Just keep him distracted, and maybe direct him toward the nearest brothel. He needs the services they provide...’

They were all like Lei Mei and Wang Fang, for they were stationed here by the Outer Sect after the Council of Outer Elders learned of the appearance of another mostly vacant Medicine Valley.

They would usually not care about something like that, but this Medicine Valley was special, for it was personally overseen by Core Elder Ye Xuan. In their eyes, he was akin to a God, and as such, the value placed on ’Carefree Medicine Valley’ was many times greater than even the Medicine Valleys owned by Nascent Soul Realm Disciples.

In fact, in this Branch’s Outer Sect, Valley Master Zar and his Medicine Valley had garnered themselves quite the reputation. Outer Disciples, Inner Disciples, and Outer Deacons from all over often visited him to give their congratulations. It was to the point that harvesting the Spiritual Roots and sending them to Core Elder Ye Xuan as repayment for his help was nearly as lucrative as having his Shadow Beasts slaughtering every Demon Beast in sight!

"That’s good to hear, Junior Brother Zar," replied Hua Ling as her smile grew warmer when she realized that they were now walking side-by-side in the same direction like a couple. "I couldn’t believe it when I heard it, but you actually obtained the favor of a Core Elder. What’s that like, I wonder?"

The question was asked very casually, but it made Zar look back and recall every single one of his interactions with Core Elder Ye Xuan. And except for a ton of buttering up to him to stay connected to Mei Yue, not much could be said about their relationship.

Without his ties to Mei Yue—who often came to visit—Core Elder Ye Xuan likely wouldn’t consider him as any more than a pebble on the roadside. Unremarkable and invisible.

Just how Zar liked it.

"What about you, Senior Sister?" He asked to change the subject. "What has happened with that stalker young Master who wishes to take you as his bride?"

His joke urged a soft giggle from Hua Ling.

Her mood became a bit glum at the thought of that pompous young Master getting powerful enough to be even more pompous. It was also highly possible that he’d begin taking his advances on girls like Hua Ling a step further.
