Leveling with the Regressor in Apocalypse -
Chapter 36: The perfect plan
Chapter 36: 36: The perfect plan
A Level 51 High Vampire had fallen to a mere Level 15 human, and not just fallen, but utterly humiliated. His movements were seen through, and he couldn’t even land a proper attack before he was killed.
Even the other High Vampires, who had been constantly talking, had gone absolutely silent.
Ulien had been one of the strongest High Vampires amongst them, even said to be closest to becoming an Elite Vampire in the near future, and he had fallen like this.
If Ulien couldn’t take down this boy, then did the others have any chance? All of them realized that none of them could single-handedly kill this boy. If they wanted to kill him, they had to work together, but that was even more embarrassing.
As High Vampires, if they had to gang up on a mere mortal, then it was no different than dragging their self-respect through the mud.
"We can’t worry about unnecessary things now. We have to kill this boy!" said a High Vampire, unable to hide the embarrassment in his voice.
Even though he was ashamed, he knew that it had to be done. They couldn’t simply watch the boy escape. They had to kill him, even if they had to put their dignity aside.
"He’s right. We are just exterminating a beast. There is no shame in working together."
"Correct. It’s not because we are scared, but simply because a beast doesn’t deserve a battle. It deserves a slaughter."
Seojin glanced at the severed head of Ulien, before shifting his attention to the High Vampires that had started to surround him.
"So much for them not fighting in groups."
He picked the sword of Ulien, which was the second Fragment of Haphaestus’ sword. All he needed was one more fragment, and then he could merge these three swords and create a new sword.
Just a fragment alone was enough to increase his strength stat by ten points, that made all the difference in the battle. If he had all the fragments and merged these swords to create a true Haphaestus’ Sword, then it was long having an umbrella in heavy rain.
Unfortunately, that umbrella didn’t exist at the moment. With the Vampires about to gang up on him, it was like getting caught in the middle of the storm.
He picked up Ulien’s Sword, getting a sword in each hand. "Did you think of a plan?"
"Yeah. I came up with a perfect plan to get out of this situation," Taehyung approached Seojin, appearing to be the least bothered about the situation.
"I knew I could count on you." Seojin felt a little relieved. Just as he expected, the Regressor came up with an idea to escape from this situation. "So what’s the plan to get out of this situation?"
"You kill half of them. I kill the other half. And then we run away before Elite Vampires become active." Lee Taehyung stretched his arms, preparing for the battle that was to come.
Hearing the ’plan’, Seojin looked back at Taehyung blankly. "Please tell me that’s not the complete plan?"
"Do you not like it? I had to think long and hard to come up with such a perfect plan," Taehyung said in a carefree manner, as if he was completely serious about this plan.
Taehyung appeared completely earnest, but Seojin was certain that he was trolling him. What did he mean that he thought so long about it to come up with this perfect plan?
What was perfect in it? As if they had a choice but to fight if they had any other option. Even Taehyung couldn’t make the impossible possible in a situation like this.
"Fine. We will fight our way out of this mess." Seojin said, raising both his swords as he prepared to kill. It wasn’t as if they had a lot of time to waste arguing when the Elite Vampires were going to become active after the time was up.
Taehyung observed Seojin, who truly started preparing for a battle, instead of panicking in a situation like this. That quick thinking impressed him even more. Just as he thought, this boy was more special than he expected.
"I was messing with you," he confessed to Seojin, as his test was over. "You don’t need a plan. There won’t be any fight. After all, these people might not care about the dignity of their species, but there is someone who does."
As he had lived through this state many times, there were moments where he ended up in a similar situation. That’s when he experienced something that gave him confidence that they didn’t need to fight here.
"Are you talking about...?" Seojin thought, and looked towards the tallest building in the city. On top of that building, he saw the silhouette of the Vampire Lord.
He couldn’t see that person’s face or expressions, but through Insight, he could see his status screen and emotions. The Vampire Lord was enraged at the moment, but he didn’t think it was targeted to him.
Just as he thought, the Vampire Lord’s aura descended, making all the High Vampires fall to their knees under the bloodline suppression.
"As High Vampires, you want to fight these insects in groups? Have you made up your mind about disrespecting us all the way through?" The Vampire Lord’s voice echoed in the surroundings.
It was a tutorial stage. Not just the humans, but even the Constellations could see things that were happening here. And in a moment like this, they were showing such an insulting sight?
The mocking glare of the human ranker that stood next to him was even more frustrating for him.
If they couldn’t kill these children, then they just had to fight one by one, until the Elite Vampires became active. But instead, these cowards wanted to gang up?
It was different if lower vampires did this, because they were weaker. But even the High Vampires? He shouldn’t allow something like this, especially in the tutorial stage.
Seojin finally understood why Taehyung didn’t seem particularly worried. He had experienced the same thing, when he killed the High Vampires in his past incarnations. No wonder.
