Lethal Stunner: Kicking Off with Five Beast Husbands -
Chapter 97: Enraging Bai Yan
Chapter 97: Chapter 97: Enraging Bai Yan
When he saw the slip of paper in his hand, his eyebrow arched slightly.
Seeing the others still reaching out to draw lots, Mo Jiao directly flashed his "Number 1": "No need to waste time, it’s me this time."
Xiao Jinsheng didn’t even have time to greet the others before she was pulled away by Mo Jiao.
She looked down at her wrist, tightly held by Mo Jiao, and couldn’t help but feel that letting her Beast Husband draw lots was even more thrilling than flipping cards herself.
If it weren’t the competition period right now—
She’d be opening blind boxes every night.
The space was vast enough that everyone had built their own individual house.
And between each one, there was a hundred-meter gap.
Mo Jiao’s house in the space was primarily black in color.
"Play by yourself for a while," Mo Jiao locked the door behind him and said to Xiao Jinsheng before heading upstairs.
"Where are you going?" Xiao Jinsheng simply followed him upstairs.
"To shower." Mo Jiao glanced back with a smirk. "What, want to join me?"
"In your dreams." Xiao Jinsheng huffed, climbing to the second floor ahead of him and entering her own room.
Yes, the space currently housed eight buildings.
She had her own private one.
Yet in each man’s house, she also had her own room.
Having so many "homes" meant Xiao Jinsheng often forgot where she left her things, forcing her to sneakily search each Beast Husband’s house to find them.
Sitting on the sofa in her room, Xiao Jinsheng was poring over the original story provided by the Divine Gold System.
She was trying to find clues related to how the Terminal kept humans confined.
But the more time she spent on the Mist Continent and the more she experienced,
the more she realized the original story’s depiction was entirely inaccurate.
For a moment, Xiao Jinsheng couldn’t figure out whether the story’s inaccuracies were due to her own arrival altering events or if the so-called "original story" had been false from the start.
Even if she wanted to question the Divine Gold System for answers, there was no way to reach it.
However, speaking of systems, it did remind her of another one.
She may not be able to find the Divine Gold System, but could she not still encounter Bai Yan’s system?
Since Bai Yan could manipulate her emotions to modify her memories,
why couldn’t she provoke Bai Yan and extract useful information from her and her system in return?
The corners of Xiao Jinsheng’s mouth curved, a plan already forming in her mind.
However, her spiritual power was only Six Stars, while Bai Yan was already at Seven Stars.
At the very least, their Superpower Levels had to match for her to hear the thoughts of Bai Yan and the system.
So... she still needed to level up her spiritual power.
"The danger zone starts at Eleven Stars," Xiao Jinsheng murmured. "As long as I’m under Ten Stars, I’m safe."
Since she’d decided to rebel against the Terminal, advancing her spiritual power was unavoidable.
Though the process might thrill and bring her closer to danger,
it was like a game where you’re running for your life with only a sliver of health left.
Resolute, Xiao Jinsheng stepped out and headed straight for Mo Jiao’s room.
She raised her hand to knock just as the door opened from within. Mo Jiao, his damp long hair still dripping, stood in a dark silk robe.
Rarely did Xiao Jinsheng take the initiative to approach him, so Mo Jiao’s expression turned playful: "Looking for me?"
"Want me to dry your hair for you?" Xiao Jinsheng asked, her hand reaching out eagerly.
Skeptical, Mo Jiao replied, "You? What, planning to put some grapefruit peels or orange rinds on my head again?"
"Mo Jiao, that’s so unfair of you," Xiao Jinsheng feigned indignation.
"Your place or mine?" Mo Jiao asked teasingly, stepping aside to let her in.
Xiao Jinsheng swaggered into the room, not bothering about Mo Jiao locking the door after she entered.
She grabbed a towel and patted the bed’s edge, motioning to him: "Come over here. Let me dry your hair."
"Oh?" Mo Jiao raised an eyebrow but still walked over to sit beside her.
Xiao Jinsheng abruptly tossed the towel over his face. Mo Jiao caught her wrist, his voice low and teeth clenched: "Again with the sneak attacks. I knew you wouldn’t change your tricks!"
