Legendary Beast Master: Starting with Contracting SSS Rank Dragon -
Chapter 77: Presence of Nanjing Sheng
Chapter 77: Presence of Nanjing Sheng
It was a widely known fact that humans considered beasts no different than animals and sometimes even worse. They even captured beasts to make them slaves and sold them to nobles and commoners alike.
They were even sold to factories and shops to perform hard labor, and their treatment totally depended on their masters. The effects of slavery didn’t need any explanation.
Kiona’s appearance was humanoid, but she still had bestial features which would be recognized one way or another. Once that happened, the Church would personally send people to eradicate them.
After all, a humanoid beast represented a high Evolution Stage and was highly dangerous to them. There was even a chance that they would take Kiona as a slave—as someone like her would surely sell for a lot.
Kael’s group simply wasn’t strong enough to face them, which poured cold water on everyone’s excitement about their recent Evolution. It reminded them of their weakness.
Kiona pursed her lips but didn’t say anything. While she did want to accompany her master, she knew she would only become a burden to him, which was the last thing she wanted to do.
"It’s fine, Master. There are many things I will need to do here."
Kael sighed and said, "You won’t be coming with me, but my reasoning is different from yours. Even if we can somehow mask your presence from the humans in the cities, there is someone more problematic sitting in the Human Domain."
He clenched his fists and muttered in a cold voice, "Nanjing Sheng. He’s one of the top experts in the Human Domain and is also in search of you. He probably can’t detect you in the wilds, but it’ll be different if you move closer to him."
Rias narrowed her eyes at Kiona and asked, "Does he need her heart for a ritual?"
"Yes."
Rias nodded and said, "Then it’s better if she stays here. Fate works wonders in these matters. When one is close to their rituals, fate tends to make the ingredients attract to them, and you won’t even realize when you’ve already been affected by it."
Kael sighed again. "It’s like if we take you to the city, then Nanjing Sheng might also suddenly have some work there and arrive in the city. Of course, even he wouldn’t know of this arrangement, but as a Demi-God, he can sense abnormalities and will definitely come to the right conclusion and it’ll lead to him discovering you."
They also had a Demi-God with them, but Kael doubted Rias was willing to fight another Demi-God for someone she barely knew.
She would probably just take him out of the danger and teleport somewhere safe. And if he resisted, then force was always an option.
Rias was already being extremely lenient for someone in her position. Kael could swear that the majority of people in her place would have straight-up kidnapped him and imprisoned him somewhere, using him solely as a battery for their memory recharge.
She was giving in to many of his demands, so Kael didn’t want to trouble her for things he could avoid and lose nothing important in the process.
A beautiful smile bloomed on Kiona’s face as she whispered, "Master cares so much about me."
Jon was speechless seeing his sister’s expression and nudged his brother slightly, whispering into his ear, "Was she always this dumb?"
Seth instantly made some distance between them before saying, "If you want to die, then die alone."
At first, Jon was confused before he sensed a deathly gaze locked onto him. He turned slowly, as if his neck hadn’t moved in ages.
He instantly shuddered when he saw Kiona’s blazing eyes locked onto his. He looked away immediately, acting as if this had nothing to do with him.
Kiona snorted at him and then turned to face Kael. "I understand, Master. You can do the work in the Human Domain while I handle things here."
"You’ll be the leader in my absence, so you do have responsibilities," Kael said. "But it’s not an urgent matter. I’m not visiting the Human Domain anytime soon, because we have other things to do."
"What about the houses?" Kiona asked. "Are you going to use clay and mud?"
"Nope. There are many good things here in the forest we can use," Kael answered with a shake of his head. "There’s a bunch of trees growing near that mountain, and they excrete a type of gum. We can mix it in water and use it to connect the blocks. Once it’s exposed to sunlight for some time, it hardens and even E-Rank Beasts would find it hard to break the bond."
"It’s that strong?" Kiona was surprised. "Then, why can’t we use it for canals? Are they in small numbers?"
"Yes, we’d probably get enough if we cut them down, but I couldn’t be more stupid," Kael nodded. "That’s why I’m delaying the canal formation for a while. We’ll just dig enough to get us water and then make a proper canal later on."
He scanned the surroundings and added, "Our focus will be making the houses for now, and our operations start right now. Rias will clear the area, and then I’ll help her transport the Blackstones here along with that gum. Kiona will handle the woodwork."
He thought for a moment and then asked, "How many of those metal rods do we have?"
"We didn’t have much to do on the First Floor, so we hunted down the Flame Elementals a lot. There’s no shortage of them," Seth answered. "We also took them out and hid them near the Labyrinth."
"That’s good. I’ll give all the metal rods to you," Kael said, turning toward Kiona. "Use your flames to blend them together and make the rods necessary for the buildings."
The metal rods came from the Flame Elementals, so they were pretty sturdy—making them a much better option than using wood.
They could use the wood for other purposes.
"But Master, I don’t know the exact things I’ll need to make," Kiona said thoughtfully. "Do I just need to make long rods?"
"Uhh, no... how do I tell you?" Kael muttered and began looking for a stick to explain better.
"You can use Astral Projection to inject the information into her," Rias spoke from the side.
