Chapter 76: Plans for Future
The next day, Rias returned as she had promised, and by then, Kael’s group had also woken up and bathed in the river. They really needed a thorough washing after spending so much time in the labyrinth.
The only reasons they didn’t bathe at night were because they were used to that state, were too exhausted to do anything really, and there were also the dangers of the river.
Kael wasn’t naive enough to believe that the river was completely safe, after all.
Once they had their breakfast done, they all gathered at their precious spot, and Kael took the lead to explain their plans as they began to plan their next moves in building their empire.
Standing on a small stone pedestal, he said, "There are two main things we need to do to make a proper establishment. First is housing, and second is water supply. The problem with housing is that we’ll need to take note of different kinds of environments for different races, but we’ll deal with that later since we don’t have many people."
He raised his hand with two fingers sticking out and continued, "As for water, we will create a canal passing through here from that river and connect it again with the river further downstream. It’ll create a different route of fresh water for us."
"Canal?" Seth asked in confusion.
"Just consider it a separate route for the water to pass through our territory," Kael said. "I was thinking of just digging a small separation of the river, but it’ll create a river island. It’s not a problem for now, but I don’t want that for the long term, so we will use cement or something to make a proper canal without any leakage."
He took a yellow-colored apple-like fruit and took a bite. Then, he explained further, "For the water issue, I’ll leave it to the twins to dig a path for the water to pass. I’ll make a map so it’ll be easier for you. Can you do it?"
Jon straightened his back and raised his head high, "Anything for Master."
"Good. First dig the path, then we can strengthen it later on. Water supply is important and urgent," Kael nodded and changed the subject. "Now, the problem is the houses for everyone."
He sighed, "There will be many races, and I can’t simply make all of their suited houses in the capital, so they will have to adjust. At least the main capital will be a place where everyone can come and enjoy and also live if they are comfortable."
The others didn’t need more reasoning to understand that, as they were well aware of the different kinds of habitats other beast tribes lived in.
Of course, they tended to lean towards the other race’s civilization even if they wanted to deny it. That was also why Kael wasn’t too worried about the different habitats of others.
He had plans to name them all and have them evolve—hopefully giving them a humanoid form. If every race strived to have a humanoid form and even Evolution favored it, there must be a reason for it.
It would also make them mingle and live with other beast tribes more naturally. After all, having similar appearances helps in communication.
"First, we will clear out a small area in the northern side of the Great Storm Tree, and I’ll name the area Northern Borough. As for what it’ll be used for, it’ll be decided later on. For now, we will make homes here, and they won’t be too close to the tree for obvious reasons."
While the Great Storm Tree was a protector, being too close to it could also be problematic. There were also its massive roots that extended like titanic octopus tentacles. He didn’t want to disturb them.
"Master, you said we’ll use the Blackstones for the houses, so are we going to transport them here?" Kiona asked. "Then, we’ll have to halt the process for the water project for a while. We can’t transport them efficiently without their help."
’That much is true, but I already have a possible solution,’ Kael turned towards Rias and asked, "Is there any price to pay when you travel through the Astral World? Or maybe a burden?"
"As long as I am not jumping through the worlds, there is no burden or price. Traveling within a world is very easy," Rias replied, but she seemed clearly reluctant to do his work.
’She already guessed I was gonna use her as a free delivery service?’ Kael rubbed his nose and smiled as an idea formed in his mind.
"Think like this, Rias. If we make the houses, then you can stay here with me and you know what it means to stay close to me," Kael had a shrewd smile on his face, as if he were a professional businessman.
His words convinced Rias so fast that even he was surprised for a second. She turned to her sides and asked, "Shall I clear this area? It’ll be fast."
’Look who is eager now,’ Kael chuckled and said, "You can do it later. But this also gives us an opportunity that I didn’t think was possible before."
He paused and said, "We can go to the Human Domain and take stuff from there. We don’t need to use everything from the forest, and there are many things that can benefit us too."
The lions instantly had an ugly look on their faces, but Kiona relaxed her frown and nodded to herself, "As long as it is benefiting us, we shouldn’t hesitate to use the opportunity even if it means using our enemies’ services."
She looked up at Kael and asked, "Is that what you mean?"
"You’re learning the tricks quickly," Kael nodded and said. "Like the cement we need for the canal, it’ll be a hassle to make it ourselves, so it’s better we take it from the Human Domain."
He once again turned towards Rias and asked, "Do you think the Demi-Gods of the Human Domain will sense our arrival?"
"As long as we don’t go to main cities where the Headquarters of Churches are, we’ll be fine," Rias said, before shifting to look at Kiona. "But I will advise you not bring her. It’ll create unnecessary trouble and also bring attention to us."
Kael couldn’t argue with that.
