Chapter 1239: Chapter 1239: The Arrogant of the Old Heaven (Long Chapter Requesting Monthly Tickets)

"There’s no need to degrade yourself like this, my friend,"

Dick stared at He Ao. "It seems I have no choice but to kill you."

He took a step forward, and his figure abruptly vanished.

He Ao lifted his gaze toward the man before him, letting out a soft sigh as he raised his sword forward.

Back in Ronald’s Copy World, He Ao had already studied Dick’s general information.

According to public records, Dick was born into a Dawn City congressman’s family, achieved fame early on, and mingled regularly with big shots from Dawn City or even across the entire Federation.

Relying on family resources and his innate talents, he faced little hardship and smoothly ascended to B-level, eventually becoming Dawn City’s City Defense Officer for multiple terms, establishing himself as a mainstay in Dawn City politics.

Dick was no fool. On the contrary, he was remarkably gifted and brilliant; otherwise, he wouldn’t have achieved his current position.

Yet he likely believed deeply that ’maintaining the status quo’ was good enough.

His rise, his achievements, his life’s work—all were derived from the ’status quo.’

Surging battle flames formed a massive encircling ring, trapping several figures within its fiery grasp.

This time, Dick didn’t use Miracle Magic again. Instead, he engaged in a direct contest of strength with He Ao.

Every use of Miracle Magic drained the user’s energy. He Ao might treat Miracle Magic as just another technique, but for Dick, that clearly wasn’t the case.

After a few previous uses of Miracle Magic failed to yield significant results—and after He Ao even destroyed one of his props—Dick had evidently abandoned the idea of frequent Miracle Magic usage.

Bang! Bang! Bang!—

Amid flashes of brilliance, in just an instant, the blades and swords clashed countless times.

The already broken ground was utterly pulverized by the residual force of their battle. Looking around, one could only see fragments of stone no bigger than a fingertip, and most of it had been ground into sand-like debris.

Larger chunks of cement and cobblestones had shattered, and the destruction extended downward with visible depth, shaking the foundations of this towering city structure.

Meanwhile, after several exchanges, a few nearby C-level fighters finally closed in.

Even though they pushed themselves to the limit, they still couldn’t keep up with the speed of He Ao and Dick.

However, it seemed this wasn’t their first time working with Dick to take on a B-level powerhouse. The moment they arrived, Dick adjusted his combat style, creating a slight gap between himself and He Ao.

Almost simultaneously, the attacks of the five C-level fighters arrived. They brandished their thin blades, thrusting at He Ao from all directions.

At that moment, the synergy between Dick and his five subordinates made them appear as a single entity—a monstrous form of Dick extending five arms from the void, all stabbing at He Ao.

The five blades sealed off He Ao’s movement, making it nearly impossible for him to evade. At the same time, Dick’s next move had already materialized, a direct thrust toward He Ao’s heart.

He Ao raised his alloy sword and took in the scene around him.

Heavy strike!

Blood instantly seeped from beneath his skin. Even with the healing powers of Life’s Grace, the overwhelming force surging within his body pushed it to its limits.

But He Ao had no time to hesitate. His attack didn’t target Dick—instead, he turned and slashed mercilessly to the right.

The two C-level fighters on the right had no time to react and were cleaved in half by He Ao in a single stroke.

Meanwhile, the remaining three C-levels’ blades and Dick’s attack reached He Ao’s side.

Amid the entangling weapons, He Ao’s body slid past the two C-level corpses he had just slain, escaping to the right and widening the distance once more.

He Ao looked down briefly at the bloodstains on his body.

He had narrowly avoided Dick’s strike and the attack from the C-level fighter at his back, but he couldn’t escape the strikes from the left. One blade sliced through his coat, leaving a wound at his waist; another sliced across his left thigh, leaving a gash 30 to 40 centimeters long.

However, as he observed, the flesh and muscle around those wounds began writhing, merging back together at a speed visible to the naked eye.

This was the power of Life’s Grace.

Life’s Grace required slaughter and sacrifice. If it were Pete’s original version of Life’s Grace, the conversion would have been instantaneous—the moment an enemy was killed, Life’s Grace would convert them into energy immediately.

But the version linked to his Character Card had a maximum conversion efficiency and was not instantaneous. Instead, it converted at this fixed maximum rate over time.

The good news was that once He Ao completed a kill, the sacrificial process would begin, continuing even if he left the enemy’s corpse. The conversion would persist until the enemy had been entirely assimilated.

By now, He Ao had killed one C-level earlier and two more just now—enough to ’charge’ Life’s Grace for a while.

