Chapter 95: One More Project Done
Chapter 95: One More Project Done
Kael turned toward the window, watching the orange hue of sunset spill across the Wilds. "It’s getting late, but there’s still something we haven’t done yet."
"The Celebrations!!!" Kiona and Rias shouted in unison, eyes lighting up like stars.
Their mouths practically watered as they remembered the delicious food Kael had made before. Rias instantly appeared beside Kiona and grabbed her hand.
"We’ll go take a bath quickly!" she said with a wide grin.
And then, they vanished in a burst of wind.
Kael blinked, caught off guard... then let out a low chuckle.
[I’m relieved to see you’re fine, Master. But... your soul feels very different.]
Kael smiled at the familiar feminine voice echoing in his mind. "Hello there, my dear Alpha. It’s good to have you back."
[Likewise, Master.]
"So, what did you detect in my soul?" Kael whispered to himself.
[There’s something powerful connected to it, which I can’t identify or even look into. It has nestled deep inside your soul and is constantly nourishing it. If it wasn’t for that, I would have considered it a foreign harmful object and tried to expel it.]
’Don’t bother. I’m certain you can’t do that and if you forced your way in, then the consequences aren’t something we can handle. Whatever it is, let it rest in my soul.’
[Understood. But I’m still perplexed on how it appeared there. I... I suddenly blacked out and the next thing I knew, I was existing beside this strange thing.]
Alpha also lived inside his soul in a way, so the flame and she certainly had to share the rented room now. Though, even the apartment owner had no clue about this new tenant.
Kael shook his head and stood up, still feeling a deep strangeness in his body. It felt as if his body was his, but at the same time, it felt as if he had gotten a new one. It was eerily similar to when he had transmigrated in his new body.
He went outside and found the twins waiting with their heads resting on their paws. They jumped to their feet upon seeing him and heaved a sigh of relief seeing that he was completely fine.
Kael grinned and shouted, "Let’s prepare for the celebrations!!"
The twins looked at each other and nodded. Since Kael didn’t seem to be bothered by anything, it meant at least the crisis had been averted for the time being.
They growled quietly and made way for Kael. Their huge bodies couldn’t help Kael in anything, so they could only wait.
Kael rolled his eyes upon seeing this and began preparing the fishes they had caught before for their meal. He really felt thankful that he was an Apocalypse survivor as he knew a lot of these things.
Cooking was one of his hobbies on Earth, as it calmed his mind and allowed him to communicate with others better. After all, he didn’t have any social skills before, so a good meal definitely helped.
It wasn’t like he was any better now, but now he at least had his ridiculous confidence in himself to support. It definitely helped.
As he busied himself in preparing the meal, all the troubles vanished from his mind. The only thing that remained was to give the people the best fried fishes of their life.
And a few more things.
The lions watched the process with full concentration, as they also wanted to learn the cooking from him and felt that it was their blessing he was allowing them to see his cooking.
After a while, the area was filled with an enticing aroma that made the lions’ stomachs growl even though they had eaten in the day and didn’t exactly need food now.
Drool dripped on the ground, as they stared at the cooked fishes with their tongues out. Kael smacked Jon on his face and scolded, "Where’s your manners? Keep that mouth shut."
The twins instantly closed their mouths, but their big feline eyes were still drawn to the fishes. But they didn’t ask for it yet as they wanted everyone to enjoy the meal together.
Soon, the space beside Kael split apart as Rias and Kiona walked out of it, freshly bathed and in new clothes that Kael found familiar from Earth.
While Rias donned a summer dress that reached the thighs, giving him a view that he couldn’t take his eyes off from her, Kiona wore a tank top and denim shorts that made his eyes split as they wandered onto both of their enticing figures.
"Master, are you also hungry? Why are you drooling?" Kiona noticed his look and couldn’t help but tease. Though, his gaze made her feel things she had never felt, so she had to control herself on that.
"Two beautiful women are before me so it’s my duty as a gentleman to appreciate them," Kael flashed a shameless smile and said. "You two are looking drop-dead gorgeous."
Rias ignored him and pointed at the fishes, "Can I eat them?"
Kael chuckled seeing her eager look, as if she was a child asking for permission to get the food. He nodded, "The meal is for everyone so don’t hesitate. Dig in!"
Their celebration began with the delicious meal and with hearty talks. Nobody brought up the subject of their enemies, as they just wanted to enjoy the moment.
Time passed as they finished the meals and enjoyed each other’s company. They also played a few games, which made them all have a time full of laughter.
As midnight drew close, they decided to end the celebration as the twins went back to continue their work. It was dangerous, but since Rias had given a green light, Kael let them go back to make the canals.
As for the three of them, they went back into their little house and slept soundly. As much as Kiona wanted to have some fun time with Kael, they had a lot of things to do so they just slept together while cuddling each other.
Kiona once again sucked Kael’s thumb in her sleep as her tail wrapped around his leg and her own leg bent on top of him. Apparently, his thumb gave her a sense of warmth that she couldn’t quite explain.
As for Rias, she seemed to have taken a liking to the top of the house so she stayed there. In her words, she seemed to like the moon and felt some connection with it, so she liked to stay in a situation where she could see the moon clearly.
Surprisingly, she felt the connection with moons of all the worlds she had traveled to, which heavily confused Kael as it didn’t make sense unless she had authority related to the moon or something.
Which also didn’t make much sense.
So, he let her stay on the top and slept comfortably for the first time since he arrived in this world with the company of someone he really liked.
...
Kael welcomed the morning with the arrival of the twins near their small town. Since Kael knew they would expand soon, he had kept some distance between the canal and the town.
All of them had a quick breakfast before they went back to their work. They didn’t really need food this often, but Kael’s cooking gave them extra energy, so he also wasn’t slacking and giving them all the energy.
After that, Kiona busied herself in making a few more houses she had planned for other races that would come to live with them. Apparently, she planned to make them in such a way that they could introduce changes easily if needed.
Of course, since Kael wanted to make the capital have similar structures, she kept his words in her mind before making anything.
Kael wanted to help her, but she pushed him out saying it was something she could do alone. She had come to like doing the construction work, so she hoped Kael would let her do that herself.
So, Kael shifted his focus to the twins and began to help them in the canal making. It was already going pretty fast with their huge bodies working on it all day, Kael’s addition just boosted their efficiency by a lot.
All of them worked the whole day and made huge progress. Since Kiona was now much more familiar with the construction work, she ended up making three houses which were smaller than theirs but still very good.
As for Kael and the twins, they finished their work before the sun hit the horizon. The three of them were surprised by their work, but it made them incredibly happy as now they could finish this project too.
But it still needed them to do one more thing—connecting the canal to the river. For now, all they had done was dig the pathway and leave behind a major chunk untouched so that the water from the river wouldn’t come flooding in.
It would have been quite stupid.
So, now all of them stood on the riverbank with a smile on their faces. They were ready to initiate their canal now.
