Legend of the Cyber Heroes
Chapter 236 - 236 16 Harvest

236: Chapter 16: Harvest 236: Chapter 16: Harvest Jader kicked open the car door, jumped to the ground, and then casually closed the door behind him.

He strode forward.

The Solo Kill King was certain that the series of gunshots from Xiang Shan’s attack on the Life-Chasing Cavalry, as well as the noise of his own door opening and hitting the ground, would have been pinpointed by the enemy.

He simply moved two steps lightly, then cocked his ear to listen.

The speed at which a Martial Artist swings a sword or a fist usually surpasses the speed of sound.

But at least on the ground, it’s rare for a Martial Artist to accelerate to supersonic levels.

It’s even less likely in low-visibility environments.

Depending on the sound, the Solo Kill King captured the enemy’s location.

Two of them.

Both are using two-wheeled vehicles…

motorcycles?

Judging by the engine sound, they weren’t weak in performance.

Jader twisted his body, coiling one leg to gather strength.

The waves produced by the Prosthetic Body colliding with the air…

The state of a weapon tearing through the wind…

More information was projected into his mind.

Jader tensed up, eyes fixed on the air in front of him.

A spot of cold light emerged from the dust…

At that moment, Jader twisted his body and swiftly kicked out his right leg.

His kick spun his body around, avoiding the Long Spear.

This spear was the flame-tip spear, its conical head primed with explosive.

Had it hit, it would have penetrated Jader’s Prosthetic Body.

But the spear only grazed a trail of sparks on Jader’s chest.

Jader’s leg, like a Long Blade, slashed into the side of a cold-blooded rider.

The cold-blooded rider was in a state of “Man-Vehicle Unity.” He was seated on a two-wheeled motorcycle, commanding it through a wired connection instead of handlebars.

His legs were positioned at the very front of the motorcycle, hands swinging the Long Spear.

His legs were also ready to deliver kicks at any moment.

But under Jader’s kick, he was sent flying sideways, spinning horizontally in mid-air.

——Not good…

The cold-blooded rider cursed his luck.

Tires are not as adaptable as legs.

On smooth terrain, tires surely save more energy and are more stable than legs, but when faced with an unsuitable situation, they are hard to adjust.

The cold-blooded rider desperately planted his Long Spear into the ground to arrest his momentum, while at the same time, the machine gun mounted on the back of the motorcycle automatically adjusted its angle to lay down suppressive fire in the Solo Kill King’s direction.

But Jader was no ordinary man.

The distance between the two was less than three meters, and close-quarters Combat Fighting greatly favored him over Firearms.

He seized the moment, sidestepping the bullets and slipping into the blind spot of the gun, while simultaneously lowering his body and extending his left foot, his toes pointed at the tip of the cold-blooded rider’s spear stuck in the ground.

This move completely robbed the cold-blooded rider of his balance.

The cold-blooded rider, together with the motorcycle, tumbled to the ground.

Jader immediately pounced, pressing down the barrel of the machine gun with one leg, his hands delivering a flurry of blows to the cold-blooded rider’s head.

Still wired to the motorcycle for added stability, the rider didn’t have time to disconnect.

He knew that even though his Prosthetic Body was of a higher grade than that of a Jianghu Hero, his Biological Brain could suffer permanent damage if it was repeatedly struck on the head.

He could only guard his head with his arms, deflecting the consecutive punches.

He shouted, “This Hero’s tough and no ordinary foe!

Lend a hand!”

But what answered him were a succession of blows and a gunshot.

………………………………………

Kan L lay on the ground, his entire attention focused elsewhere.

Just moments ago, he had heard the sound of the standard-issue two-wheeled vehicles of the Protector Troops, so a tiny hope was kindled within him, hoping for a burst of speed to escape the watchful range of that man.

But perhaps the man’s Prosthetic Eye was of a higher level than expected.

Kan L hadn’t managed to escape his sensor range for even an instant.

The man shot directly.

Several bullets struck true, hitting the joints of his Prosthetic Body.

Two bullets stripped away the External Armor on his knees; two bullets broke them.

One of his wrists was also rendered useless by a bullet.

Now he had lost most of his mobility.

Yes, for Cybermen, “limbs” can still be used to walk—even if they don’t feel pain.

But there’s still an efficiency difference.

With damaged limbs, his speed was significantly limited; there was no way he could escape from the hands of a Martial Artist.

He could only clutch the handgun in his remaining hand, lying prone on the ground, waiting for the moment the enemy approached.

——He hoped those two cold-hearted guys would prove to be forceful, capable of taking down one or two Heroes at least.

As he fell, he had decided to rely on “playing dead” to avoid further attacks.

That’s why he didn’t call out for help.

If he revealed that he wasn’t dead, that Hero could finish him off with a shot anytime.

But if those two cold-blooded riders could kill one or two Heroes, then when the remnants of the Heroes came to collect his body, he could deliver the fatal shot.

Kan L was extremely tense, nearly trembling.

This state didn’t last long, however.

A few seconds later, he heard a sharp sonic boom and the subsequent clashing of metal.