To be honest, this ability, named with such sanctimonious terms as ’Life’ and ’Grace,’ felt far more sinister than most transcendent props he’d encountered.

But having been immersed in the mysterious world for so long, He Ao had grown accustomed to it.

He raised his head to look at Dick and the others ahead of him.

The three surviving C-level fighters had stopped. They glanced at the two corpses on the ground, glaring at He Ao with eyes full of rage and grief.

Clearly, this team shared more than a simple companion relationship.

This level of coordination wasn’t something you achieved overnight.

Dick also fell silent, staring at He Ao. His gaze flicked to He Ao’s wounds. "The power of the Life Church... Yet you don’t seem like an Evil God’s believer.

"Your body is weak, but your strength is immense. This power is not your own—it’s some kind of ’Grace,’ isn’t it?"

He raised his massive blade. "No wonder you seem so young yet so powerful. You must be part of some secret organization. Who are you, really? Whose power are you borrowing?"

He Ao didn’t answer. He merely tightened his grip on the alloy sword in his hand—a weapon that was, at best, at a standard C-level.

In the earlier clashes, despite being reinforced with Divine Sense, the blade had already accumulated tiny cracks.

He Ao studied Dick, noting through his Divine Sense countless streams of energy converging within Dick’s body.

Dick wasn’t an Evil God believer, but his physical fitness was exceptional.

He Ao estimated it to be around 3,600 points, capable of nearing 4,000 during bursts of exertion.

This was the first time He Ao had seen such high data on a ’human Transcendent.’

Even for a combat-oriented Spirit Extractor, possibly with strength-enhancing abilities, this figure was absurdly high.

For comparison, an ordinary combat-focused B-level barely exceeded 2,000.

He Ao’s Super Memory gave him an increase to 3,410.

This meant Dick, like He Ao, wielded an exceptional mastery over his prerequisite Talent Sequences, performing the rituals perfectly. If not at He Ao’s level, he wasn’t far behind.

This was a true prodigy of humanity.

That’s how he managed to hold the position of Dawn City’s Minister of City Defense for so many years.

"Your combat technique is exceptional, and you’re so young. Your future achievements will surely exceed what you are right now,"

Dick said as he gazed at He Ao, clearly aware of his opponent’s calculating gaze. Letting out a quiet sigh, he added, "A pity. The blade knows no mercy. When your grave is built, I’ll come to pay my respects."

Raising his massive sword, he declared loudly, "Cover me."

Countless intricate engravings glimmered across the blade, and the surrounding space distorted like boiling water, trembling violently in an instant.

Boom! Boom! Boom!—

The artillery shells overhead exploded under the distortions, while the mechas in the sky appeared disoriented, swaying wildly like waterborne reeds.

The surrounding bright lights flickered visibly, and amidst the dark night, the array of lightning-like engravings on Dick’s sword illuminated, spilling streams of lightning energy from its edges.

At the same time, forces from the trembling void flowed into Dick’s body like streams. A suffocating, terrifying momentum was building within him.

In this moment, the three remaining C-level fighters didn’t hesitate. Fixating on He Ao, they lifted their blades and charged at him, unflinching and undaunted.

He Ao gazed at the advancing trio, remaining silent for a moment before lifting his alloy sword.

His figure blinked forward, appearing instantly in front of the first attacker. Without hesitation, the tip of his sword pierced through the fighter’s heart.

Swiftly withdrawing his blade, He Ao executed a flourish before stepping forward, stabbing into the second person’s body.

But in that split second, the third fighter’s sword light, shielded by the first two, shot toward He Ao’s face.

In this moment, it seemed He Ao didn’t have enough time to pull his sword back.

A wry smile curved his lips—his expression turning savage.

He was painfully aware of the fragility of He Ao’s body; his opponent’s blade could indeed kill the terrifying foe before him.

Yet, He Ao calmly observed him, raising an empty hand. With his fingers—index and middle—he lightly pinched, then made a snapping motion.

Clang—

With a faint metallic ring, the sword light shattered into two.

Between He Ao’s fingers was the snapped blade tip, which he tilted forward and nudged ahead.

The sharp tip collided with the enemy’s delicate throat, cutting through and sparking a spray of blood, piercing his neck cleanly.

Staring dumbly at the broken blade in his hands, the fighter’s body tipped forward uncontrollably.

The faint ripple of wind brushed against his cheek alongside a long, drawn-out sigh.

Pulling back his alloy sword, He Ao stepped past the body of the third attacker. Lifting his head, he locked eyes with the towering figure of Dick, clutching his massive sword.

