Legacy of a Benevolent Lord
Chapter 44: Poison Chain Man gone...

Chapter 44: Poison Chain Man gone...

At that moment, he heard a clanking sound of a chain.

It felt faint and mechanical. Like metal scraping against metal.

Swish

A hook, crimson in color, shot down from above. It moved fast.

Faster than most weapons could.

As Riven quickly sidestepped, the hook surprisingly moved a bit on its own, twisting at a tricky angle.

It curved sharply, and at the right moment, it wrapped itself around his right arm. It was like a metal snake.

The hook seemed to want to pierce through his right shoulder, but would he let it?

<Dragon Siezing Claw>

His left hand turned into a golden claw and caught the hook before it touched the skin.

A quick but precise action.

SSSSSssss...

The moment his Yang energy touched the Crimson hook, the energy started sizzling and boiling.

Soon after, wisps of red smoke began to drift out.

’Poison, ’ Riven realized.

The hook was laced with some kind of heavy and deadly toxin.

His Yang energy is purity. Burning through all that is impure.

Such poison is something the energy hates.

The red smoke kept rising.

The hook continued to melt between his fingers.

He followed the chain’s length, raising his gaze toward the top of the mast.

There, he saw a thin man with sunken cheeks extending his right hand.

He had no right hand, just a hook-chain weapon grafted onto the stump of his elbow.

Contempt flashed in Riven’s eyes.

’Crimson Hook. Second in command after Thunder Hand. Wondered where this motherfucker disappeared to’, his thoughts were calm and rational.

After Thunder Hand, he instinctively did not consider anyone else a threat.

And he pulled.

However, what he expected did not happen, and the chain simply extended from the man’s arm weapon.

"Heh... nothing is that advantageous. Let me see how long this fucking chain is".

Again.

Still extending.

Third time.

Same result.

When he was pulling the fourth time, he met resistance.

A mocking sneer appeared on his face, and running his energy through his body, he pulled with 101% of his strength.

Perhaps the thin man never thought that someone could casually grab his highly poisonous hook and have the strength to pull the chain that was at least fifty meters long.

The crow’s nest blew up with a bang, and the man was hurled down.

Crimson hook, the second strongest after Thunder hook in his fleet, had the strength of a peak Heaven and Earth Foundation realm expert.

Yet... he hit the deck hard, knees buckling.

Even with this strength, his face scrunched in despair as he saw his opponent raise his leg in a kicking position.

Crimson Hook opened his mouth. He wanted to plead. To scream. To say, something.

"NO! SPARE M-!!"

Crimson hook spoke his last words as Riven’s left leg, gleaming with energy and intent, met his temple.

And all that was left was a-

PFFFFFF

The head blew up like a watermelon. Brain matter, bone, and blood splashed across the deck.

The body, limp and headless,.... without any energy, fell on the deck.

Silence.

Utter silence.

This was the kind of silence that came from terror. The kind of stillness that happens when everyone is too afraid to breathe.

Third-ranked among the Great Lakes pirates... defeated.

His second in command got his head blown apart. Blood is still pooling around the body.

Even Selene, who was battling the General of the Skies, retreated and looked towards him.

How long has it been again?

Like maybe at least fifteen minutes?

No.

Ten minutes?

Nope.

Five?

Yeah... kinda.

It didn’t take long for the rest of the pirates to panic like headless chickens.

Even that brave archer.

He wasn’t even looking at Riven anymore.

He was looking down at the floor, muttering something under his breath, possibly a prayer.

When he had fired that shot, Crimson Hook was still alive.

Now?

The entire upper command of the third-ranked Pirate fleet was either dead or vanished into the icy waters.

The Thunder Hand Pirate Fleet was disbanded in less than ten minutes... like many Pirate fleets before their time.

Sins do have their price. When it’s due.... It’s due.

.......

"What the heck is this ship made out of? Damn..."

Riven pondered while brushing his hands on the railing. His fingers tapped on the wood twice.

"Damn."

Even after all those energy outbursts, the wood, although splintered, didn’t collapse.

"Mmmmm..... this is mine then~", he cheered gleefully.

As if he were admiring a coat he planned to buy, not a warship whose deck was painted with corpses.

When the people saw him moving around, admiring the ship after slaughtering everyone on it, they felt a chill down their spines like they had never felt in their lives.

That was no killer.

No.No.No. He wasn’t right in the head.

The man calling himself the "General of the Skies" immediately gave the order for everyone to break the ice, while he and Iron Sky – his second in command – kept Selene at bay.

But it didn’t matter much as Riven, although at least a kilometer away, had already sensed their agitation.

He focused his hearing and caught the faintest echoes.

The grinding of anchors being lifted. The deep cracks of the frozen lake are being intentionally broken open.

He vanished from where he was, jumped seven or eight times, and came to Selene’s side.

.......

It didn’t take long for them to break through the other party’s defense.

At the right moment, an Ice spear impaled the General, and Riven’s hand plunged through Iron Sky’s chest.

Telling Selene to go back to their boat, Riven went on a one-sided massacre.

Wherever he stepped, someone died.

Wherever he struck, a body exploded.

However, he didn’t kill the Pirates who knew how to steer a ship.

A couple of hours went by... apart from the ones who were terrified enough to run to the edge of the frozen part of the lake and try their luck swimming ashore...

Every other pirate, except for the ones he spared, died.

It was a thousand men. A thousand men who had at least had Marrow Cleansing realm (fifth acquired training realm) cultivation.

So, of course, one man can’t kill them all. He needed help.
