Chapter 404: Chapter 48: A Heroic Tale of the Universe and Martial Arts
"I should be on Galileo, not in this car..." David murmured, unable to help himself as he checked the running status of Yawgmoth’s prosthetic leg.
"That’s the third time you’ve said that," Yawgmoth couldn’t help but point out.
"Yes," David sighed, "that’s my Space City... at least I designed it. I should be on Galileo, not in this car."
"Fourth time now."
Xiang Shan said, "Just let him ramble. It’s not like it’s going to kill us. Anyway, you’re still following that news, huh? Wasn’t there no network all the way?"
"There was a network as soon as we landed from the plane," David said, "Just at the airport’s cargo distribution center, I downloaded the news videos..."
"Ah, forget it, stop watching it, it just makes you sadder," Xiang Shan said.
The reason Xiang Shan said that was because he knew what David cared about.
Since his youth, David’s dream had been to "explore the starry skies." As a fan of classic science fiction, he yearned to break free from humanity’s cradle and set foot on the stars above.
Starting from the 1930s, humanity began to refocus their attention on the stars.
It was probably due to Argon’s arrival.
Besides, Argon also told humanity a fact: even with relatively lower levels of technology, it was possible to set sail into the vast ocean of stars. At least Argon’s builders were able to launch it with a level of technology not much higher than that of humanity.
This greatly inspired humankind. Although they still couldn’t understand the logic behind the building of this space wonder by Argon’s builders, they realized that "twentieth-century sci-fi novels’ belief in twenty-first-century humans colonizing Mars" wasn’t a tall tale.
At the very least, the builders of Argon could probably do it.
Argon, from beginning to end, only displayed "a slightly higher level of technology than humanity’s."
By the late 1940s, as Superman Enterprises began to spark a technological revolution and industrial upgrade across the world, and when the personal finances of the scientists involved in the project started to improve, David began to plan for these things. Through various means and channels, he bound "human cyberization" and "outer space development" together. The financial resources he could push into this effort went toward purchasing various aerospace resources across the world.
At first, it was just stocks in aerospace companies. Then, it was the aerospace bases and research centers of the former Red Alliance, scattered across various minor allied countries, and even the aerospace resources controlled by the Russian Federation.
This process may have been aided by an upgrade in cybernetics, systems theory providing advanced computational tools, or because a paradigm shift in biology allowed a few scientists to pioneer ways to increase intelligence.
In any case, "controlled nuclear fusion" really was completed.
Helium-3 on the Moon became a very valuable thing. Humans quickly established permanent settlements on the Moon and, using the Moon, with its lower gravity, as a stepping stone, embarked on further interstellar exploration.
— Of course, relying on the Benchmark Man’s stronger survival capability.
In the late 1960s, David began to immerse himself in the design and construction of "Satellite Cities." He personally led a scientific research team to gather the force of all aerospace organizations worldwide, collect data on all large space stations currently in operation, and craft a pragmatic "Space Habitat" plan.
And David’s much-beloved Galileo was a prototype of "Galileo Space City."
This prototype was designed by David personally and prepared to commence construction among the Galileo satellite constellation around Jupiter. This Satellite City had enormous expandability, and "expansion" was considered right from the start of the design. The R&D team from Superman Enterprise also used genetic technology to create a few plants adapted to low-gravity environments, to maintain an extremely small ornamental ecological circle.
According to David’s plans, he should have been on Galileo.
He had started plotting this several years ago and gradually replaced all his prosthetic parts with the kind that could move freely in outer space.
In the early stages of "Galileo’s" construction, he would be present, solving all engineering problems on-site.
But...
As everyone knows, three years ago, in the attack by the extremist terrorist organization "Martial Arts," the revered founder of Superman Enterprise, "David Klein," died.
David naturally couldn’t go to Galileo.
"Mind your own business," David said, very upset.
"Besides, that Space City isn’t yours. Legally, it falls under the jurisdiction of the United Nations Project Services and is supervised by the Outer Space Security and Relations Coordination Committee of the UN Security Council," Yawgmoth added calmly.
"That is my city!" David shook Yawgmoth’s arm angrily, "Hey, turn it up to half power."
Meanwhile, Xiang Shan said with boredom, "You know, thinking about it, David, you still have quite the protagonist vibe. To develop space, you turned yourself into a fully cyberized Remodeler, and then right before the plan unfolded, the entire world was attacked by a mysterious evil organization. Your original hopes were taken away, and then you used the power of martial arts to control this powerful prosthetic body prepared for space development... Just listening to it sounds very heroic."
"Quiet," David listened carefully to Yawgmoth’s arm, then gestured twice on the upper arm and said, "Don’t use force." Then he forcefully yanked on the middle section of Yawgmoth’s upper arm.
"All right, perfect," David nodded.
Yawgmoth moved his arm, "Are you sure you didn’t trick me?"
"This arm’s prototype was designed by me, and this current model has been altered by my own hands. I know this device better than anyone," David said, "By the way, what were you mentioning just now? The Security Council? I wonder how many real people are sitting in the Security Council meetings right now."
Xiang Shan gestured with his hand, "You guys didn’t hear the heroic story topic I just talked about, did you?"
Yawgmoth said, "Hopefully, the target of this assassination is a ’real person’..."
"Whether or not he’s a real person, he’s definitely linked to the ’evil organization.’ At the very least, he is an important puppet," David said, "But... Ah. My biggest worry isn’t this. As more large Space Cities like Galileo are built, will that ’Tyrant’ directly leave Earth? This is what I’ve always been concerned about."
"I hope so," Yawgmoth sighed.
"Then we’ll just design a form of martial arts that can operate freely in zero-gravity environments!" Xiang Shan continued to optimistically encourage his companions, "No matter where that guy goes, we can definitely kill him and take back our world!"
"All right, brothers, enough chit-chat," Zhu Xinyu interjected, "Get ready to work."
