Chapter 49: Heaven-Severing Sword Dao Spirit Roots, Level 7 Sword Intent, Sword Domain,
Chapter 49: Heaven-Severing Sword Dao Spirit Roots, Level 7 Sword Intent, Sword Domain,
Flexing his newly formed muscles, Zar stretched in a laid-back manner. The excruciating pain from being toasted alive had all but subsided, leaving only a yearning for a good battle.
"Do make this enjoyable," said Zar as he flared his Lotus Flame at the edge of the Level 6 Intent Sword clutched in his hand. "If you can’t even do that, then you’ll never be able to beat the true version of myself."
Hei Yan had no idea what this unknown shadowy man was talking about, but realizing that things could get dangerous if this turned into a battle of endurance, he decided to end things in an instant.
FWOOOOM!
"I don’t give a sh*t who you are anymore!" he roared. "JUST DIE!!!"
Moving as an explosive blur, Hei Yan destroyed everything below and above him as he shot toward Zar like a bullet. Looming above him was a massive energy sword manifestation, possessing the terrifying might to render mountain ranges and divide whole oceans.
Indifferently staring at the insanely powerful sword manifestation blazing out of the Demon Bull man, Zar’s face froze over. And with a slow, cold exhale, he slashed out with all he had.
When the two overwhelming forces clashed in the sky, lethal doses of fiery energy rolled out in waves that undulated across the Blazing Sun Sect. Entire thousand-mile-wide plots of land collapsed under the ground, sinking to depths unknown.
"Hm?" One of the older and more powerful Demonic Ancestors briefly looked away from the Direct Elders and Elite Elders cowering on the floor beneath him. "Hei Yan is actually fighting someone that he couldn’t beat in a single attack? This..."
The Elders who were originally cowering also sensed this clash of powers, which led to hope and confidence suddenly filling their hearts.
"One of the Grand Elders must’ve stayed behind and not participated in the war! You all are so beyond f*cked now—"
SPURT!
"Shut up," said the Demonic Ancestor as he watched that Direct Elder explode into a blood mist bomb and die on the spot. "Even if a Grand Elder is here, he’ll die all the same. Nothing will prevent the rise of our Demonic Factions. Now then..."
"!!!" "!!!" "!!!"
His deathly gaze filled the Direct Elders with immense fear.
"Where are you keeping all the treasures in this Direct Sect? Speak now, and I might just spare your lives."
He wouldn’t. And they knew that.
But what other choice did they have in this situation...?
Even if a Grand Elder was here, there was only one of them. What difference would that make when there were more than a hundred Origin Infant Realm Demon King Rank Demonic Faction Ancestors jointly attacking their Sect?
It was naive to believe that anything other than total annihilation would be the final outcome of this apocalyptic event...
— Meanwhile, millions of miles away, on the other side of the Blazing Sun Sect —
"DIE!! DIE, DIE, DIE, JUST DIE!!!!!"
SHA! SHA! SHA!
Time and time again, Zar was reduced to atoms. Yet each and every time, he would come back to life and attack with even more ferocity. Furthermore, he only seemed to be becoming stronger, with his techniques and control over the Dao of the Sword increasing with every passing nanosecond.
And finally, just as Hei Yan slashed down with everything he had, planning to destroy the annoying cockroach-like existence once and for all — time froze.
SHWING—!
An unbelievable amount of Sword Intent blasted out from Zar, quickly expanding to cover everything within a ten-thousand-mile radius.
"S-Sword Domain!?" Hei Yan shouted with his mouth agape, his all-out attack dissipating in the same second. "To have something like this, your Sword Intent needs to be at least Level 7...!!"
Zar’s eyes opened, with this action causing a sharp sword intent to radiate from his icy blue gaze.
[You have successfully invested 60,000 years of Lifespan into the evolution of your ’Heavenly Essence Spirit Roots’]
[Heavenly Essence Spirit Roots (Perfect) → Heaven-Severing Sword Dao Spirit Roots (Inferior)]
[Your (Heavenly) Rank Spirit Roots have evolved into (Saint) Rank Spirit Roots!]
[Sword Intent (Lvl 6) → (Lvl 7)]
[Acquired ’Sword Domain’ — capable of forcing everyone within a specified, relevant distance to sing to your tune and fear for their lives under the supreme might of the Dao of the Sword. (Evolves alongside evolution of Sword Intent)]
"A Sword Domain, huh," Zar said nonchalantly as he felt the pain from spending so much lifespan fade away a little because of this. "I’m getting many tens of thousands of years of lifespan from my Shadow Beasts because of this little event, so perhaps I’ll invest even more of it into my Spirit Roots later."
"What are you mumbling about over there, you scamming coward!?" Hei Yan furiously bellowed. "Do you think it’s so easy to pull wool over my eyes — to play me for a fool and get away with it!?? Go all out! Stop hiding your strength!!"
Clearly, the Demonic Ancestor’s pride had been damaged.
"You wish for me to go all out?" asked Zar as he hyper-condensed his Level 1 Sword Domain to that of a few thousand meters, effectively improving its single-target efficiency by a thousand. "Fine then, I’ll stop holding back."
RUMBLE!
"!!!"
’This power...!?’
Getting into a stance akin to a drawn-back bow, Zar reeled back his black Treasure Sword. It melted the longer it stayed within his grasp, but without caring about the loss of an Earth-rank weapon, steam seeped out of his mouth.
Then he—
*Fwooop!*
Vanished!
"Where did he g—...."
OOOOM!
In an instant, and without any hope of resistance, Hei Yan was cleaved in two. His body. His golden core. His Nascent Soul.
Everything besides his Primordial Soul had been shredded to oblivion.
And the only reason it was still intact was because, like Zar, this particular Demonic Ancestor kept his Genuine Primordial Soul outside his body. It was safely hiding away inside the Vile Flame Sect.
And though it just now opened its eyes and bellowed out in anger, it wasn’t daring enough to leave the Sect and hunt down Zar. After all, in the World of Immortal Cultivation, the value of one’s Genuine Primordial Soul far outweighed that of one’s body.
Everything from memories to cultivation base could be stored within your Genuine Primordial Soul, meaning that you could always start over as long as you had the necessary resources.
Which, for an Ancestor of a 1st-rate Sect like the Vile Flame Sect, was as simple as a snap of his fingers.
"It’s just unfortunate that you met me."
