Watching from the other side of the world, Zar saw the remnants of the Main Floating Island of the Vile Flame Sect plummet from above. A rainfall of debris and lava wreaked complete havoc on the rest of the Floating Islands and those lower-rank Disciples who lived on the volcanic ground surface.

The total death count quickly skyrocketed, reaching upwards of a million in a matter of seconds.

Did Zar feel remorse?

The most direct answer was no. No, he didn’t feel even the slightest bit of remorse.

This was just the way of the world.

And for underhandedly sneak-attacking his Sect at their weakest moment, this was simply karma at play.

Just a single attack covered what he spent on upgrading his Spirit Roots — and then some!

"With that out of the way, I can begin working on the extermination of some pests who just couldn’t keep their heads down," Zar stated as he called for Albion, who appeared next to him covered in blood. "Albion, have you done what I asked of you?"

Albion yanked on a magically reinforced chain that forked off at a point and split up into hundreds of individual chains. Each of these chains was attached to a massive, terrifying Demon Beast cowering at different spots in the huge forest below. Their bodies showed signs of abuse, clearly having been dragged across the ground for who knew how long.

Briefly looking at their System Tags, Zar revealed a content smile. "You did good, Albion. All of them are of the Deity Transformation Realm, which makes me wonder where you found so many high-rank Demon Beasts... Hmm...? Is that??"

Hidden among the hundreds of beaten and chained Demon Beasts was one with a calmer-than-normal gaze. Even though it was just as injured as the rest of them, the ’beat-into-submission’ technique used by Albion didn’t seem to have had any effect on it.

Without hesitation, Zar teleported to the ground floor. Directly in front of him was the indifferent face of the White Demon Fox.

"Sorry for this," said Zar as he raised his right arm and pointed at the Demon Beast. "I promise that it’ll only sting for a second. Then you’ll be reborn as something far superior."

Seemingly understanding what he was saying, the Fox Demon Beast bowed its head. It patiently awaited its death, doing so in the most dignified way possible.

"Haiz," Zar sighed, yet still fired a thin sliver of Sword Intent from his right hand’s pointer finger. "Rest in peace for now. Soon, you shall be reborn, and with the memories you retain, you shall become a beast feared throughout the lands."

FWOISH—!

With the billowing of the wind, a System Notification appeared before Zar. It blocked his view of the nearly pristine Fox Demon corpse laying down in a graceful manner befitting the way it lived.

It was a bit costly, but Zar still paid it.

A staggeringly powerful aura immediately erupted from the Fox Demon’s corpse as dark-as-night shadows fluctuated outward. Tendrils possessing a similar shadowy aesthetic shot outward, making way for the oppressive figure emerging from the backside of the corpse.
