Even the Demonic Faction Members currently about to enjoy themselves with the beautiful females of the Blazing Sun Sect found themselves freezing.
None of them could so much as think properly right now, let alone get their little brothers up...
In a particular Core Sect Branch Area of the Sect, one of Zar’s terrifying Sword Aura projections just about caught up to a weaker Demon King, causing him to uncontrollably panic.
"Pl-Please, don’t kill me!! I... I’ll do anything you say—...."
SHA!
A hauntingly mortifying scene unfolded as this Demon King got skewered by the Sword Aura Projection. His run-through body went sailing off his original course, ultimately crashing into a huge pagoda that served as the favorite restaurant for many in Core Sect Branch #29.
Those who had not yet been captured by the Demonic Faction Members were huddled up inside this pagoda. They thought they were safe. However, when they saw a ten-meter-tall demonic figure crash through the roof and stick to a wall with a glowing white sword lodged into him, they practically leapt out of their skins.
"W-What is going on...!?" A gorgeous female Core Disciple peered through the dust and soot, trying to understand what happened.
Her long eyelashes flickered when some of the dust cleared up.
"T-That person is...! His cultivation base!?"
The pressure being emitted by the skewered Demon King made the pretty Core Disciple feel like even the Core Elders were little more than the tiniest of ants in comparison!
Yet, most surprising of all was that someone of this caliber was desperately clinging to a potential escape route, bulging his muscles in an attempt to take out the sword in his gut. But with every move of resistance he made, the oppressive flaming aura from the sword burned his skin with even more vigor.
Shrieks of pain resounded, leaving the spectating Core Disciples and pagoda workers in a speechless stupor.
*Tap*
Just that single tap against the wooden floor of the pagoda made all those present shoot their eyes toward the one who made the sound. And that was when they saw him.
An ethereal man garbed in all black, his face unseen through his shadowy hood. One could instinctively tell that this man was handsome though. Extremely so.
Furthermore, the way he moved was as if a perfect being had inhabited his tall, suave body.
Otherworldly!
The Core Disciples could do nothing but stare in silence as this unknown ethereal figure approached the skewered Demon King with calm, calculated steps.
They then watched in astonishment as the man grabbed hold of the sword and pulled it out as if the flames lacing its edges were not capable of burning their entire Core Sect down if it so pleased...