——That’s…

an arc side-kick.

And extremely fast, the sound sharp and crisp, the execution decisive, timing impeccably precise…

——His target, one of the cold-blooded riders on a two-wheeled vehicle…

The cold-blooded rider’s vehicle is likely a BB126 “Purple Steed,” typically weighing about seven hundred kilograms.

Together with the rider’s own weight of his Prosthetic Body…

——He would still be sent flying…

——Sure enough, there’s the sound of him vaulting…

the steel spear touching the ground, trying to stop the momentum…

an explosion?

The flame-tip spear?

Now the spearhead’s done for.

He doesn’t have the leeway to flip the spear butt over to stake it into the ground to control the motorcycle…

gunfire…

missed…

Kan L closed his Prosthetic Eye in agony.

He dared not look at that light anymore.

The sounds of another battlefield, however, still burrowed into his ears.

A Hero, demonstrating simple yet efficient moves.

He engaged an enemy with a set of Martial Ancestor Fist, entangling them.

Several powerful strikes were all absorbed by the cold-blooded rider’s armor.

At that moment, the first cold-blooded rider shouted, “This Hero is tough to deal with, not an ordinary foe!

Help!”

But then…

Gunshots rang out again.

Those were the sounds of a sniper rifle.

What followed was the sound of metal being torn apart.

A few seconds later, the same sound of metal hitting the ground echoed.

He knew the second ranger had been finished off.

—Not even one had died…

At that moment, two bullets struck his dummy’s external armor.

The caliber wasn’t large and didn’t penetrate, just lodged into the armor.

Whether it was pre-set parameters or because Kan L was purely terrified into a blank mindset, he did not move an inch.

He knew the other side was testing whether he had lost the ability to resist.

Firearms endowed Martial Artists with the ability to counter-kill in desperate situations.

Whether it was a grenade or a pistol, either could achieve this.

As long as the distance was close enough and the attack sudden enough, leaving no time for the opponent to react, then a counter-kill was possible.

Even with a grenade, if the explosion was close to the opponent’s biological brain and one’s posture was such that their body shielded their own biological brain, it would ensure that the enemy sustained far greater damage than oneself.

Therefore, even when facing an opponent who appeared immobilized, one had to be extremely cautious to prevent a mishap.

The opponent fired several shots in a row, but thankfully Kan L, while falling, had pressed his pistol-holding hand, along with the firearm, under his body.

In doing so, unless the torso was penetrated, the bullets couldn’t reach his wrist or firearm.

This meant there was no need to worry about stray bullets damaging the wrist or gun.

The Hero tested repeatedly, but Kan L remained motionless.

Finally, the shooting stopped.

It seemed that the Hero did not want to waste too many bullets.

Then, he heard footsteps.

Ten meters…

seven meters…

five meters…

Closer… and closer…

When the distance was less than half a meter, Kan L finally saw a figure emerge from the dust, leaning down towards him.

With a muffled “pop” sound, a bullet fired from a silencer-equipped gun struck the forehead of the figure.

“Ah!” Kan L shouted, pulling the trigger repeatedly.

A series of “pop pop pop” sounded in quick succession.

Countless bullets pierced through the figure.

The figure fell forward like that.

But before Kan L could celebrate, a fist seized his gun-holding hand.

Then, another fist swung from the side, striking the middle of the pistol.

Under the Clever Force, the gun shattered into several pieces.

The Hero’s voice echoed like death in his mind, “Enjoyed firing the pistol?”

Then, he exerted force and twisted the guy’s neck.

Xiang Shan hadn’t actually been shot.

He had simply made a coat hanger with a 3D printer and wrapped a cloak around it.

Thus, the silhouette of the coat hanger now closely resembled that of a human with a prosthetic body.

Then, he tilted his upper body backward while lifting the coat hanger forward.

Just by listening to the footsteps, one would mistakenly believe the coat hanger was him and ignore the torso almost parallel to the ground below.

Xiang Shan would never rashly approach a Cybernetically Enhanced Person lying on the ground.

He had seen too many Martial World experts carelessly approach an enemy’s corpse, only to be counter-killed.

Some Martial Artists, even with their neck vertebrae twisted, could switch to remote control mode and suddenly counter-kill their opponent.

Wireless remote control of neural signals was certainly less efficient than the spinal cord.

But if a Martial Artist had advanced enough anticipation, then a wirelessly controlled prosthetic body could still be combat-effective.

Moreover, it only needed a few moves to take down an enemy.

Xiang Shan himself was an expert at playing dead.

Martial Ancestor was cautious of such tricks.

Upon confirming that the opponent was only firing with one hand, Xiang Shan first disabled the opponent’s weapon, then twisted the enemy’s neck.

At the same time, he also activated the electromagnetic signal jammer on his body, blocking all common electromagnetic signals within half a square meter around him to prevent the guy from detonating any high-explosive bombs with his will.

What followed was a rapid dismantling.

Xiang Shan dismembered the Cybernetically Enhanced Person in a matter of seconds.

He carried the head and valuable resources back to the “donkey.”
