Chapter 55: Demi-Gods

Kael didn’t think twice and ordered Alpha to forcibly take him back to the physical world. He didn’t know how to do that, but she would definitely know it.

As expected, in the next moment, he felt his consciousness being transferred to his physical body, also known as the Ether Body. Still, his back was wet with sweat as his heart pounded against his chest.

He clearly remembered the scene before he was pulled down to the physical world. A dense mass of dark tentacles was moving toward his Astral Projection, which should have been impossible considering everything existed in bizarre colours in the Astral World.

’Unless it was some powerful existence that can travel using Soul Body or even Ether Body. If it’s the former, it’s still relatively safe, but if it’s the latter, then that’s a big problem.’

As far as he knew, one could use their Soul Body to access the Astral World or even travel through it once they reached C-Rank or higher.

However, if they wanted to use their Ether Body to travel through the Astral World, then they had to be at at least S-Rank—and anyone who reached that rank was already considered a Demi-God.

In fact, anyone who reached A-Rank had significant changes in them which made them closer to the Gods than to mortals. That’s why they were known as the Demi-Gods.

It was clear that to have the Ether Body appear in the Astral World, one needed to be at least a Demi-God—meaning he had encountered a wandering Demi-God.

He was grazed by a Demi-God. That sigh was also from ’him’, but who could it be?

’Wait! Am I even safe?’ he panicked, as his Astral Projection was still there in the Astral World. So technically, that Demi-God could still harm him through his Astral Projection.

However, he then calmed down as he analyzed his situation. Anyone who reached S-Rank could kill him instantly—it didn’t matter if he was in the Physical World or Astral World, as long as he was within range.

They were walking calamities who could decimate entire regions. If even one S-Rank came from the Church, they could level the entire Valoran Wilds in no time.

This was the strength of the Demi-Gods—but they were few in number and also restricted because of various geopolitical reasons. If one race deployed their Demi-God, then others would do the same.

And a battle between two Demi-Gods of their level wasn’t something anyone wanted, so they never really fought. Only in dire situations would they take action.

What was a Demi-God doing wandering around in the Astral World like that? And why did he come to him? Was it because of his immense mana pool? Or him being a Legendary Dragon? Or maybe even his connection with Draven?

’Whatever it is, that guy at least didn’t have intentions of killing me... not immediately at least. That’s why I was able to escape. But my Astral Projection...’

[You don’t need to worry about that, Master. Astral Projection is just a manifestation of your Soul in the Astral World, in a way—so it’s vague and often gets carried along in the currents of that world. It’ll be really hard to lock onto someone just from their Astral Projection, even for a Demi-God.]

Kael heaved a sigh of relief hearing that, as he was really afraid that a Demi-God would begin pursuing him. He wasn’t in a condition yet to resist them.

’Hmm, what if they are Demi-Gods from some other world?’

Alpha had deciphered more of the information provided by Draven, and from it, Kael knew everything about the Demi-Gods and their situation.

He had also learned of the existence of other worlds just like Eldryn—with many races and also the influence of other Gods. There were some faiths that were spread across many worlds, like the Church of the Dawnfire Goddess.

Apparently, she was worshipped in many other worlds, and the upper echelon of the Church also communicated with other branches often.

It wasn’t really surprising to him since he had learned about the existence of the Astral World. It was a dangerous world for people like him, but a treasure trove for organizations having Demi-Gods.

That was why he was wondering if he had encountered a Demi-God from some other world—and he actually hoped that was the case, since he didn’t want to let anyone know of his existence yet.

He would let them see and fight Kael, the madman who wanted to unite the beasts—but not Kaelveros, the Legendary Silver Dragon of Doom.

Kael sighed and noticed that his danger intuition was silent, meaning he really was safe for now. He relaxed his tensed muscles and looked around to assess his situation.

Just from the dark bricks around him, he could tell that he was still in the Nether Fortress. But that made him wonder if Kiona had gone to hunt again.

However, the possibility seemed low, as she wouldn’t leave him in such a vulnerable state. Even if the Nether Fortress was now empty, it was just too risky.

Just then, a beautiful woman with mesmerizing red hair made into braids and an athletic figure walked into the room. Her lioness tail danced in a smooth motion behind her as her fluffy ears twitched upon seeing him awake.

She smiled and came near him, carrying a leather packet with her. Dropping herself beside him, she asked, "How do you feel? Your face looks like as if you have seen Batterex."

"Batterex?" he asked in confusion.

"Uhh, I haven’t really seen them, but they’re a horrifying creature used to scare us in our childhood," she shuddered saying that, as if she was remembering her own childhood.

That also brought a wave of melancholy in her eyes that she quickly hid.

"You can say that," Kael sighed. "I was exploring the Astral World but encountered a dangerous entity living there. Fortunately, I was quick to escape—otherwise, you would be seeing someone else right now."

Kiona froze and slowly turned to him. With eyes full of worry, she asked, "Are you really alright? I mean, did that entity leave something on you?"

A warm smile automatically formed on his face hearing her concerned voice as he replied, "Don’t worry. I’ve already checked and I’m really fine. I’m actually feeling better and more powerful after the advancement."

She heaved a sigh of relief and said, "That’s true. After advancing to D-Rank, your physical capabilities will also increase along with your mana pool, and the skills will also be better. Sadly, we can’t get new skills on our advancement."

"I have a possible solution for that," Kael said, remembering his plan for this problem. "Anyways, seeing as you’re carrying the leather bag, can I assume that the twins are back?"

Kiona nodded in excitement and said, "They have also advanced to D-Rank, meaning all of us are now much more powerful and can establish our nation."

"Things will only get messier from here on," Kael sighed. "Go find your brothers. I’ll familiarize myself with my advancement first, and then we’ll go to the Floor Boss."

Kiona nodded and gave him the leather bag. "Here, you can eat till then."

Kael took the leather bag and watched her go, his gaze stuck on her shorts that seemed to stretch her buttcheeks even more.

He smiled and shook his head.

’I should check if I unlocked any skills.’