"That’s your fault! Look how tall you are." Xiao Jinsheng shifted to kneel on one knee by the bed, pulling the towel over his head as she leaned closer, hooking her arm around his neck to pull him down. "Can’t you bend a little? Holding my arm up like this is tiring."
"The towel hasn’t even touched my hair yet, and you’re already complaining," Mo Jiao snorted in amusement.
He sat cross-legged on the floor, his back against the bed, gazing upward at Xiao Jinsheng. "This height good enough for you?"
"Dry your hair fast. Five points if you finish," Mo Jiao challenged with a smirk.
"Reversed Celestial Spirit, calm down, will you?" Xiao Jinsheng scoffed.
As she worked the towel through his damp, purple-tinged hair, curiosity got the better of her.
She grabbed a lock of his hair, pulling it to hang in front of Mo Jiao’s face. "I’ve been wanting to ask for a while now—this gradient color at the ends of your hair, is it dyed or natural?"
Mo Jiao sighed: "...Your curiosity really knows no bounds."
"So, is it born this way or did you color it?" Xiao Jinsheng bent closer, running the ends of his hair lightly against the corner of his eye.
Mo Jiao tilted his head away and looked up, his gaze dark. He gripped her wrist tightly, his voice carrying a hint of danger: "I’m starting to think your real purpose isn’t drying my hair."
"Baseless accusation," Xiao Jinsheng retorted, brushing the purple-tinted ends once more across the corner of his eye.
The ticklish sensation made Mo Jiao blink uncomfortably.
He suddenly tugged at her wrist, pulling her down from the bed into his embrace.
"You’re quite the troublemaker," Mo Jiao murmured, holding her close as he leaned down to capture her lips in a kiss.
Xiao Jinsheng realized that each of her Beast Husbands had their own quirks when it came to kissing.
As for Mo Jiao, his kisses were unhurried and persistent, leaving no chance for either of them to catch their breath.
Not until Xiao Jinsheng’s breaths grew labored did he let go, his violet eyes amused as he looked at her: "Calm now, aren’t you."
"Who says?" Xiao Jinsheng huffed, pushing at him in an attempt to knock him off balance.
But Mo Jiao, anticipating her antics, maintained his footing, rendering her efforts futile.
Frustrated, Xiao Jinsheng grabbed the towel again, aiming to throw it over his head, but Mo Jiao effortlessly picked her up with one arm.
"I have ways of making you behave," Mo Jiao whispered with a sly smile, his purple eyes narrowing as he set her on the bed, his fingers tilting her chin upwards.
His half-damp, purple-black hair draped over his face, its ends brushing against Xiao Jinsheng’s collarbone.
"Ticklish," Xiao Jinsheng murmured, pushing his hair aside.
"Oh, so you know what ticklish feels like?" Mo Jiao clicked his tongue in faux-annoyance.
He pressed her shoulders back, guiding her down onto the soft bed, the kiss continuing anew.
A smile played on Xiao Jinsheng’s lips as she wrapped her arms around Mo Jiao’s neck, responding to the kiss with equal fervor.
As emotions heightened, both became lost in the moment.
Xiao Jinsheng noticed that Mo Jiao’s kisses always brimmed with patience, each one lasting until she teetered on the edge of breathlessness before he’d pull away.
Recalling that Mo Jiao’s Beastification was a snake, Xiao Jinsheng suddenly realized that all her Beast Husbands seemed influenced, consciously or not, by the instincts of the animals they transformed into.
Like how snakes, when hunting, tightly coil around their prey, waiting patiently for hours until the prey succumbed to suffocation.
Though kissing wasn’t the same as hunting, it seemed to carry traces of these animal traits.
When another kiss ended, Xiao Jinsheng suddenly thought of something alarming.
She quickly halted Mo Jiao’s advancing actions and cautiously spoke: "I heard something about snakes."
"...About them having two, you know..."
"Is it the same for Beastmen?" Xiao Jinsheng’s voice trembled slightly, a flicker of panic in her tone.
