Leveling Endlessly With My Harem -
Chapter 65: Artefact Selection
Chapter 65: Artefact Selection
Max was lacking compared to others because he had wasted one year doing nothing.
But he wasn’t that worried about it because of his Ultimate Leveling System. He had taken only a few days to reach Silver Rank while others took months to do the same.
Similarly, he would have easily overtaken them if he was given enough time. But it was tough in just two or three weeks.
The First Selections gathered all the prodigies of the Selero Empire, so he had no doubt there would be even Gold Rank Hunters among the participants.
The competition was simply too tough to catch up in three weeks.
’I will need to talk to Char and Stelle. I am not coming out of the Labyrinth for the next three weeks.’
"Do you need anything? Like skills or Artefacts?" Harley asked. "That reminds me, which path are you taking anyways?"
Turning towards him, Max smiled, "I have chosen it long ago. I’m gonna be a Guardian!"
Hearing that, Harley stiffened before laughing out loud, confusing Max for a second.
"Ah! My bad! I just thought of something funny," Harley brought her laughter down and said. "So, Skills related to Guardian Path?"
"I actually don’t want any Skills," Max sighed in reluctance.
He already had two skills and two Artefacts weighing on his soul, especially those two Artefacts, so he didn’t want to risk taking another Skill.
Not to mention, he had some plans for the Third Floor and might get some stuff from there, so he needed to keep some space for the future.
"Then, the most I can help you with is in the digestion of those Elixirs," Harley shrugged. "Do tell me when you need something though."
"That reminds me, can I see your storage house where you keep your weapons?" Max asked.
"Weapons? You just said you don’t want any Artefacts?" Harley looked at him weirdly.
Max considered if he should tell her about the Everform and decided to tell her since he could ask her to check on many types of Artefacts.
As long as he had proper knowledge of that Artefact, he could replicate it using Everform. Granted its rank would depend on him, but that was a double edged sword.
If its original rank was higher, then Max would have suffered a loss. But if its rank was lower, then he would have a better weapon.
Thinking of that, Max shifted his shirt slightly and showed her the dark tattoo that was running along his abdomen.
"What is that?" Harley frowned and asked. "Soul Bound Artefact?"
"Yes, it’s Everform..." Max nodded and explained its functions to her.
"I see. You really lucked out on this one," Harley smiled as her finger touched his dense muscles. "No wonder you don’t want any Artefacts. With this, you need nothing."
"Miss Harley, if you’re done with touching me then can we please move on?" Max asked, suppressing the urge to push her down.
A teasing smile formed on her lips as she said, "Hehe, you’re really enjoying it there and still pretending to be a gentleman."
Before he could say anything in return, she backed away and stood up, "Let’s go! That Artefact of yours is really useful so I’ll have you master many Artefacts of my storage."
Max followed her out of the room as they went towards the Storage Hall of the Auction House. They met a few people but everyone had already gotten used to his presence, so nobody said anything.
In two minutes, Max was standing before the Storage Hall that was on the third floor of the Auction House.
Harley pushed the door open as the Guard shifted to give her space. They didn’t even pay a glance to Max, who just skipped inside like an excited child.
"By the way, does it copy the Enchantments too or just the physical aspects of a weapon?" Harley asked as she clicked her fingers, turning on the lights.
Instantly, the dark room lit up with various illumination stones, shedding light on the objects stored in this vast hall. There were many sections like Artefacts, potions, etc.
They went towards the Artefacts section and Max noticed more subsections in it, like offensive weapons, defensive Artefacts, accessories, and many other categories.
’The Lannisters really live up to their name for being one of the richest in the whole Empire.’
Max looked around absentmindedly, trying to search for anything he liked, and he might study it quickly like he had done with the Dull Blade.
"Max! Max!"
Max woke up from his daydreaming when he received a smack on his shoulders. Only then did he realize that he was ignoring Harley.
"Sorry, sorry, what were you asking again?" Max flashed a sheepish smile and asked.
She gave him an annoyed look and asked, "I asked if Everform can copy enchantments too or it’s just for structure?"
Max thought about it for a second and said, "I think it can, but I need to be a Runemaster for it. Only when I understand the Runes can I copy them to mimic the Enchantments."
"That’s good because it means you’ll be walking down the path of Runemaster too. Maybe even Soulsmith," Harley nodded and said. "Then, I’m not showing you higher Ranks for now. The structure change is minor but crucial as you go higher in ranks. It doesn’t matter to you though."
She turned to give him a side glance and asked, "What do you want? Focus on one thing for starters as we are in a hurry."
"First comes offense," Max said.
She simply nodded and brought him into the offensive section. Various types of weapons were displayed on the stands like swords, daggers, halberds, axes, hammers, spear, staff...
The list just continued on as the hall was very big and contained numerous shelves and stands to house those weapons.
Of course, there were other offensive Artefacts like bombs, poisonous thorns, etc. Harley Auction House really had everything at their disposal, and this was just one of their countless branches.
Though, Max ignored that section because as much as he liked bombing others, he couldn’t replicate it with his Everform... yet.
As the protagonist of an average wish-fulfillment novel, original Max had chosen daggers and a sword as his main weapons.
Max was also of a similar opinion, but he was also interested in the spears, mostly because he could pair them with shields.
Well, the other reason for his choice was that he would have some distance between him and enemies. He liked that.
Just when he was beginning to get excited to explore the rows of stands, Harley pulled him to the sides where only a few stands were placed.
"This is the newbie area and you can find weapons up to Peak-Silver Rank here," she explained. "You won’t be needing Gold-Rank Artefacts now anyway."
That was true, as higher rank Artefacts were useless to him. After all, he couldn’t copy their enchantments.
’Man! The day I become a Runemaster, I’ll be fucking overpowered as hell!’
He could already imagine that scene where he would be changing weapons to his will and placing various Enchantments on them in mid-battle.
He would be a force to reckon with, and this was the reason he took the risk to get Everform.
It was one of the best Soul Bound Artefacts.
Max took a deep breath to suppress his excitement and those thoughts. He was still weak and had a long way to go to become that version of himself.
"I’ll help you pick the best ones," Harley said, when she noticed his gaze going on every weapon.
She pointed at a dual-blades silver sword and said, "Aether Fang. Peak-Silver Rank. It channels wind element to increase speed and cut pressure."
Moving on, she pointed at a crimson greatsword and said, "Ignis Brand. Peak-Silver Rank. A greatsword that generates explosive firewaves with each slash."
Her fingers began shifting as she continued to introduce the various weapons.
"Voidpiercer Lance. Peak-Silver Rank. It penetrates mana shields and barriers and leaves a delay-explosion mark."
"Phantom Daggers. Peak-Silver Rank. When thrown, they teleport back into the user’s hands after hitting."
"Stop!"
Max shouted, feeling his heart bleeding hearing her explanation. Every single one of them was so good and he practically wanted to take them all.
Yet, he knew he couldn’t do that because he had decided to keep both Everform and The Heart’s Desire. Both of them had strained his soul due to being of higher rank.
It was already a miracle he still had some space left, and he didn’t want to take the risk by placing one more higher Rank Artefact in his soul.
Unfortunately, he also couldn’t use those Artefacts without binding them to his soul, well, technically he could use them. It was just that he wouldn’t be able to use their enchantments, and one of the major functions of any Artefact was its Enchantments.
’I swear I’ll get all of their enchantments once I learn Runes and spam them on my Everform.’
Max swore in his heart and went towards the Voidpiercer Lance.
