Lifespan Extraction: I Ascend As The Immortal Beast Tamer -
Chapter 55: Demon King’s Quiver
Chapter 55: Demon King’s Quiver
"Just die—...!" Demon King Yang roared, his eyes engulfed by the redness of rage.
"Right back at you," Zar uttered coldly, the reflection on his blade covered by the blood of the Demon King who had just spoken. "I just wish all of you wouldn’t be so cautious as to leave your Genuine Primordial Souls or Main Bodies so far away. It’s becoming really troublesome to obtain what I’m due."
Pointing his index finger off to the side while nonchalantly deflecting attacks akin to nuclear bombs, Zar shot out a thin beam of sword light.
*Fwooop!*
FWAZOOOM!
This thin beam of sword light, upon coming into contact with anything obstructing it, caused damage that far exceeded its tiny size. Whole towering stone peaks were erased; one after the other they disappeared, taking a linear path toward a location millions of miles away.
"That bastard actually dared to kill me!? I swear I’ll spend the next one hundred thousand years cultivating in order to enact my revenge—...."
*Fwooop!*
"Huh—...!??"
Caught completely off guard, Demon King Yang didn’t even have the time to activate his life-preserving measures before he, along with his underground city, were erased from reality.
CRACKA—BOOOOOM!
A micro-contained super implosion occurred within the space where that underground city was, leaving a massive empty sphere where it used to exist.
*Ding!*
[You have slain a 3rd Layer Origin Infant Realm Demon King, from which you seized 964 years of Lifespan!]
[Your total Lifespan is rocketing, with thousands coming in every minute because of the efforts of your Named Shadow Beasts and regular Shadow Beasts!]
"Below 1000 Lifespan again..." Zar frowned, realizing that killing so many of the Demonic Ancestors resulted in terrible diminishing returns. "But I guess I’m getting a bit greedy here. I’ve already acquired more than a million years of Lifespan so far, which is certainly more than I could’ve hoped for."
RUMBLE!
"You actually dare to get distracted in a fight against so many Demon Kings!??"
A 5th Layer Origin Infant Realm Demonic Ancestor had his hands raised. Above them was a hundred-mile-wide spherical cumulation of green energy that crackled and flared with utmost lethality.
"Let’s see how listless you are after choking on this, you dumb brat!!"
WAAA—!
As the giant mass of energy—synthesized from an Earth Rank Martial Skill—plummeted, the atmosphere burned up. Clouds reverted to mist. The sky opened up. The Laws of Space began to crack and weaken considerably.
However, even as rolling astral winds melted everything around him in its unobstructed path of destruction, Zar stood in still motion. At the top of a mountain peak he was posed, both arms folded behind his back and an impermeable blanket of Sword Aura preventing even the wind from wrinkling his robes.
Without raising his voice or sword in protest, Zar allowed himself to be engulfed by the fiery flames of the sun-like energy sphere. The earth collapsed in the next instant, followed by total annihilation of everything for tens of thousands of miles on end.
Many lives were lost because of that apocalyptic attack, many villages and cities no more. And they hadn’t even known how they died or that they died.
It was instantaneous. Painless.
Perhaps they could find solace in knowing that while observing from the world beyond the world of the living.
"Ha! That fool!" The 5th Layer Origin Infant Realm Demon King shouted with a mocking voice. "Did he actually believe he was some main character in a book or something?? This is why youngsters are so easy to take advantage of; dumb and naive!"
The expressions of the other Demon Kings didn’t know whether they should be happy or sad. Roughly half of their comrades had permanently died to the blade of that devil, with all of their Sects having taken huge hits due to the weeding of millions of their Disciples.
"Is he really dead though...?" One of the newly ascended Demon Kings questioned with a skeptical gleam, his slitted goatish eyes glued to the aftermath of the all-out attack from a senior. "He was so overwhelmingly powerful that it didn’t seem like anything could take him down..."
"Just take the win, lad from Vermillion Poisons Sect!" An older Demon King of the 4th Layer Origin Infant Realm heartily laughed, his cruel heart already imagining all the different ways he’d cut up and research the corpse of the fallen Blazing Sun Sect genius. "Even I never expected there to be a prodigal kiddo like that to be here, what with our close physical exchanges revealing him to be under a thousand years old! But what use is being a genius if you’re dead!? I’m probably not even half as talented, yet I’ve lived more than five times as long—..."
Suddenly!
WHOOOOSH!
The smoke and debris produced by that catastrophic attack was blown away, taking with it the grass and trees off the sides of an untold number of mountains and hills. Then, from within a huge crater that had borders placed further away from one another than a large asteroid, a tiny shadowy silhouette appeared.
"No way...."
"Even after all that, the little brat is still alive!?"
"How is this possible!??"
"Even a 9th Layer Origin Infant Realm Cultivator wouldn’t have survived if he took that head-on! Demon King Go even burned through a substantial amount of his Lifeforce in order to make it so powerful!!"
The Oldest Demon King, Demon King Wang, that came for the Raid felt a foreboding feeling while looking at the barely discernible silhouette. It was a feeling extremely foreign to him—one that he couldn’t remember when last he felt something similar.
The aura Zar was emitting was so casual, so laid-back, yet was at the same time scary enough to strike fear in the most iron-willed of men. To the Oldest Demon King and the others, they might as well have been staring straight into an unfathomable Abyss.
It was this that sprouted the notion of them actually losing what should’ve been an easy battle. This subsequently brought about an innate fear of losing the lives that they spent thousands of years improving their strength in.
From this fear, desperation was born.
WAOOOOOM!!