Dick raised his gaze, meeting He Ao’s bloodied figure. A smirk tugged at the corners of his mouth.

The holographic projector on Dick’s arm flickered weakly with electricity, clearly damaged during his earlier ’Energy Gathering.’

Dick could no longer rely on the ’Teleportation’ Miracle Magic, but he didn’t seem to care.

Leaping forward, he unleashed a burst of tremendous power, which rippled thunderously through the void surrounding them. Such was his speed that before the sound arrived, he was already in front of He Ao.

By then, He Ao had long since raised his alloy sword.

Fixing on the skyward figure closing in to strike, He Ao kept his gaze steady, watching clusters of flames erupt and scatter in the heavens.

His attention seemed to pierce through the deep night, locking onto unseen eyes beyond the darkness.

Those ’gazes’ fell upon both Dick and He Ao.

The crumbling order, the former elites, the eyes of those who had once ruled from thrones, now stared imperiously down upon them.

Once more, a tide of blood seeped out from beneath He Ao’s skin, painting his body crimson.

Fist Technique Enhancement.

Heavy Strike.

Clang—

As sword and blade collided, the massive shockwave erupted across the desolate ruins, rattling the decrepit high-rises on either side, long since abandoned.

Cracks split through the decayed structures in a single heartbeat.

Nearby, a massive, land-based fortress, too slow to retreat, was tossed back like a flimsy paper boat, sent hurtling into the distance.

All the airborne munitions detonated in an instant, their fiery brilliance forming a sea of flames that obscured the sky.

The handler’s alloy sword bore countless fractures, as did Dick’s colossal blade.

Dick observed the scene unfold, his pupils contracting slightly.

Second Burst!

But before he could react, an overwhelming force surged again from He Ao’s alloy sword.

Boom—

The heavy blade in Dick’s hands shattered into countless fragments in an instant. The silver alloy sword streaked forward like a comet, piercing straight into Dick’s right chest.

This was his energy focal point.

Dick’s eyes widened as he stared in disbelief at He Ao, whose blood-drenched form stood before him. He seemed paralyzed by the stunning events.

Boom—

He Ao released the layer of Divine Sense covering his alloy sword and let go, allowing the silver sword to shatter into endless metallic dust before his eyes.

Then, without sparing another glance at Dick, he turned and walked toward the direction of the densest flames—where the ambush teams lay in wait.

The truth was, from reading Dick’s thoughts, He Ao had known about his ’big move’ all along.

Dick’s oversized blade was crafted by a specialized Transcendent. It carried an inscribed array capable of drawing power from the void, while Spirit Extractors could forcibly convert unclaimed external energy into their own.

This meant Dick could gather energy in an incredibly short time, boosting his power to around 7,000, perhaps even 8,000.

Such strength allowed him to overwhelm most B-level Evil God believers granted powerful Grace.

However, He Ao also had a counter-strategy: Joey’s physical fitness score of 150, which, when enhanced to 3,410 via Super Memory, reached 3,560.

Then Fist Technique Enhancement added 90%, Heavy Strike added 20%, and Second Burst added another 35%.

At his peak, He Ao could unleash nearly 11,000 points of strength in a momentary burst.

The cost was Joey’s body being torn apart in an instant. Even if He Ao dumped all the accumulated power of Life’s Grace to sustain himself, he’d be left in a near-death state, relying on Life’s Grace for slow recovery.

In short, He Ao could only use this move once.

Meanwhile, Dick could repeatedly charge his powers as much as he wanted, backed by his ’Teleportation’ Miracle Magic.

All it took was a single misstep, and Dick could have easily turned the tables.

Thus, He Ao had to engineer one precise opportunity—a moment when Dick was fully confident he could end the battle and left himself no room for retreat.

Overall, Dick vastly outclassed He Ao in raw power.

But sometimes, one slip was all it took to seal a victory or defeat.

Gray-streaked blood oozed from Dick’s chest wound as he lifted his head to watch He Ao stumble away, drenched in blood.

By now, he understood He Ao’s physical state as well.

He opened his mouth, seemingly wanting to roar, but in the end, he merely closed it again. Staring at the corpses of his fallen comrades, he sighed. "So, my era has come to an end."

If just one of his subordinates had still been alive, he could have killed He Ao here.

Retrieving his gaze, he watched the staggering silhouette moving ever farther away.

In that moment, a strange and inexplicable sense of familiarity spread through his chest.

Fixating on the figure, he muttered softly, "You are..."

Finally, his body tipped forward, collapsing into the dust.
