Chapter 47: I Suppose You’ll Never Know...

"Who in the hell are you!?"

"You dare act so nonchalant when facing us!? Truly courting death!"

"You think you’re some bigshot or something!? You’re only of the Half-step Core Formation Realm! Our Boss is way stronger than you!!"

The Boss in question was brimming with confidence and arrogance as he stared down at the lone man blocking their way.

"I don’t know who you are, little twirp, but if you get in the way of us destroying this Trial Branch Sect, then you have another thing coming," he threatened, becoming ever more annoyed the longer he had to look at Zar’s stupidly handsome face. "Out of respect for your cultivation, it would be in your best interest to get a move on and ignore what you’re about to see."

"And you’ll allow me to live?"

The Devil Horn Squad Boss smirked evilly, realizing that the man before him was just a pretty face. A coward. Trash.

And trash was only meant to be taken advantage of.

"Sure, you’ll live—"

SHA!

"—on in the afterlife!!"

Li Fengyun loved weak, feeble prey the most!

Cowardly weaklings were always the most fun to toy with—

SHING!

"Huh—...."

SPLAT!

Without even being able to complete his violent charge, Li Fengyun found his vision spinning. And then he briefly caught a glimpse of his body exploding like a popped balloon of blood before fear twisted his expression, accompanying him into the underworld.

"Y-You... You killed the Boss!?"

The originally pompous Devil Horn Sect Cultivators instantly had all the color drained from their faces. And when Zar’s deathly gaze darted over to them, even larger amounts of terror filled their hearts.

"The Senior Immortal, he... he’s so powerful..."

It wasn’t just the Trial Elders watching from above the Arena that were stunned into amazement, for the thousands of citizens and lower-level Cultivators were also staring at this scene with widened eyes. The girls, in particular, were swooning over the dashing visage poised below them.

Not only handsome, but also crazy strong!?

Was he really just a regular Outer Disciple!??

This was something that both the Trial Elders and Devil Horn Sect Cultivators thought as they stared at Zar with varying emotions filtering through their faces.

However, after understanding that escape was hardly an option given the circumstances, the Devil Horn Sect Cultivators buried their fear. They then coped with the chance that they could overcome such a formidable adversary with their overwhelming numbers.

1 against 30, all with similar cultivations—the outcome was clear!

And yet...

SHING!

"N-No, please spare my lif—....."

SPURT!

Without even needing to summon any of his Shadow Beasts, Zar single-handedly slaughtered the whole group of Devil Horn Sect Cultivators. And as he emotionlessly swiped the blood off his blackened blade while listening to the ringing System Notifications, cheers resounded around him.

"You’re so cool, Senior Immortal!!"

"Please bear my children~!!"

"Thank you for saving us! Can I have your autograph...!?"

Acting oblivious to the ravings of the masses, Zar calmly approached Xue Qing. He then stretched out a hand. "Are you ready to go, my Lady?"

"Hum?" Prime Xue Qing showed a satisfied smile. "I wouldn’t have expected this from you, but I guess you really are a gentleman," she said as she took his hand and accepted the wrapping of his left arm around her waist as they flew up together. "Your hand placement is very respectful as well. You definitely know how to treat a woman."

’Huh...?’ Zar thought. ’But this is just the way Hua Ling had me carry her whenever she requested to be flown around after giving some random excuse explaining why she couldn’t fly by herself...’

While leaving the scene in a perplexed state, he gave some parting words to those gathered below. "I’ll be taking Disciple Xue Qing back to my Medicine Valley. As for the attacking fiendish cultivators, I’ve already set up a perimeter to ensure the safety of your Trial Branch Sect. None will get through it."

"A perimeter?" One of the Trial Elders wondered as he expanded his Divine Sense.

However, even with his Foundation Establishment Realm cultivation base, he found no signs of any reinforcements...

The methods of the Senior Immortal must just be too profound!

And the Trial Elder would be correct, for not just anybody could sense the three Deity Transformation Realm Shadow Beasts that Zar placed around the Trial Sect. They blended in with the shadows cast by trees and mountains, hiding their titanic bodies in plain sight.

"Hey, Mr. Senior Immortal," Prime Xue Qing said sarcastically. "Why is it that your identity is but that of a mere Outer Disciple? Also, why does your bone age not give me an approximation anymore? Are you trying to hide the fact that you’re actually over a thousand years old??"

Zar bemused. "I like to stay low-key, and that should answer your second question as well," he explained. "If you were able to guess that close to my actual age, then I wasn’t concealing myself well enough, so I changed things up. I hope it doesn’t offend."

Prime Xue Qing’s expression contorted a bit in annoyance; she hated fellas like these the most. The reclusive, anti-fame kind that are never capable of keeping up with the outgoing geniuses because they hide so much of their worth from those who could provide better resources.

"Everyone always thinks they can do it by themselves with no external influence until it really comes down to it," she rolled her eyes. "It makes me want to retract my guess of you being under a thousand years old. More likely, you’re thousands of years old, aren’t you, brat?"

"Who can say for sure," Zar replied mysteriously. "I suppose you’ll never know."

Prime Xue Qing’s cheeks filled with air as she suddenly felt the urge to punch him in that punchable face of his.

Calming down, she harrumphed while saying, "You’re lucky this queen is feeling kind, else I would’ve beaten you up real good."

Observing her smug face, Zar decided to let her revel in her overconfidence. They both transformed into a streak of bright light that zipped into the horizon, doing so while the crack in the Sect Barrier finally got large enough to fully shatter.

Flames and destruction then wreaked havoc across millions of miles of the Blazing Sun Sect’s Outer Expanse Territory as millions of Demonic Faction Cultivators descended.
