Chapter 43: First wave
Chapter 43: First wave
A few more minutes passed, and the tension had become so much some people were pacing, some were tapping their hands on the tables, doing everything to keep themselves from going crazy.
And then suddenly, a young adventurer no more than fifteen got up. "I can’t take this," he yelled, and ran toward the door. He was already close to the door, so before anyone could do anything, he was already at the door.
He pushed the door and ran out. The moment his feet stepped outside, his body exploded into a mist of blood. Boom.
The blood rained down. There was no body left, no bones, nothing. Everyone stared in shock at what had just happened.
But the whisper didn’t even allow them to process what happened. He appeared and immediately pulled everyone’s attention.
{Finally, someone tried to run out. That took a bit longer than I expected. An example had to be made, one had to be sacrificed. Now everyone knows what happens when you disobey.
And with that in mind, your real test begins. The monster will come in.}
Suddenly, the walls of the guild all turned black, covering the windows and doors as well. And from this darkness, creatures began coming out. Massive orcs marched out with massive maces in hand.
And at their feet were goblins as well—short, but their numbers were many. They came from all sides, encircling the people inside.
Everyone immediately took out whatever weapon they had or could use. There were close to four hundred adventurers inside right now, adding people like the receptionist as well.
The monsters, on the other hand, were at least twice that number in total.
Jake looked at the girl. "I’ll do all I can to protect you. All I ask is that you do what I say," Jake said. She nodded immediately. She was scared of what might happen if she did anything now. All these monsters were here for her, after all.
The monsters rushed in, charging at the humans. The clash was similar to ancient wars. Immediately, blood could be seen splashing around.
"I’ll stay with her. Crypt, you take out the monsters," Jake said.
Crypt nodded, spun his spear, and shot forward. He moved so fast he was a blur. He leapt into the air and stabbed downward, his spear spinning like a drill.
Boom.
He stabbed right through an orc, killing it.

"Turn off notifications. I don’t want to be distracted," Jake said.
He watched the fight with keen eyes, hoping that they would dominate, but reality was brutal, as he watched an orc bite off a lady’s head, a group of goblins flay a man to death.
Blood coated the floor as this battle went on. He looked at the man with the axe. The lad was moving fluidly, his axe cut down orcs and goblins in one blow. He was fast and powerful, moving in bursts of attack.
Luscious was also there in the midst of the battle. He didn’t have any weapon and only used his fists. He leapt into the air and punched an orc right in the head, shattering its skull and sending it down to the ground, dead.
An orc swung at him, but he blocked it with his arm midair and shattered the mace. He kicked the air and shot forward, flipping in the air and landing an axe kick on the orc. Boom. The orc was sent down to the ground like the first, dead.
Jake was beginning to see hope that they would actually win this easily, but the whisper seemed to be in his head.
{Don’t be too sure yet, kekekekeke.}
Suddenly, a mage used Fireball, but her attack mistakenly hit a warrior point-blank and killed him. The friend saw his friend on the ground roasted and immediately turned to look at the mage.
Without a word, he charged at her. Filled with rage, he attacked. The mage was far stronger, but she was also scared, so she panicked when she saw the warrior coming toward her and attacked with a Flame Blade that cleaved the head of the warrior clean off.
She was immediately stunned by her actions, but it was already too late. The chaos had started. Someone who knew the two men rushed toward her, but another mage stepped in to stop the man.
In a few seconds, similar issues began happening all around—fights between themselves, as the monsters were ripping others to bits.
{I told you to not be too sure.}
Jake bit his lip. He didn’t have a choice now. He pulled out his spear and handed Ophelia to the girl. "Watch her," he said to the girl. She nodded and hugged Ophelia tight to her.
Jake ran as fast as he could. Just before an orc was about to attack a group, he blocked the attack with the shaft of the spear. His arms felt numb, but he didn’t allow it to get past.
"What the hell are you all doing? We are going to die here! Whatever it is that has happened, you can handle it after," Jake yelled. His words managed to put some sense back into their heads, and they all focused back on the enemy, but this time the little cooperation they had already vanished.
But to Jake, them not fighting themselves was enough. He pushed the orc back and spun the spear the same way Crypt always did, then he stabbed right through its head and killed it.
He left there and ran around the halls doing the same thing—trying to stop the infighting. When he was done, he was covered in sweat, struggling to breathe. He collapsed to his knees, his sight was blurry.
An orc saw him and rushed over to kill him, but as it attacked, its mace suddenly shattered. Luscious appeared out of nowhere and then punched it in the guts. It flew backward. Crypt then gave chase, leapt into the air, and stabbed it through its heart.
By this time, the majority of the monsters had died. Their bodies littered the floor, and the adventurers were killing the ones that remained.
